The Specialist Task Forces Transportation STF 395 (Phase 1 and 2): Configuration and validation of channel congestion control methods of ITS and techniques for co-existence cooperative ITS / Dedicated Short Range Communication and performance and potential for the STDMA medium access STF 420 ITS G5 Channel Configuration, Channel selection, Link Layer Control, and interfaces between the Access Layer and Network & Transport Layer STF 421 G5 radio conformance testing in support of Interoperability
Transportation Deliverables so far -1 - ES 202663 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); European profile standard for the physical and medium access control layer of Intelligent Transport Systems operating in the 5 GHz frequency band This European profile standard is based on IEEE 802.11 and further requirements stated in work items for the physical and MAC layer at ETSI. This profile standard will be the base standard for developing 5 GHz ITS conformance declaration and test standards.
Deliverables so far -2 - Transportation TS 102687 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); Decentralized Congestion Control Mechanisms for Intelligent Transport Systems operating in the 5 GHz range; Access layer part TPC specifications for operation in the 5 GHz range to satisfy: regulatory requirement, congestion control and networking, inter-layer management, further requirements if identified. (details were presented in the ETSI ITS Workshop in Venice 2011)
Transportation Deliverables so far -3 - TR 102861 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); STDMA recommended parameters and settings for cooperative ITS; Access Layer Part An ETSI TR on the recommended parameter settings for using STDMA TR 102862 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); Performance Evaluation of Self- Organizing TDMA as Medium Access Control Method Applied to ITS; Access Layer Part An ETSI TR on the performance of STDMA in road traffic scenarios (further details will be presented in Session 7)
10 m 10 m Ongoing activities Transportation Mitigation DSRC - ITS A Technical Report TR 102 290 with Simulations, Calculations and Measurement will be finalized soon. Initial results show that Co-Existence will be possible under specific conditions and with mitigation techniques. Lane Width Tolling Zone The Technical Specification TS 102 792is at present on hold as the revision of the present draft is pending on the final conclusions of TR 102 290. CEN DSRC RSU CEN DSRC RSU Tolling Zone Lane Width Channel Specifications The Work on ITS G5 Channel Configuration, Channel Selection, Link Layer Control, the interfaces for the Access layer and the radio conformance testing is pending on the co-existence studies as well. They are on the way by STF 420 and STF 421. (further details will be presented in Session 7)
Next Steps -1 - Transportation Timing -All standards have to be finalized up to mid 2012 Implementation of techniques for high traffic load -S-TDMA Self-Configuring TDMA - MS-Aloha Mobile Slotted Aloha - DTDMA Decentralized TDMA or other techniques Harmonisation of ITS Channel Congestion Control - research in other Regions, e.g. US, Asia, - specific algorithms
Transportation Next steps -2 - Other Media - Infrared (CALM) -63 64 GHz ITS (EN 302686) available and published! - VHF/UHF ITS Communications protocol? -2G/3G Co-Existence with Other (new) Systems in the 5 GHz Range - is e.g. DA2G Direct Air to Ground Communication a candidate? - other future Systems in the neighbourhood Setting of priorities for the Access of e.g. Killer-Applications - huge bandwidth requirements - mass market requirements -Safety or nice to have Requirement for further spectrum? - Appropriate Spectrum is a rare resource!
Transportation Outlook -1 - It works, but have we considered that all elements are on board?
Transportation Outlook -2 - Is there a clear way forward?
