This analysis helps identify strengths and weaknesses in litigatin strategy, and leads t better preparatin fr depsitins, interviews, and trial. Using Imagine yu're an attrney preparing fr the biggest, and mst cmplicated case f yur career. Yu're already using as yur dcument review system, but with all the case details yu're gathering, yu need a centralized place t rganize the peple, facts, issues, rganizatins, and dcuments pertaining t the case. Yu're using a generic filing system, but are having truble keeping yur infrmatin synced with the case dcuments. Using, yu start tracking case details right in the wrkspace. Yu create new facts, r pieces f infrmatin abut the case, and link existing facts t dcuments n-the-fly during the dcument review phase. This helps yu assciate infrmatin with particular dcuments in. As yu prepare fr the depsitin, track client interview questins and answers in fr future case reference. Yu generate a time line reprt with clr-cded facts in t manage and view the case as it prgresses. Link existing facts t a reprt, then generate the reprt t shw yur client during the depsitin. Nte: Yu must have valid Cmmunity credentials in rder t dwnlad any Cmmunity file linked t the dcumentatin site. Yu'll need t enter thse credentials n the Cmmunity lgin screen if yu're nt already lgged in. If yu're already lgged in t the Cmmunity at the time yu click a link, the file is autmatically dwnladed in the bttm left crner f yur screen. If yu get an errr message stating "URL N Lnger Exists" after clicking a Cmmunity link, it may be due t a single sign-n errr related t the SAML Assertin Validatr, and yu shuld cntact yur IT department. The applicatin is available fr dwnlad in the Cmmunity. Use the steps belw t imprt using the Imprt frm file ptin. 1. Click the Applicatins tab. 2. Click the New Applicatin buttn. 3. Click Imprt Frm File fr Applicatin Type. 4. Click n the and navigate t the place f yur Schema and select it. The fllwing categries n the frm shuld aut-ppulate: Applicatin Infrmatin, Applicatin Artifacts, and Map Fields. Nte: Yu can link the unlinked fields t existing fields, r yu can prceed with the imprt and all unlinked fields autmatically ppulate. 5. Click Imprt. 4. Save grup permissins and clse. is nw is successfully installed. All ther permissins behave in standard fashin within. 1.3.2 Migrate data fr versins 7.4 and higher cntain a Migrate Data buttn in the cnsle f the Cnfiguratin tab. The migrate data functinality is designed t transfer data frm fr 7.3 and lwer t the newly upgraded versin. Once yu've upgraded frm a versin 7.3 r lwer, yu must cnfigure the applicatin. Once cnfigured, use the Migrate Data buttn t transfer the data frm the previus versin int the newly upgraded versin f. Nte: Use the Migrate Data functinality befre entering infrmatin int, because the entered data is verwritten during migratin. 1.3.3 Upgrading T upgrade the applicatin, dwnlad the newly released schema frm the Cmmunity and imprt it int the Applicatin Library. Yu can find infrmatin abut prduct updates in the release ntes. Nte: If yu have made any mdificatins t Case Dynamics, thse will be lst upn upgrade. 1.4 Accessing Access using the tab lcated in the wrkspace where yu installed the applicatin. Nte: The applicatin must be installed n each wrkspace. The applicatin uses libraries where yu can enter and stre infrmatin in relatin t the case. Reprt Set Timeline Builder The guide addresses Reprt Set, Printing Prfile, and Timeline Builder in later sectins. 1.4.1 Viewing a library item Nte: This guide illustrates screen cntent based n the sub-tab. The data entry screens and practices fr the libraries are similar. T view a library item: 1. Click the tab. 2. Click the tab. 3. View the list f previusly entered facts. T view additinal details, click. 1.4.1.1 Setting a default viewing mde Yu can set Parent Mde r List Mde as the default inline view by clicking the Parent Mde r List Mde buttn. Guide 15

Status - Displays the status f the fact - the chice selectins can be custmized t a user s wrkflw. Descriptin - A field fr describing fact in greater detail. Date Type - Designates whether the event ccurred n r arund a single date, r between tw dates. Primary Date - Dentes the date when the fact ccurred, r the start date fr an event that ccurred between certain dates. End Date - Recrds the cmpletin f a fact that tk place ver a perid f greater than ne day. Excerpt - Stres extracted relevant dcument text supprting the fact. Dcument - Links wrkspace dcuments t the fact. Organizatins - Links a party r multiple parties, usually crprate entities t the fact. Guide 17

