Welcome to KODAK Create@Home Software Software Updates Automatic updates We are continually improving Create@Home Software, and we want you to have the most up-to-date version. You must be connected to the Internet to install updates for Create@Home Software. Create@Home Software regularly checks for application and content updates, and automatically installs them when available. Manually checking for software updates Checking the software version Uninstalling Create@Home Software 1. On your computer, select Start > Programs > Create@Home > Check for updates. Or in the Create@Home Software, select Tools > Help > Check for updates. 2. If an update is available, click Yes to install it. In Create@Home Software, select Tools > Help > About. 1. On your computer, select Start > Programs > Create@Home > Uninstall. 2. Follow the prompts to uninstall the software. 1-2 July 2011

Option Home Preferences Tools Import/Export Prices & Special Offers Help Action Takes you to the home page from other screens. Includes the following options: Select Language Image Enhancement Auto Save Includes the following options when on the home page: Download software updates Display software information and version Exit Create@Home software Create a project file to use on other computers, or use project files created on other computers. Welcome to KODAK Create@Home Software Preferences Option Select Language Image Enhancement Auto Save Action Choose the default language for the software. Enhance images automatically. Enable or disable the option to automatically save your project. Choose how often you want the software to automatically save your project. Import/Export Option Import Export Action Navigate to the location of the project (.dpl) file you want to import, click Next, and follow the prompts. Save a copy of your project (.dpl) file to another location or to removable media. 1-4 July 2011

2 Creating a photo book To create a photo book, Start Create@Home Software, then select the option to create a new photo book at the home page. NOTE: Not all products shown in the graphic may be available. To access an existing photo book, click on it at the home page. You can also use the drop-down menu to arrange your projects by type, title, date, or most recently worked on. July 2011 2-1

Creating a photo book You have two options at the main photo book screen: Photo Book Wizard Start Empty Photo Book Click a photo book type and size to use the Photo Book Wizard to guide you through the creation of a photo book using pre-designed layouts. Click Start Empty Photo Book to manually create a photo book from beginning to end. Create a photo book using the Photo Book Wizard 1. Use the Photo Book Wizard to guide you through creating your photo book. a. Select a photo book type and size at the main photo book screen. b. Select a theme. c. Select and preview pictures recommends a minimum and maximum number of pictures to use based on the size of your photo book. d. Organize pictures. e. Place pictures by page. f. Create your photo book creates your photo book automatically based on the options you selected. 2. Use the Workspace and Page Browser to review your photo book. You can also use the tools in the Create@Home Software to customize your photo book. For more information, Customize your photo book on page 2-3. 3. When you are satisfied with the photo book, click Prepare Order to complete your purchase. For more information, see Placing your order on page 2-13. 2-2 July 2011

Start with an empty photo book layout and use the tools in the Create@Home Software to design your photo book. For details, see Customize your photo book. Creating a photo book Pictures/Templates Browser Your pictures, page backgrounds, page layouts, picture borders, picture shapes, clipart, and themes appear here when you select the appropriate tab. Pictures Browser tabs Scroll bar Get More Pictures 1. Select the Pictures tab. 2. Use the scroll bar to see more pictures. You can also add more pictures to the Pictures Browser by clicking Get More Pictures. For more information, see Selecting pictures. 3. Drag pictures from the Pictures Browser directly onto a page in your photo book. For more information, Add pictures to your photo book on page 2-5. Selecting pictures 1. Select Get more pictures in the Pictures/Templates Browser and navigate to the folder containing the pictures you want to add. 2. If you would like to use pictures from an online gallery (Picasa, Flickr, or Facebook): Click the folder listed for the online gallery that you want to access. Enter your login or e-mail address and password for your account. Click Log In. Once you are logged in, click Close. Click the folder of the on-line album that you want to select. 2-4 July 2011

