The features described in this data sheet are being progressively added to the CardaxFT Controller during 2002/2003. Please contact Cardax f further infmation. Cardax FT Controller 3000 Cardax FT Controller 3000 The Cardax FT Controller 3000 is a cost effective, intelligent field controller, with integrated I/O functionality, f Cardax FT systems. Linking with the Cardax FT Command Centre f Series 3 Series 5, the Cardax FT Controller 3000 integrates I/O functionality and do control. Cardax FT Controller 3000 The Cardax FT Controller 3000 is a key integrated component f Cardax FT security systems. It is an intelligent controller incpating a 32 bit Intel microprocess. It makes all the access control decisions in the system. The structure of Cardax FT systems is very flexible. F example, a single alarm relay can be switched in response to several alarm conditions detected by a number of Controllers. Conversely, an input may be used to control a number of outputs, on different Controllers, such as lighting and air conditioning. With built in connectivity, the Cardax FT Controller 3000 provides a cost-effective approach to engineering a Cardax FT Series 3 Series 5 system. Up to 4 8 dos can be controlled with the Controller 3000, dependent on reader technology and site configuration. All I/O functionality is provided on the Controller 3000. Integrating Cardax Readers The Cardax FT Controller 3000 is capable of suppting up to 8 dos with Cardax readers, depending on the required site configuration. Refer to the Configuration Table f me details. The Controller 3000 suppts the following Cardax do readers: Cardax Prox (125, TIRIS, Mifare) Cardax Prox Plus (125, TIRIS, Mifare) Cardax Prox LR (TIRIS) Cardax Swipe (Magstripe) Cardax Swipe Plus (Magstripe) Integrating Third Party Readers The Cardax FT Controller 3000 is capable of suppting 4 dos with Wiegand fmat readers. Refer to the Configuration Table f me details. Moniting and Controlling Inputs and Outputs The Controller 3000 contains inputs and outputs, which can be used f do moniting and control, f general I/O functions. The Controller 3000 monits and repts the state of the balanced inputs, and makes decisions to switch output relays, if required. Inputs The Controller 3000 has 16 4-state balanced inputs. The four states monited (using two 4k7 Ohm resists) are: Open Closed Sht Circuit (Tamper) Open Circuit (Tamper) The inputs on the Controller 3000 can be used to monit: Access controlled dos Intruder detection (Passive Infra-Red detects PIRs)

Uncontrolled dos Equipment alarms Any other devices that provide a clean contact. Outputs The Controller 3000 contains 8 relay outputs, primarily f use as do control relays. Relays not required f this function may be used as: Alarm outputs, e.g. to activate sirens Logic activated outputs, e.g. to switch on air conditioning Time activated outputs, e.g. to switch on lighting. Distributed Intelligence and Data Stage The Cardax FT Controller 3000 stes security parameters and a resident cardholder database to enable it to carry out access control and security functions. The resident cardholder database stes access data f cardholders who will access the areas associated with that Controller 3000. It enables the Controller 3000 to make access control decisions instantaneously. Access control infmation f cardholders who are not included in the resident cardholder database is requested from the Cardax FT Command Centre when required, and then sted in the Controller 3000 database. The distributed intelligence suppted by the Controller 3000 enables it to operate independently from the Cardax FT Command Centre. This means access control f resident cardholders and other security functions will continue if communications fail between the Command Centre and the Controller 3000. The impact on cardholders will thus be minimised. All events and alarms are date and time stamped befe being sent to the Cardax FT Command Centre Server. Each Controller 3000 is capable of buffering events should communications with the Command Centre fail. The Controller 3000 will transfer the buffered events to the Command Centre automatically when communications are re-established. The number of cardholder recds is set at 30,000 and the size of the event buffer at 5,000 events. Communications The communications between the Cardax FT Controller 3000 and the Cardax FT Command Centre use TCP/IP, a wld standard netwk and Internet transmission protocol, over an Ethernet netwk. The Controller 3000 provides a standard 10BaseT connection point. Remote Cardax FT Controller 3000s can be connected to the system via a TCP/IP Wide Area Netwk (WAN). Dial-Up Dial-up enables the Controller 3000 to be located remotely enabling the Controller 3000 to transmit