Brightspace Platform 10.7.5 Release Notes 1

5. Enroll a learner to this course. 6. Impersonate the learner you enrolled and navigate to the Org home page. 7. Under the My Courses widget, click View All Courses. 8. Click on the filter and select the check box associated to the semester you just created. 9. Observe that you can see the course where you enrolled the learner. PRB0055083 (Daylight) Previously, in Brightspace Learning Environment, when using Edge or Firefox browsers, if the Course Overview widget and the Course Image Banner were enabled on a homepage, that homepage did not load (users saw a blank screen). Now, in Brightspace Learning Environment, when using Edge or Firefox browsers, if the Course Overview widget and the Course Image Banner are enabled on a homepage, that homepage loads, as expected. Fixed in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.5. 26

Known Issues D2L is committed to releasing high quality products that perform as expected. To keep you informed about the product issues most likely to impact your environment, the Known Issues List consists of newly discovered and commonly reported issues that can be consistently reproduced by D2L. For more information on when an issue was first reported, see the Found in statement in the issue description. Activity Feed PRB0055456 When attaching files to an assignment post in the Activity Feed, if the file fails to upload, a generic error message displays. This does not provide the user with any information on why their upload failed. Uploads can fail if the files size is too large, the file extension is not supported, or an internal error occurred. 1. Access a test course with Activity Feed on its homepage. 2. In the Activity Feed, click Create a post. 3. Click Assignment, enter a title, and select the File Upload icon. 4. Drag and drop a large file (>2MB) into the Upload a File window. 5. Observe the 'Something went wrong, please check your post.' error message that displays. Announcements PRB0055229 (Daylight) When you author content on the Homepage in Daylight, the global line-height enforcement impacts the rendering of user authored content, specifically customized fonts and font sizes. Fonts over 36 pts. appear cut-off at the top of the text line. Modifying font size in HTML Editor to correct the issue disrupts page text and image layout for mobile users. As a workaround, avoid using font sizes larger than 42 pts. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.2. 1. Log in to Daylight-enabled Brightspace. 2. Access a test course that has the Announcements widget on its home page. 27

3. Click Announcements. 4. Click New Announcement. 5. Enter a title and text. 6. Click the HTML Source Editor and set the font size above 42 pts. 7. Click Publish. 8. Navigate to the course Homepage. 9. Observe the top of the text is not displayed. Assignments PRB0054322 When an instructor makes multiple submissions to a Submission Folder in preview mode, a 500 error is produced. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.3.0. 1. Log in to Brightspace as an Instructor 2. Navigate to a Test Course, and select Assignments. 3. In Assignments, create a new Submission Folder. 4. Preview the new Submission folder. 5. Select checkbox next to the Allow this preview submission to be available in the folder option. 6. Submit a file to the Submission Folder. 7. On Submission Confirmation page, select Upload More files. 8. Select checkbox next to 'Allow this preview submission to be available in the folder' option. 9. Submit another file to the Submission Folder. 10. Observe that a 500 error is produced. PRB0055436 If a Dropbox is quicklinked to open in the same frame from a content item, submissions scroll down infinitely when viewed. As a workaround, modify the quicklink to open in a new window, or enter the assignment from the Assignments tool to start grading submissions. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.3.0. 1. Log in to Brightspace as an Administrator user. 2. Create a dropbox under Assignments. 3. Create and submit documents to the dropbox. 4. In the same course, create a Content item. 28

5. Create a quicklink from the dropbox to the newly-created Content item. Ensure the quicklink opens in the same window as the Content item. 6. As an Instructor, click the quicklink and then click on a submission. 7. Document viewer loads in the iframe. Observe the page scroll continuing without ending. PRB0055713 When launching the Google Picker from the Assignments tool, the dialog renders its own cancel button even though the Google Picker provides a cancel button of its own. This results in two Cancel buttons displaying. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.5. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Assignments. 2. Click New Submission Folder, and enter a name. 3. Click Add Attachment, and select Google Drive. 4. Click Continue to Google Drive, choose your Google account, and enter your credentials. 5. Observe that the Google picker displays two Cancel buttons. PRB0055206 In an assignment submission folder that has mare than 20 submissions, if an instructor navigates to the second page of results, and then access a different assignment submission folder with less than 20 submissions they receive an error. The page information is retained from the first assignment submission folder, when you select the second folder Brightspace Learning Environment attempts to put you on the second page or results, which does not exist, causing an error to occur. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.5.0. 1. Access a test course that has at least 21 learners enrolled. 2. On the navbar, select Assignments. 3. Create an assignment submission folder, and upload a submission from at least 21 learners. 4. Create a second assignment submission folder, and upload a submission from a single learner. 5. Open the assignment submission folder with 21 submissions, and navigate to page 2 of the results. 6. Return to the Assignments tool, and open the assignment submission folder with one submission. 7. Observe the error message that displays. 29