Creating a photo book Add pictures to your photo book 3. Click: Select All to select all pictures in the folder, or select individual pictures. Selected pictures will have a yellow square around them. Deselect All to remove the check mark from all pictures in the folder. 4. Click OK to add the selected pictures to your Pictures Browser. 1. Drag and drop pictures from the Pictures Browser into the frames in your photo book. 2. If you drag and drop pictures from the Pictures Browser onto the pages in your photo book, the following menu items appear: Single Page Background places the picture on the selected page only. Two-page Spread Background places the picture across adjoining pages. This option is not available on the first or last pages. Layout picture automatically arranges the new picture and any other pictures on the page (recommended). Add picture places the picture wherever you drop it on the page. 3. Click and hold the picture to move it within the frame. Click and hold anywhere else within the frame to move the entire frame. Page Backgrounds 1. Select the Page Backgrounds tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Choose a page background and drag and drop it onto a page in your photo book. To change the background, drag another one onto the page. The following menu items will appear. Single Page Background places the background on the selected page only. Two-page Spread Background places the background across adjoining pages. 3. Click and hold the page background to reposition it. 4. To remove a page background, right-click on the page background and select Edit > Remove Page Background. July 2011 2-5

Creating a photo book Page Layouts 1. Select the Page Layouts tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to display page layouts of a specific type. 3. Choose a page layout and drag it onto a page in your photo book. To change the page layout, drag and drop another one onto the page. Customized Page Layouts You can make your own page layouts by moving, resizing, or adding frames. Click and hold inside a frame to drag it to a different location on the page, or resize a frame with the adjustable borders. To add new frames: 1. Right-click on the page. 2. Select Insert > Landscape Picture Frame or Portrait Picture Frame or, click Add picture frame. To save your customized page layout, click the Save Page As Layout button. Picture Borders 1. Select the Picture Borders tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to display picture borders of a specific type. 3. Choose a picture border and drag and drop it onto a frame in your photo book. 2-6 July 2011

Creating a photo book 4. To change the picture border, drag and drop another one onto the frame. The following menu items appear: Replace border - replaces the inside picture border with a new picture border. Replace outer border - replaces the outer picture border with a new picture border. Add to border - places the new picture border on the outside of existing picture borders. 5. To remove a border, right-click on the border and select Edit > Remove Border. Picture Shapes 1. Click the Picture Shapes tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to show picture shapes of a specific type. 3. Choose a picture shape and drag and drop it onto a picture in your photo book. To change the picture shape, drag and drop another one onto the picture. 4. To remove a page background, right-click on the page background and select Edit > Remove Picture Shape. July 2011 2-7

Creating a photo book Clipart 1. Select the Clipart tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to show clipart of a specific type. 3. Choose the clipart that you want to use and drag and drop it onto a page in your photo book. Choose from the following: Single Page Background places the clipart as a background on the selected page only. Two-page Spread Background places the clipart as a background across adjoining pages. Background overlay places semi-transparent clipart over the existing background for a layered effect. Add picture places a single piece of clipart on the page. Cancel do not add clipart to the page. 4. Click and hold the clipart to move it around on the page. 5. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the clipart. 6. To remove the clipart, select the clipart on the page and press [Delete] on the keyboard. Themes 1. Select the Themes tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Choose a pre-designed theme and drag and drop it onto a page in your photo book. NOTE: This will change all the pages in the photo book to the selected theme. Page Browser The Page Browser lets you: Go directly to pages by clicking on them - facing pages are located next to each other. Drag and drop pages to put them where you want. 2-8 July 2011

Creating a photo book Customization Tools Insert New Page Add/edit caption Add picture frame Actual Size Fit Page Zoom Out Zoom In The bottom toolbar has the following options: Option Add picture frame Add/edit caption Insert New Page Change Theme Change Book Actual Size Zoom In/Out Action Adds a blank picture frame to the page. Adds a caption box to the page. For more information, Add a Caption on page 2-12 Adds a blank page to the photo book, unless the photo book is already at the maximum number of pages. Lets you change the theme of the entire photo book. Lets you change the size and cover type of your photo book, but not the orientation. Displays the pages in actual size. Some of the pages might not be visible on the screen. Lets you zoom in or out on the page. July 2011 2-9