infmation: At scheduled times When their event buffers are becoming full In response to certain events. Likewise, the Cardax FT Command Centre can be programmed to dial a Controller 3000 at scheduled times, when an operat initiates a request. Dial-up can also occur via an ISP, improving netwk security and reducing communication costs. These software upgrades can be implemented over the netwk through Cardax FT Command Centre. Looking to the future, this will enable new features and functionality to be quickly and easily installed. The following are examples of situations where future software upgrades to the Controller 3000 would be downloaded over the netwk: Enhanced functionality Specialised logic control functions (PLC) Expansion board interface board suppt. Data Security All data over the netwk between the Cardax FT Controller 3000 and the Cardax FT Command Centre Server is encrypted to 40-bit, using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. The standard is similar to technology used to secure Internet banking transactions. High-level (168-bit) encryption is an optional licensed feature. Intruder Alarms The Controller 3000 provides sophisticated intruder alarm management, making separate intruder alarm systems superfluous. Entry and exit delays can be configured to give the cardholder time to enter leave the premises. Full event details, including the cardholder s name, are recded f set/unset operations at Cardax FT Command Centre. Setting and unsetting of alarms can also be implemented accding to a time schedule. A relay output may be used to indicate the set/unset status of a particular alarm zone. Lift Control The Cardax FT Controller 3000 provides lift access control using the I/O functionality provided. Card readers can be installed in lift cars to provide restricted access to flos. When a Cardax Prox Plus reader is installed, the cardholder can be prompted to enter their PIN befe access is granted. Flos may be unlocked (i.e. the lift flo select button enabled) on a time schedule. The Controller s flexible design enables it to be configured f lift control. Typically each lift car requires one card reader and one relay output f each flo select button. If destination repting is required then one input is needed f each flo select button in each lift car. The Controller 3000 has been designed to suppt a high level interface f lift control. In this case, the number of lift cars and lift shafts is limited only by the length of the wiring to the card readers and not the input/output capacity. High-level lift control will be developed as required (please contact Cardax f me infmation). Power Supply The Cardax FT Controller 3000 runs on 13.6V DC ±15% allowing a standard battery backed 12V power supply to be used. The system monits the power supply f power low, power high, and power fail. It is recommended that installers attach a backup power supply to the Controller 3000 so it can continue to operate f at least 24 hours in the event of a mains supply failure.

Cardax FT Cabinet (with Cardax FT Controller 3000) The backup power supply can be monited by using inputs on an alternative Controller 3000. Clock The Cardax FT Controller 3000 contains its own super-capacit backed realtime clock. The clock is synchronised with the Command Centre at least once per hour. Managing Different Time Zones and Daylight Saving When the system is being configured, each Cardax FT Controller 3000 is assigned an international time zone, relative to Co-dinated Universal Time (UTC). This includes daylight savings settings. The system recds the local time an event was registered at the Controller 3000 and the time it was logged at the Command Centre Server. Cardax FT Cabinet The Cardax FT Cabinet is a secure enclosure f the Cardax FT Controller 3000. It provides cost-effective housing and includes many features designed to make installation and servicing easier. The design of the Cardax FT Cabinet enables several Cabinets to be installed side by side, neatly fitting together. Each Cabinet has a lockable lid that can be installed, on site, to hinge from either side. When the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is installed in the Cardax FT Cabinet, optical tamper protection is provided. The front optical tamper detect will sense when the Cabinet do is opened. The rear optical tamper detect will sense if the Cabinet is being removed from the wall. Manufactured from a strong ABS alloy, the Cardax FT Cabinet has a UL94 flame rating of V0. The Cardax FT Cabinet can house one Cardax FT Controller 3000. The Controller 3000 must be mounted in a Cardax FT Cabinet following the directions in the installation instructions to comply with international emission standards such as C-Tick, FCC and CE.