PRB0055685 When links to existing activities are attached to an assignment submission folder, if those links are date restricted or in a draft state, learners receive an error message when selecting them. As a workaround, ensure that when linking to existing activities, the items you link to are available to learners. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.5. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Content. 2. From an existing unit, click Upload / Create, and select Create a File. 3. Enter a title, and click Save as Draft. 4. From the navbar, select Assignments. 5. Click New Submission Folder, enter a name, and click Add Attachment. 6. Select Existing Activity, and from the list of Course Materials, select Content. 7. Select the draft file created in the previous steps. 8. Click Restrictions and deselect Hidden from users. 9. Click Save and Close. 10. Click on your name, and select View as Student. 11. From the navbar, select Assignments. 12. Locate the submission folder created in the previous steps and click on the attachment. 13. Observe the Page Not Found error that displays. Brightspace for Parents PRB0055385 When a parent with multiple children logs into their Brightspace for Parents account, selecting a child, clicking back on their browser, and selecting another child takes them to the Student Dashboard for the child they initially selected. 1. Log in to Brightspace for Parents as a parent with more than one child linked to their account. 2. Select one of the children, and click back on your browser. 3. Select a different child. 4. Observe that the Student Dashboard displays for the child you selected first, and not the child you selected most recently. 30

PRB0055391 In Brightspace for Parents, when viewing the user tile of a Student who is enrolled in only one course, the custom-uploaded course image serving as the background for the tile fetches an invalid URL and produces a 403 error. 1. Log into Brightspace as an Administrator. 2. Enroll a Student in one course and set a custom image as course image. 3. Log out of the Administrator account. 4. Log in as the Parent of the student. 5. Observe the user-tile background is not set, and that an error exists in the browser console. PRB0055581 When using Brightspace for Parents on an ios device, selecting a portfolio item as a Parent user generates an error message, and the user is returned to the Parent homepage. 1. Log into Brightspace for Parents on an ios device. 2. Select a Student on the Parent homepage. 3. In the Student Dashboard, select any Portfolio Item. 4. Observe the error message that displays. Brightspace Platform PRB0055409 Clicking Select or Cancel when accessing the OneDrive and/or Google Drive upload causes the content of the window to disappear, while the window itself remains open. As a workaround, ensure the browser link is accessing a secured connection (i.e. begins with https). The error is determined to be caused by a http/https mismatch. Using https resolves the issue. 31

Bulk Tool Configuration PRB0052181 When selecting components in Import/ Export / Copy Components, or viewing the Bulk Tool Configurations, the components are no longer listed in alphabetical order. This is because of the following language term changes in Brightspace Learning Environment; Announcements replaces News, and Assignments replaces Dropbox. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.6.1. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Course Admin. 2. Click Import / Export / Copy Components, and click Search for offering. 3. Search for a course, select the radio button next to its name, and click Add Selected. 4. Click Select Components. 5. Observe that all components are in alphabetical order, except for Assignments and Announcements. Classlist PRB0055500 (Daylight) When using Internet Explorer to view a class list in Daylight-enabled Brightspace, user images appear horizontally-compressed relative to their original resolution. As a workaround, use browsers other than Internet Explorer to avoid image compression. Found in Daylight-enabled Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.1. 1) Log into Daylight-enabled Brightspace as an Administrator. 2) Click Course Admin. 3) Select Class List. 4) Observe the horizontal compression of user images in the class list. Content PRB0053466 In an ios browser, when a user opens an LTI based Content Topic Link that points to a PDF file, the PDF only displays the first page of the document. 32

