Overview These models of the x3850 X5 and x3950 X5 servers are powered with four-, six-, and eight-core Intel Xeon processors. The x3850 X5 server is the fifth generation of the Enterprise X-Architecture, delivering innovation with enhanced reliability and availability features to enable optimal performance for databases, enterprise applications, and virtualized environments. Once addressed, data can be transferred on both edges of the clock signal. This significantly improves performance of the 1066 MHz front-side bus Xeon processor. Memory Expansion Card (46M0071) allows you to upgrade your machine with up to eight memory expansion cards. System memory can be expanded to 1024 GB by adding 16 GB PC3-10600 CL4 ECC DDR3 SDRAM RDIMM in each of the 64 DIMM sockets. IBM System x3850 X5 server description High-performance server subsystems x3850 X5 servers are high-throughput, scalable SMP-capable four-, six-, and eightcore Xeon-based new servers. They deliver excellent scalability for adding memory, adapter cards, or multiple processors. Models are powered with four-, six-, and eight-core Intel Xeon processors that use 64-byte cache lines. EMT64T architecture supports 64-bit extensions. Four connectors for Xeon MP processors are standard on the system board. Highspeed PC3-10600 ECC SDRAM provides excellent processor-to-memory subsystem performance. The x3850 X5 system architecture is fine tuned and engineered to optimize the powerful Xeon processors.