Creating a photo book Page Layout Tools B&W Filter Remove Filter Zoom Out Zoom In Sepia Filter Image Fading Remove Red Eye Image Enhancement This toolbar appears when you click the page background. These options are also available when you right-click a page background. Option Zoom In/Out Remove Filter B&W Filter Sepia Filter Image Fading Red Eye Reduction Image Enhancement Action Zoom in or out on the page background Removes all filters from the page background. Adds a black & white filter to the page background. Adds a sepia filter to the page background. Adjusts the amount of fading of the picture. Reduces red eye on picture subject. Automatically improves the image quality. Other tools available by right-clicking the page background: Option Delete Page Remove Page Background Remove Background Overlay Clear Page Add Drop Shadow to all Pictures Action Deletes the page and page contents from the photo book. Removes the page background, but leaves pictures and frames. Removes the page background overlay. Removes all pictures, frames, etc. from the page, leaving a blank page. Gives all pictures a 3-dimensional appearance. 2-10 July 2011

These options also appear when you right-click a picture. Option Picture Alignment Picture Order Picture Rotation Add Drop Shadow Zoom In/Out Picture Filters Red Eye Reduction Image Enhancement Action Center on Page Center Horizontally on Page Center Vertically on Page Bring Forward Bring to Front Send Backward Send to Back Rotate the picture clockwise or counter-clockwise. Gives the picture a 3-dimensional appearance. Zoom in or out on the picture. Add black & white or sepia filters. Reduces red eye on picture subject. Automatically improves the image quality. Creating a photo book Additional Picture Tools Option Alignment Image Fading Action Select two or more pictures on a page, and then select Alignment to adjust the selected pictures as a group. Select a picture and then select Image Fading. Use the slider to adjust the amount of fading of the picture. Adding pages and frames These options appear when you right-click a page in the photo book. Option Insert New Page Append New Page Landscape Picture Frame Portrait Picture Frame Action Adds a blank page immediately after the page that is displayed in the photo book workspace. Adds a blank page after the last page in the photo book. Adds a landscape picture frame. Adds a portrait picture frame. Captions Add a Caption You can add captions to your photo book pages or directly to individual pictures. 1. Click the Add/edit Caption button. 2. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the caption box. 3. Type your text in the caption box. 2-12 July 2011

Creating a photo book Edit a Caption Caption Toolbar Placing your order Review The caption toolbar appears when you click on a caption box. Use the caption tools to change the: Font type, size, and color Style of text Bold or Italic text Left, right, or center justification Alignment on the page Rotation on the page Caption order bring to the front or send to the back. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the caption box. Click and hold within the caption box to position it on the page. When you have finished working on your photo book, click Review to get a Validation Report. Review helps you improve the quality of your photo book by showing you pages and pictures that might need additional attention. July 2011 2-13

Creating a photo book Prepare your photo book Place an order online 1. Click Prepare Order. 2. Review your photo book on the Document and image Resolution Report. 3. Click Continue to proceed with your order, or Cancel to continue editing. 4. Click View Pages to view a printable proof of your photo book. You must have ADOBE ACROBAT Reader to view the proof. 5. Click View Cover to view a printable proof of your photo book cover. You must have ADOBE ACROBAT Reader to view the proof. NOTE: View Cover appears only when you have a custom cover. 6. Read the waiver and select the box if you are satisfied with your photo book. IMPORTANT: You cannot print your photo book until you select the box next to the waiver. 7. Click Continue to upload or save your photo book to a file. IMPORTANT: Do not click Continue more than once. If you are uploading your photo book, it will take some time depending on your connection speed. How long does it take to upload my file? on page 8-3. IMPORTANT: The choices that appear on the Place Order dialog box will vary based on your available fulfillment method. 8. At the Place Order dialog box you can select: Place order online now if you have an internet connection you can upload your order for immediate processing. Continue with Place an order online. I prefer to bring the files with me to a store copy your files to removable storage media to bring to a store - or send the files to a store. Continue with Fulfill your order at a store on page 2-15. 1. At the Place Order dialog box, select Place order online now. 2. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase. 2-14 July 2011