As a workaround, copy and paste the URL associated with the PDF in the browser to display the complete PDF. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.3.0. 1. Log in to Brightspace as an Administrator using any desktop browser. 2. Select any course. 3. In the course, click Content. 4. Scroll down the page and click Add a module. 5. Create a module. 6. Click Add Existing Activities 7. Select External Learning Tools. 8. Select the Create New LTI Link option. 9. Create a title for the LTI link and provide a web address link for a.pdf file. 10. Open the link in the desktop browser and observe that the PDF file opens completely. 11. Log out of Brightspace from your desktop browser. 12. Log into Brightspace as an Administrator using an ipad browser. 13. Navigate to the PDF link and select the link. 14. Observe that the PDF only displays the first page of the document. PRB0055103 When content objects containing metadata that have been copied from one course to another are shared, metadata changes in the course receiving the copied content also change the metadata of the original content in the original course. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.6.3. 1. Log into Brightspace as an Administrator. 2. Create two courses. 3. In the first course, create a content link and add it to the course. Ensure that there is metadata attached to the content created in the first course (click the arrow beside the content object(s) and select Edit Metadata. Insert information into any of the metadata fields). 4. Copy the content from the first course to the second course using Copy Course Components. 5. View the copied content, and select Edit Metadata on the content object in the second course. 6. Change any piece of the information in the metadata fields in the second course content object. 7. Save your changes. 8. Return to the first course, and select Edit Metadata on the content object that was copied into the second course. 33

9. Observe that the metadata changes made to the content object in course two are now present in the course one content object. PRB0055441 When a learner submits a survey that contains unanswered questions, the survey's content item is not marked as completed, and the completing tracking for the unit is not updated. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.3. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Content. 2. Create a unit, click Upload / Create, and select New Survey. 3. Enter a title and click Publish. 4. Click Survey Setup, and then Add / Edit Questions. 5. Create two questions of any type, click Done Editing Questions, and then Save and Close. 6. Navigate to the Classlist, and impersonate a learner. 7. Go to the Content area and open the survey created in the previous steps. 8. Answer the first question, and click Submit. 9. On the confirmation popup, click Yes. 10. Observe the warning: You have 1 unanswered question. 11. Click Submit. 12. On the confirmation popup, click Yes. 13. Return to the content area and observe that the survey's content item does not have a check mark next to it, and the percentage of topics complete has not been updated. PRB0055540 When viewing Panopto videos within D2L, the full screen button for the video does not function. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.3. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Content. 2. Select a unit, click Upload / Create, and select Create a Link. 3. Enter a title and include a URL to a Panopto video (Example: https://howtovideos.hosted.panopto.com/panopto/pages/viewer.aspx?id=a242ed77-2215-46ab-ab9f-b0f7165a2a1f). 4. Ensure the Open as External Resource box is not checked, and click Create. 5. Open the link created in the previous steps. 6. Observe that the full screen button does not function. 34

PRB0055700 - Daylight When adding files to course content using the Add from Manage Files option, the Files of Type filter is not visible if there are too many items in the Manage Files area. 1. Access a test course that has at least 5 items in the Manage Files area. 2. From the navbar, select Content. 3. Create a module, and click Upload / Create. 4. Select Add from Manage Files. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the Add a File dialog box. 6. Observe that the Files of Type filter is not visible or partially hidden behind the file grid. Discussions PRB0055220 In Discussions, on the Delete Forums and Topics page, checking the Select all box does not activate the Delete button. As a workaround, on the Delete Forums and Topics page, select an individual forum or topic and then check the Select all box. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.4.6. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Discussions. 2. Click New, and select Forum. 3. Enter a title, check the Create a new topic in this forum with the same title box, and click Save and Close. 4. Repeat the above process so you have 2 forums and 2 topics on the Discussion List. 5. From the Discussions List, click More Actions, and select Delete. 6. Check the Select all box. 7. Observe that the Delete button is not activated. HTML Editor PRB0055516 Images uploaded to the HTML Editor using Insert Stuff require link text to be entered to insert the item. As a workaround, use Insert Image to upload images that do not require link text. 35

Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.3. 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Content. 2. Create a unit, click Upload / Create, and select Create a File. 3. Click Insert Stuff, and select My Computer, Course Offering Files, or Shared Files. 4. Choose an image file from one of the above locations, and click Upload. 5. Observe that Link Text is a required field that must be completed to insert the image. Lessons PRB0055397 In Lessons, with the Date Picker calendar open, when you resize the Schedule your Units dialog box an error occurs. The error shows a blank Date Picker calendar box. As a workaround, clicking out of the Date Picker and clicking either the Start or End Date reopens the Date Picker in the resized dialog box. 1. Log in to Brightspace Learning Environment and access a test course with lessons enabled. 2. Click Schedule your Units. 3. In the Schedule your Units dialog box, click either the Start or End Date Picker. 4. With the Date Picker calendar open, resize the Schedule your Units dialog box by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the window. 5. Observe the blank dialog box that displays. PRB0055408 When logging in to a OneDrive account to add material to a Lessons unit, using Internet Explorer 11.1358 or Edge 38.14393 browser, the authorization pop-up does not load properly. This prevents users from accessing OneDrive. As a workaround, use an alternate browser to access OneDrive accounts from Brightspace. Steps to reproduce: 1. Log in to Brightspace as an Instructor. 2. Select a course that has Lessons enabled. 3. Click on the first Unit. 4. From the Add Lesson dropdown menu, click Add Material. 36

5. Click OneDrive. 6. Click Continue to OneDrive. 7. Enter your OneDrive account login credentials. 8. Observe that you are not taken to the OneDrive account. PRB0055005 Uploading large files using the File Upload method in Lessons can fail. When this occurs, no feedback is provided on the cause of the error. The maximum file size is dependent on browser memory and network speed; Chrome: ~280MB, Safari: ~280MB, Edge: ~250MB, FireFox: ~150MB. As a workaround, add large files to Google Drive, and then add the material to Lessons from your Google Drive account. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.0. Quizzes PRB0055573 When learners access their submissions for a quiz they completed, and the submission view for the quiz includes the permissions to view quiz submission questions along with the answer they selected, they are able to select a different answer in the submission view. The radio button next to the answer they selected is not static, therefore they can select an alternate answer as if they were taking the quiz. This change is not saved and the selected answer in the submitted quiz does not update. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.3 1. Access a test course, and on the navbar, select Quizzes. 2. Click New Quiz, enter a name, and click Add / Edit Questions. 3. Click New, and select Multiple Choice Question (MC). 4. Enter question text, add a value for each option, and set the weight of one option to 100%. 5. Click Save, and then click Done Editing Questions. 6. Click Restrictions, and set the status to Active. 7. Click Assessment, and check the Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion box. 8. Click Submission Views, and click Add Additional View. 9. Enter a name, select the Yes radio button for Show Questions. 10. Ensure the radio buttons for Show all questions with user responses, Show question score and out of score, and Show attempt score and overall attempt score, are all selected. 11. Click Save, and then click Save and Close. 12. Navigate to the Classlist, and impersonate a learner. 37

13. From the navbar, click Quizzes. 14. Select the quiz created in the previous steps, and click Start Quiz! 15. On the Confirmation window, click OK. 16. Select any answer for the multiple choice question, and click Go to Submit Quiz. 17. Click Submit Quiz, and then Yes, submit quiz. 18. Observe that on the Submission View page the learner can change which answer they selected. User Progress PRB0054505 If a role doesn't have permission to display in the classlist, users with this role do not appear in User Progress. This occurs even when the Can have User Progress permission is enabled. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.6.4. 1. Log in to Brightspace Learning Environment, click Admin Tools, and select Roles and Permissions. 2. Click Create / Copy, choose the learner role, enter a name, and click Copy. 3. Click Edit Settings, deselect the Display users enrolled as this role in classlist checkbox, and click Save and Close. 4. Edit the permissions for the new role and ensure the See User Progress permission is enabled at the course offering level. 5. Enroll a user into a test course using the new role. 6. Navigate to the Class Progress page and observe that the newly enrolled user is not visible. Widgets PRB0055408 When logging in to a OneDrive account to add material to a Lessons unit, using Internet Explorer 11.1358 or Edge 38.14393 browser, the authorization pop-up does not load properly. This prevents users from accessing OneDrive. Workaround (if applicable): Use an alternate browser to access OneDrive accounts from Brightspace. Steps to reproduce: 1. Log in to Brightspace as an Instructor. 2. Select a course that has Lessons enabled. 38

3. Click on the first Unit. 4. From the Add Lesson dropdown menu, click Add Material. 5. Click OneDrive. 6. Click Continue to OneDrive. 7. Enter your OneDrive account login credentials. 8. Observe that you are not taken to the OneDrive account. PRB0055690 In a course with multiple sections, instructors may receive a timeout while loading the Updates widget on a course homepage. This occurs more frequently if instructors do not have access to all sections in a course. As a workaround, customize the widget and deselect the Show the number of new assignment submissions checkbox. Found in Brightspace Learning Environment 10.7.3. 39
