Downloading Legal Library The Legal Library provides both fast and easy fill in and in-line customization to the boiler plate text of your electronic forms. Legal Library is a add-in for Microsoft Word that will need to be installed onto your computer. Because of this, the Legal forms will not be accessible online or for Apple users. To begin, make sure you are logged into CBA s site and then select Legal Library under the Resource Tab to locate the correct version to download.
Selecting your Download Version Select the current Microsoft Office version being used on your computer Click here to preview a list of available legal forms within the Legal Library Click here to watch a video tutorial with download instructions
Selecting your Download Version Open up a new Word document and select File Determine the bit size of your Microsoft Word software. It will either be 32- Bit for 64-Bit. The add-in function will not appear correctly if it has been installed under the wrong Bit. Locate and select Account towards the bottom of the left side bar in the File screen Then select About Word to get product and licensing details
Selecting your Download Version In this example, we are using 2016 Microsoft Version is 32-Bit
Installing Legal Library Once you have verified which Bit version to download for Microsoft Word, make your way back to CBA s website and select the correct download file When the download is complete you should see a tab in the bottom ribbon of your computer screen. Click this download to open up the software installation pop-up screen Click Run on the new software pop- up box that appears
Installing Legal Library Continue to click Next on the following installation prompts that will pop-up in the middle of your screen
Installing Legal Library You may need to log back into your Microsoft Account to allow the program to make changes to your computer. If you are unsure of your username and password please reach out to your internal IT Department When you have successfully downloaded the Legal Library Add-in you will see the final pop-up indicating that the installation is complete. Click Close
Installing Legal Library In order for Microsoft Word to reflect this update you will need to close ALL open Word documents and then reopen a new blank document. You should see the Legal Library on the top right hand side of your Microsoft Word Document. Make sure the top ribbon or tab is not hidden in your Microsoft Word settings.
Troubleshooting Download Issues Two of most common issues with the Legal Library download: The Legal Library button is not visible in the top ribbon of a Word Document The Legal Library button is visible, but it will not open when you click on it Note: These issues can also happen later when an update has been made to your Microsoft Office Account If you have just completed the installation, but the Legal Library button is not appearing in the top left corner- First go back and double check the Bit version of your Microsoft Word to verify you selected the correct download type. Then double check that the top of your Word Documents that the Ribbon Tab is not hidden
Troubleshooting Download Issues If you are still not able to see the Legal Library check to ensure the Add-in button is not disabled For Word 2007: Click MS logo (upper left cover) and choose Word Options from the bottom of the drop-down menu. Click on Add-ins. At the bottom where it says Manage Com Add-ins, select Disabled Items from the drop-down menu, and click Go. Re-enable the Legal Library. Close out & reopen to use. For Word 2010/2013/2016: Click File and choose Options. Click on Add-ins on the left. At the bottom where it says Manage Com Addins, select Disabled Items from the drop-down menu, and click Go. Re-enable the Legal Library. Close out of Word and reopen a new document to refresh the update. *Picture examples are taken from Microsoft Word 2016
Troubleshooting Download Issues If the Add-in button is not disabled, but still not showing up- Check to ensure the Add-in button is not Inactive For Word 2007: Click MS logo (upper left circle) and choose Word Options from the bottom of the drop-down menu. Click on Add-ins. At the bottom where it says Manage Com Add-ins, select Go. Put a check mark next to Legal Library. You should now see LL icon at top right corner of ribbon Word 2010/2013/2016: Click File and choose Options. Click on Add-ins on the left. At the bottom where it says Manage Com Add-ins, click Go. A box will appear and you should see Legal Library in that list without a check mark, put a check mark, click OK. Close out of Word and reopen a new document to refresh the update. Activating Legal Library Licensing Legal Library is a free downloadable service to all CBA members. In order to protect this service all CBA members are given a renewable Legal Library License for a 6 month period When you launch the Legal Library for the first time a License Manager pop-up will appear. This pop-up will state in the instructions tab that you have a trial license. However, you will not be able to access the Legal Library Forms until your actual license is activated
Activating Legal Library License If your office already has a shared Legal Library ID and you know the 36 character ID then you may be able to auto- download a license here. If this is not successful then complete the Manual License Request Click here to request a new license. You will receive your new license information from the CBA staff within a few minutes during business hours Enter your new license code here once you receive it via email from CBA
Activating Legal Library License After you submit the Manual License Request you will receive an email with your new License File. Right click the File attached and select Save As. Please do not try to open the file Save the new license file to your computer. We recommend saving to your desktop so the file is easy to find later.
Activating Legal Library License After you have saved your License File open up a new word document and select the Legal Library. Then click on License Manager in the middle of the top banner Select Manual License Request "and click on Import License File Located and select your saved license file. Then click Open
The Legal Library home screen will always reflect Legal Library 2007 regardless of the version you downloaded Launching Legal Library After you have activated your new license please close out of Legal Library and all Microsoft Word documents. You will not be able to access any legal forms until you have restarted the program Every time you close out of Legal Library you will see a small box appear in the upper left had side of your computer screen. Please do not close out of this window until all Legal Library updates have been completed
Accessing Legal Forms Select LL Forms List from the top left side A list of forms will popup in the center of your screen. Scroll to select the legal form you need You can open forms for editing or in Read Only for printing Note: CBA staff cannot recommend or give advice on the use of Legal Documents during a transaction
Editing Legal Forms Click Fill-in Form Fields when you want to fill in the existing fields in the forms OR Click Edit Text when you want to make changes directly in the form. The text will change color indicating a change as been made. When deleting, the text will receive a line crossing out the text indicating it has been removed. When adding new verbiage the text will appear in italic font indicating the text is not from the original document
Click Export Draft Copy Exporting a Draft Copy Brokers can send a watermarked (DRAFT) Word copy of their forms in.doc/.docx format Once you open your newly saved export file from your computer you will see the document now has a Draft watermark in the center Save your document in an easy to remember place on your computer. Note: Software versions prior to Microsoft 2016 may automatically save in a Legal Library folder created at the time of installation
Importing Draft You can remove the Draft watermark and merge any additional changes made to the document by importing the reviewed document back into the Legal Library. This will convert the document back to.cbdx format. Click Import Reviewed Document Note: Don t forget to save the new revised document when your client sends it back to you in an easy to remember folder on your computer Select the document you want to import back into Legal Library. Once imported the form will automatically convert without the watermark
Click to Export form to PDF Export to PDF Documents in the Legal Library can be exported into a PDF file. Exporting as a PDF creates a locked PDF file that can be emailed for signature A pop-up will appear when you have created the PDF. Close out of this window and then open up your document from your computer Save your file as a PDF in a location on your computer that is easy to remember Note: Microsoft Word Versions before 2016 may be automatically saving under Reviewed Documents or Original Documents in the Legal Library folder that gets added onto your computer under My Documents when you install Legal Library
Renewing Legal Library License A six month license is provided to protect our Legal Library for members. You will receive the first notice within 30 days of your Legal Library License expiration. When it is time to renew, you will receive a pop-up window after launching the Legal Library advising you when your access will expire Please ensure you renew as soon as possible from the time you receive this message to ensure your access is not restricted during a critical time of your transaction

If this does not work please use the Manual License Request Click here to renew your license.
