4 Welcome! What is Speedy Report? Speedy Report is designed to quickly and easily without having to be a specialist in the SQL script to build reports. Many companies hire expensive consultants to create reports to Excel, HTML, Text files. With Speedy Report allows you to create complete reports within minutes and publish them via Speedy Report Client. Speedy Report also supports running the same report to multiple databases. Technical? Speedy Report, the first release supports Microsoft SQL Server version 2000 to 2012. The intention is to support so many types of servers as possible. Speedy Report is divided into two software's: Speed Report Speedy Report is designed to make it as easy as possible to select which columns from the database that you want to build a report and the program automatically calculates relational connections between the tables. Speedy Report has programmable interface that makes it very easy to formatting columns, to the desired format. The same applies to conditional questions. Conditions is then captured in the conditions form where the user enters their values. Reports can be run in customizable conditional form. From conditions form you can also set which report formats as desired. The reports format Speedy Report supports, Excel, Text, HTML, Access, XML. The reports may be customized and stored in various ways. For example, one can mention that the report will be saved to the folder or open the associated application. There is also support for running a report as a batch job. Speedy Report Client The other software is Speedy Report Client to be installed separately. From Speedy Report exported the finished reports and imported into Speedy Report Client. It is also possible to use password protection on the installed reports so the user can not remove them. Speedy Report Client can be installed on a shared server such as Citrix, Terminal Server, etc.

5 Preparations To get started, you need a user account to SQL Server. Recommended rights are read-only rights. Speedy Report supports Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication. 7 Create Report Choose connection and press Continue. Overview

8 Tree View From the tree view, select which columns are required. Right-click on one or more tables with function Browse Table, gives you access to the tables, so you can easily search for information in the tables while you are building your query. Right-clicking on any of the ID columns click Search Related Columns will show you relationships with other tables.

9 Query Settings - Name/Order Naming columns In the Name/Order, you determine the names of the columns in the Name column. Formatting Columns Left-Click the Column Formatting column and available column formatting appears. Any formatting options appear to the right. Column Formatting are controlled by the type of column, if there is a date, string or numeric, etc. These settings are programmable and missing something, add a new format in Settings.

10 Add Column Formatting Right-click the column formatting, and select Add Column Formatting. The function Add Column Formatting makes it possible to apply multiple formatting of a column. The picture above shows Replace to remove '-' and Add Start, which adds 'ID '. Note! You can also right-click and select Help if you need instructions about formatting. 11 Merge With Another Column In this example, we will merge the two columns that contain first (au_fname) and last name (au_lname). Right-click in Column Formatting column and select Merge With Another Column. After the merger of the columns, we add the Add Start formatting with word space. 13 Query Settings - Conditions Left click and select Column Left-click and set the condition type Condition settings Left-click operator selection, (AND) or (OR) Conditions order Delete conditions When you set the conditions, you start from the left and ends on the right. There are many conditional types to choose from. These settings are programmable and missing something, add a new conditions in Settings. Below shows the results of the above conditions settings.

Adjust manually Delete row Speedy Report counts normally be appropriate relational links between tables. If there is a need to adjust, click the Adjust Join Note! If you adjust manually, do not get the green highlighted area contain duplicates of the same columns. 16 Query Settings - Query Options In the Query Options, you can set limits on the number of rows that the query should generate. Default value is set to 500 000 rows. If you do not want the query containing identical rows tick in Exclude rows with identical information (DISTINCT).

17 Output Formats If you do not tick Use Conditions Form will selected Output Format to apply. In order to test the selected Output Format you must run the query, and then press Export. Output Formats - Edit In Edit Output Formats, it is possible to create your own report format. The report format that you create are saved with the report. If you want user-defined reports formats should be standard in Speedy Report, press the Save As Default Settings button, located under Settings.

18 In Speedy Report, there are five different types of reports that can be customized in various ways. Excel Text (Delimited) HTML Access (.mdb) XML Common settings for the different formats is to report files can be opened with associated application, save as dialog or save with fixed paths. There are also options for backup.

19 Output Formats - Excel Excel report format can be set in three different ways. Version 2007 supports over 65,000 rows while version 2003 up to 65,000 rows. Excel, tab-delimited text is text-based and faster than the other formats.

20 Output Formats - Text (Delimited) Text (Delimited) report format can be set differently. You can set the column delimiters and wrappers. There is also support for the desired encoding.

