Some history about AENOR AENOR - Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification Private, non-profit and independent organization Legally responsible for developing and disseminating technical standards in Spain (RD 2200/1995) Founded in 1986. 24 technical committes and 7 800 standards during the first year In 1987 was designated the Spanish representative in CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, ISO and IEC Our Mision Through the development of standardisation and certification (S+C) activities, it contributes to improving quality in companies, their products and services, as well as protecting the environment and, consequently. The welfare of society as a whole

What is a standard? A standard is a technical document designed to be used as a rule, guideline or definition. It is a consensus-built, repeatable way of doing something. Standards are created by bringing together all interested parties such as manufacturers, consumers and regulators of a particular material, product, process or service. All parties benefit from standardization through increased product safety and quality as well as lower transaction costs and prices.

CEN Environmental Standardization

CEN Environmental Standardization Strategic Advisory Body on Environment The CEN Strategic Advisory Body on Environment (SABE) acts as a platform where the sectors and major stakeholders address environmental topics. http://www.cen.eu/cen/sectors/sectors/environment/sabe/pages/default.aspx ROLE: - To provide CEN/BT with the relevant information on environmental matters so that it can make balanced decisions on standardisation topics affecting the environment and to make proposals on CEN strategy on environmental issues - To assist CEN/BT with the negotiation and acceptance of EC mandates related to environmental issues and to assist Commission officers in the development of their views on standardisation - To encourage and promote exchange of information between CEN, key stakeholders and interest groups to ensure that all relevant environmental issues and views are considered in standards development

CEN Environmental Standardization The CEN Environmental Helpdesk (CEN/EHD) Provides information and support to CEN Technical Committees and Working Groups when addressing environmental issues in European Standards. ROLE: Develop environmental awareness among CEN technical bodies and encourage a systematic approach to integrate environmental aspects into standards. Structure environmental information and provide supporting tools available for TCs. Provide guidance to specific environmental projects within standardization.
