Hardware Installation 1. Plug the included USB cable into the USB input port on the rear of the USB SoundWave Optical 5.1. 2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into an available USB port. 3. Plug the included Fiber optic cable into the Toslink optical output port of the USB SoundWave Optical 5.1. 4. Plug the other end of the Fiber optic cable into an Optical input port of a digital receiver/decoder. Hardware installation is complete, now go to Driver Installation to complete the installation. Driver Installation Windows 98SE 1. At the Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next. 2. Click Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended), then click Next. 3. Click Next, Next, then Finish. 4. Repeat steps 1-2. 5. Click Next, then Next. 6. At the Insert Disk box, insert your Windows 98SE Installation CD-ROM, then click OK. 7. At the Copying Files window, type in D:\Win98, then click OK. (Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter) 8. Click Finish. 9. Repeat steps 1-3 to complete the installation. 3
Windows ME 1. Install the sound card and start your system. At the Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next. 2. Click Finish to complete the installation. Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 automatically detects and installs the correct driver for the USB SoundWave Optical 5.1 when connected. Verify Successful Installation 1. Check Device Manager to verify successful driver installation. Windows 98SE/ME: From the main desktop, right click My Computer, click Properties, then click Device Manager. Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003: Right click My Computer, click Manage, then click Device Manager. 2. Double click Universal Serial Bus controllers, USB Composite Device should be displayed. 3. Double click Sound, video and game controllers, USB Audio Device should be displayed. 4
WinDVD Installation WinDVD is the premiere DVD software player for the Windows platform, providing you with the finest video and audio playback. 1. Insert the WinDVD Installation CD. The setup program should start-up automatically. If not, click Start, Run, type in D:\Setup.exe, then click OK. (Change D: to match your CD-ROM drive letter) 2. Click Yes if prompted to install DirectX 8.1 update. This update is necessary for WinDVD to perform correctly. If you currently have DirectX 8.1 or later installed you will not see this option. 3. At the Welcome screen click Next. 4. Click Yes to accept the licensing agreement. 5. Type in your Name, Company and Serial number (located on the CD-ROM sleeve). 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 5