Creating a photo book Fulfill your order at a store 1. At the Place Order dialog box, select I prefer to bring the files with me to a store. 2. Enter your name, telephone number or email address. Click OK. 3. Click OK. 4. At Name and Save Project File : Select the location to save your file. Type the name of your project file. Click Save. 5. Make a note of the folder where you saved the file, and click OK. 6. Save your project file to a CD or other removable media and take it to a store for printing. July 2011 2-15

Creating a photo book Alternative Upload Method Use the Alternative Upload Method if you receive a Communication Error when you try to upload your photo book and you have verified that your Internet connection is working correctly. 1. Click Try Alternative Method. 2. Click OK. 3. Type a name for your photo book file in the File Name field. 4. Browse to the folder where you want to save your photo book file, and click Save. 5. Make a note of the folder where you saved the file, and click OK. 6. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase. 2-16 July 2011

Creating a calendar Create a calendar using Calendar Wizard Use the Calendar Wizard to guide you through the following steps to create your calendar using pre-designed layouts. 1. Select the calendar type and size. 2. Select a template. 3. At Customize Calendar, select: the month and year in which the calendar will start optional national and religious holidays NOTE: Click Skip to design if you want to leave the Calendar Wizard and continuing designing the calendar on your own. 4. Select at least 13 pictures. The first 13 pictures you select are placed in the calendar; other pictures will appear in the Pictures Browser. Click Next. 5. Drag the pictures to arrange the order in which they appear. Click Next. 6. Add an optional caption to the cover page or an individual month. Captions appear above or beside the picture depending on which calendar you selected. Click Next. 7. Enter personal events such as birthdays and anniversaries. NOTE: Click the X to remove a personal entry. 8. Click Done. The Calendar Wizard automatically creates your calendar based on the options you selected. 9. Use the Workspace and Page Browser to review your calendar. You can also use the tools in the Create@Home Software to customize your calendar. If you would like to use pictures from an online gallery (Picasa, Flickr, or Facebook): Click the folder listed for the online gallery that you want to access. Enter your login or e-mail address and password for your account. Click Log In. Once you are logged in, click Close. Click the folder of the on-line album that you want to select. 3. Click: Select All to select all pictures in the folder, or select individual pictures. Selected pictures will have a yellow square around them. Deselect All to remove the check mark from all pictures in the folder. 4. Click OK to add the selected pictures to your Pictures Browser. Add pictures to your calendar 1. Drag and drop pictures from the Pictures Browser onto your calendar. 2. Click and hold the picture to move it within the frame. Creating a calendar Page Layouts 1. Select the Page Layouts tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Choose a page layout, and drag and drop it onto a page in your calendar. To change the page layout, drag and drop another one onto the page. Picture Borders 1. Select the Picture Borders tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to show picture borders of a specific type. 3. Choose a picture border, and drag and drop it onto a frame in your calendar. 4. To change the picture border, drag and drop another one onto the frame. The following menu items appear: Replace border - replaces the inside picture border with a new picture border. Replace outer border - replaces the outer picture border with a new picture border. Add to border - places the new picture border on the outside of existing picture borders. 5. Choose a picture shape and drag and drop it onto a picture in your calendar. 4. To change the picture shape, drag and drop another one onto the picture. 5. To remove a picture shape, right-click on the picture and select Edit > Remove Shape. Clipart 1. Select the Clipart tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to show clipart of a specific type. 3. Choose the clipart that you want to use and drag and drop it onto a page in your calendar. 4. Click and hold the clipart to move it around on the page. 5. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the clipart. 6. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the caption box. 3. Type your text in the caption box. Edit a Caption Caption Toolbar The caption toolbar appears when you click on a caption box. Use the caption tools to change: Font type, size, and color Style of text - Bold or Italic text Left, right, or center justification Alignment on the page Rotation on the page Caption order bring to the front or send to the back. Creating a calendar Personalize your calendar The following options appear when you click and select the days and dates grid of the calendar. Be sure to thoroughly review the layout of your calendar after you use any of these options. Change the color and font for empty cells, holiday cells, and regular day cells. Change the size and shape of the day cells. Change the location and size of the date within a day cell. Add a miniature view of the current, previous, or next month to all pages or just the selected page. Change the day and month names. Add a secondary calendar. Select the language. Change the month and year on which the calendar will start. Add or remove default holiday days. Change the day on which the week starts. Add or remove national and religious holidays. Use the slider bar to fade the background of the date area. When the date grid is unlocked, you can select and move the date grid on the page. Creating a calendar Placing your order Review Prepare your calendar Place an order online When you have finished working on your calendar, click Review to get a Validation Report. Review helps you improve the quality of your calendar by showing you pages and pictures that might need additional attention. 1. Click Prepare Order. 2. Review your calendar on the Document and image Resolution Report. 3. Click Continue to proceed with your order, or Cancel to continue editing. 4. Click View to view a printable proof of your calendar. You must have ADOBE ACROBAT Reader to view the proof. 5. Read the waiver and select the box if you are satisfied with your calendar. IMPORTANT: You cannot print your calendar until you select the box next to the waiver. 6. Click Continue to upload or save your calendar to a file. IMPORTANT: Do not click Continue more than once. If you are uploading your calendar, it will take some time depending on your connection speed. How long does it take to upload my file? on page 8-3. IMPORTANT: The choices that appear on the Place Order dialog box will vary based on your available fulfillment method. 7. At the Place Order dialog box you can select: Place order online now if you have an internet connection you can upload your order for immediate processing. Continue with Place an order online. I prefer to bring the files with me to a store copy your files to removable storage media to bring to a store - or send the files to a store. Click Try Alternative Method. 2. Click OK. 3. Type a name for your calendar file in the File Name field. 4. Browse to the folder where you want to save your calendar file, and click Save. 5. Make a note of the folder where you saved the file, and click OK. 6. Save your project file to a CD or other removable media and take it to a store for printing. Use the Alternative Upload Method if you receive a Communication Error when you try to upload your print order and you have verified that your Internet connection is working correctly. 1. Click Try Alternative Method. 2. Click OK. 3. Type a name for your print file in the File Name field. 4. Browse to the folder where you want to save your print file, and click Save. 5. 7 Creating a poster To create a new poster, start Create@Home Software, then select the option to create a poster at the home page. NOTE: Not all products in the graphic may be available. To access an existing poster project, click on it at the home page. You can also use the drop-down menu to arrange your projects by type, date, or most recently worked on. July 2011 7-1