21 Output Formats - HTML With HTML format, you can adjust color, font, Border Style, add Header Text and logo (Optional Pictures Url). The example above shows one of the standard reports that come with Speedy Report. Are you going to use the report to change your Header Text to the desired text, If you do not have a logo delete Optional Pictures Url. The image below shows how the above settings look like:

22 Output Formats - Access Speedy Report's Access Export is designed to export to Access 2003 (. mdb). In the current version there is no support for other versions. Please, contact us at support@imsoftly.com if you have the desire to Speedy Report should support the newer versions. Output Formats - XML XML export contains three different options: XML Without Schema, With Schema and Separated Files (.xml +.xsd)

23 Conditions Form Tick the Use Conditions Form to activate Conditions Form. With the Export With CF, try Conditions Form works. Settings button lets you customize the Conditions Form in many different ways. The picture above shows a conditional sample image below shows how the Conditional Form looks without changing the settings. On the next page, we will show how it is possible and set the Conditions Form.

24 Conditions Form - Settings Before you set the Conditions Form, make sure that you have tested the query. The reason for this is that the settings are lost if you press the Build Query. 27 Conditions Form - Adjust Manually, creating query with parameters The above picture shows how to use parameters manually created query. @Payterms is a string value and @Royalty is numeric value. To add a parameter in the Conditions Form, you must register parameter in Conditions Form Settings and press Add Parameter.

29 Settings - General Settings menu is programmable and can be customized. With the Save As Default Settings, you can overwrite the default setting and create your own settings model. If you change your mind, press the Reset To Factory Settings. Note! Save As Default Settings includes the customize Output Format. With Creating Column Name As you can choose how Speedy Report naming the columns. The values that can choose between Column (default), Table + Column or Schema + Table +Column SQL Reserved Words are pre-programmed according to Microsoft SQL Server reserved words. This means that all those words will be labeled [reserved word]. If a reserved word is missing, you have the option to add.

30 Settings - Column Formatting In Column Formatting, you can create your own Formatting functions. If you believe that any formatting is missing that you think should be standard in Speedy Report, we are grateful if you can email us at support@imsoftly.com, so we evaluate it and try to get it in the next version. If you create a new Column Formatting, press New and Update when done. If you want to save expression as default setting, press Save As Default Settings. Explanation of the Expression @Column = Column Name @Value1 = Entered value 1 @Value2 = Entered value 2 @Table = Table Name Note! Input Type and output Type is important, for example if you use Add Column Formatting. With Is Aggregate Function is meant that the expression that you create contains an aggregate function such as SUM (), MAX (), etc. In Enter Help Text it is possible to add explanatory help text.

31 Settings - Conditions The settings in the conditions are basically similar but slightly fewer settings as column formatting, except that we create conditions. See the previous chapter. The difference is: Allows Multi Values is reserved for conditions that use multi values, example WHERE column_name IN (value1,value2,...). Conditions that are labeled with 'names + (x)' means: (S) = String (N) = Numeric (D) = Date or Time

32 Manage Connections Select New to create a new connection to the server. Data Source - Server name or IP address. User Credentials - Enter user account to SQL Server, Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication Initial Catalog - Enter the name of the database you want to connect to.

33 Advanced Properties Use Square Brackets [ ] On All Identifier - If you want the columns and tables, the scripts that you create in Speedy Report shall be marked by square brackets. All other settings in the Advanced Properties, we refer to the Microsoft Connection Properties http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms677227(v=vs.85).aspx

34 Import Report Import Report makes it possible to import the report that is created by another installation of Speedy Report. After importing, you can use the Modified Connection to change the SQL Server connection. Qr-files are stored under user\documents\speedy Report. Alternatively, it is possible and paste the files directly under the folder. Export Report From here you save the qr-file which can then be installed on Speedy Report Client or another installation. With Modify Connection Before Export, you can change the SQL server connection before exporting. Modify Connection Modify Connections, change the SQL Server connection on selected report.

35 Multi DB Connections Multiple DB Connections makes it possible to run the same sqript against multiple databases. To use this feature, you must tick the Activate Multiple DB Connections. Use Add to add database connections. If you tick the Create Connection ID Column, the report will contain a Connection ID Column. ID Column Name, enter the name of the column. In this example, we name the column to Company ID and set the Connection ID to 1000 for Pubs and 2000 Pubs2. Note! Using up arrow and down arrow you can set the order.

36 The picture below shows when a report is run with Enable Choose Connections. This function makes it possible to choose the Connection ID (in this example, Company ID) you want to report. Note! If you have many Connection ID, you can select more than one at a time, right click on your mouse and choose the Select or Unselect. This is how it look like, if the report is created in Excel format. Note! Company ID column is created as the first column.

38 Batch jobs or start individual conditions window You can start reports as a batch job (or service), or if you just want to start a Conditions Form without the main menu, you use the command below: speedyreport.exe /R "Report Name 1" Or if you want to run multiple reports simultaneously: speedyreport.exe /R "Report Name 1", "Report name 2", etc Examples.bat file: Note! If you need and run reports from house developed applications, you can start Speedy Report as an external process.

40 Speedy Report Client Speedy Report Client is designed as a single installation. The client is for users who need access to the reports created in Speedy Report and do not need to create their own reports.
