Installing your new multimedia keyboard 1 If you have not already done so, disconnect your old keyboard. Many keyboards use purple connectors at the back of the computer tower, but yours may be different. Headset and microphone connectors USB connector 2 Connect the keyboard (purple connector) to an available USB port on your computer. USB ports may be located anywhere. Optional: Connect the additional USB (black) connector to another USB port on your computer. This will enable the USB port on the keyboard. Optional: Insert the pink connector into the microphone jack. Optional: Insert the green connector into the speaker jack. The keyboard will synchronize automatically. There is no need to restart your computer. Page 2 KB3100MF_um_CS2.indd 2

Installing your new keyboard (cont d) 3 Connect your other peripheral devices to the keyboard. Microphone and headset extension ports Plug your headset or speakers into the headset extension port on the left side of the keyboard. Optional: To use both headset and speakers, plug your speakers into the bypass jack attached to the green connector. Plug your microphone into the extension port on the left side of the keyboard. Bypass jack Use the USB extension port on the right side of the keyboard to connect other USB devices. Note: If you did not make the optional connections in Step 2, you will not be able to connect other devices to your keyboard. The keyboard only needs the purple USB connection to function. Customizing keyboard hot keys Back Forward Stop Refresh Home Mute Stop Play/Pause Next Previous - Volume + Volume The hot keys at the top of the keyboard perform different functions depending on which of your programs is active. For example, the Home button will launch your browser if the browser is not already open. If it is, then the Home button will take you to your Home page. If you want to customize the hot key functions, download and install the driver located at: www.microinv.com/drivers Search Favorites E-mail My Computer Calculator Page 4 KB3100MF_um_CS2.indd 4

Changing key lock status The green LED next to the Number Lock, Caps Lock, or Scroll Lock icon will illuminate if the lock is on. Press the appropriate lock key to change the lock status. Maintaining your multimedia keyboard Regular maintenance ensures a longer product life and minimizes the chance of causing damage to your keyboard. Always disconnect the keyboard before cleaning it. Keep all liquids away from the keyboard working area to avoid spills. Do not try to repair any part of this product. Only Micro Innovations Corp. may service or repair its products. Page 5 KB3100MF_um_CS2.indd 5

Troubleshooting Problem The keyboard hot keys do not work, or the keyboard is typing the wrong characters. The keyboard is not responding. Solution Uninstall any previous keyboard software on your computer. Press a letter key. If the keyboard is still not responding, restart your computer. Reducing the risk of injury Some experts believe that the repeated use of any keyboard may injure your hands, arms, neck, or back. To reduce the risk of these injuries: Take frequent breaks and vary your tasks throughout the day. Keep your shoulders relaxed with your elbows at your sides. Position your keyboard so you do not have to reach for the keys or do not need to rest your wrists on sharp desk edges. Adjust the height of your chair so your wrists are straight. If you feel any pain, numbness, or weakness, you should seek help from a qualified health professional immediately. Page 6 KB3100MF_um_CS2.indd 6