Creating a poster You have two options at the main poster screen: Poster Wizard Skip to Design Use the Poster Wizard to guide you through the creation of a poster, using pre-designed layouts. Manually create a poster from beginning to end. Create a poster using the Poster Wizard Create a poster manually Use the Poster Wizard to guide you through creating your poster. 1. Select the type and size of poster. 2. Navigate to the folder containing the picture you want to use for the poster, then select the picture. 3. Customize your poster. You can rotate, crop, and zoom in/out. 4. Click Done. The Poster Wizard automatically creates your poster based on the options you selected. 5. Use the Workspace to review your poster. You can also use the tools in the Create@Home Software to customize your poster. For more information, Customize your poster on page 7-3. 6. Creating a poster Selecting pictures 1. Select Get more pictures in the Pictures/Templates Browser and navigate to the folder containing the pictures you want to add. 2. If you would like to use pictures from an online gallery (Picasa, Flickr, or Facebook): Click the folder listed for the online gallery that you want to access. Enter your login or e-mail address and password for your account. Click Log In. Once you are logged in, click Close. Click the folder of the on-line album that you want to select. 3. Click: Select All to select all pictures in the folder, or select individual pictures. Selected pictures will have a yellow square around them. Deselect All to remove the check mark from all pictures in the folder. 4. Click OK to add the selected pictures to your Pictures Browser. 7-4 July 2011

Creating a poster Clipart 1. Select the Clipart tab in the Pictures/Templates Browser. 2. Select the drop-down menu to show clipart of a specific type. 3. Choose the clipart that you want to use and drag and drop it onto your poster. 4. Click and hold the clipart to move it around on the poster. 5. Use the adjustable borders to change the size of the clipart. 6. To remove the clipart, select the clipart on the page and press [Delete] on the keyboard. July 2011 7-5