Peple - Links peple t the fact. Interview Questin - Links interview questins t the fact. Cmments - Additinal infrmatin, mental impressins r messages t clleagues, related t the fact. System Last Mdified By - The name f the user wh last mdified the entry. System Last Mdified On - The date and time the entry was last mdified. Fr ther library items, see Library data entry fields n page 37. 1.5.1 Adding a Child Yu can nest r add a Child t s, Issues, and Interview Questins. T add a Child: 1. Click next t the Parent name in the rw. 2. Save the child using shrtcut keys Ctrl + S nce yu ppulate the fields r save and add a new child using Ctrl + N. 3. Once yu've created a Child, the icn appears next t the Parent. Click the arrw t cllapse r expand the Child s. 1.6 Issues Yu can rganize issues in the Issues tab using several methds, including nesting, numeric utlining, drag and drp, and clr cding. 1.6.0.1 Infinite nesting Yu can create issues and nest sub-issues, als knwn as creating parent/child relatinships. There is n nesting level cap. The numeric rdering functinality ccurs when creating an issue. Guide 18

The values aut increment and are editable. As yu build issues ut, the numbering takes the highest number value and increments it by 1 fr the next issue. Children r sub-issues als inherit the clr f the parent issue. 1.6.0.2 Drag and drp T drag and drp an issue, click and drag the issue's rw t: Nest the item in anther issue Rerder the item abve r belw an issue A blue bar indicates where the item will g when yu release yur muse click. In the fllwing nesting example, drpping 2.4 Brazil int 2.3 Peru will nest Brazil as a sub-item f Peru. Guide 19

In the fllwing rerdering example, drpping 2.3 Brazil in between will renumber Brazil t 2.2. The item that yu click and drag autmatically is assciated with the parent item t which yu assign. Guide 20

Deleting issues If yu delete a parent item with children, will unlink any assciated children instead f deleting the child bjects. Yu can delete the child issues by selecting the checkbx(es) next t the child item and perfrming a mass delete. 1.6.0.3 Clr cding Use clr cding t visually distinguish the parent issues and any f its children frm the ther parent issue grups. 1. T create a new issue, click New Issues r press Ctrl + A. By default, a new issue is gray. 2. Select t apply a new issue clr frm the palette. Yu can change the parent issue clr at any pint by selecting the issue, then. 3. Click Save when finished. The chsen parent issue clr is delineated with the same clred line at the bttm f each parent item. Guide 21

1.6.0.4 Keybard shrtcuts Keybard shrtcuts in the Issues tab nly wrk within the issue grup level in which yu're currently wrking. Fr mre infrmatin, see Inline cding keybard shrtcuts and icns n page 16. 1.6.0.5 Issues views By default, the Issue view is cnfigured t crrectly display Issues. If creating a new Issue view, ensure that the fllwing Set Srt fields are in this rder: Family Order - This whle number field cntains the numeric value f parent issues nly. Order - This fixed-length text field cntains the numeric values fr parent and child issues. Family Structure Order - This whle number field helps create the utline structure f all the issues. 1.6.0.6 Issues RDC imprt (Optinal) Yu can imprt an Excel file cntaining Issues with assigned numeric rder and clr cding. The example belw shws hw each issue and sub-issue crrespnds t the imprt file. Dwnlad a sample Nested Issues Imprt Template file fr use n the 9.2 Dcumentatin site, and refer t the belw list f clr cding hex values when custmizing yur Issues imprt. T imprt issues int using the Desktp Client (RDC). 1. Ensure that yu've frmatted the Excel imprt file crrectly. 2. Open the RDC and select the wrkspace t which yu are imprting issues. 3. Select the Issues bject, then click Tls > Imprt > Issues Lad File... 4. Ensure the fllwing settings are selected. Guide 24

5. Map the fields as shwn belw and ensure Append/Overlay is selected befre imprt. 6. Click Imprt > Imprt File. 1.7 Printing Prfile In rder t print frm, yu must create a Printing Prfile. T create a Printing Prfile: 1. Frm the Printing Prfile sub-tab, click New Printing Prfile. 2. Add infrmatin in the Printing prfile layut. See Printing prfile layut fields n the next page. 3. Click Save. 4. Click the s sub-tab. 5. Select the facts yu want t print. 6. Frm the mass actins drp-dwn, select Print. Guide 25

7. Select the prfile that yu just created. 8. Click Print. 1.8 Printing prfile layut fields The Printing Prfile layut cntains the fllwing fields: Name - the name f the printing prfile. Orientatin - select an rientatin fr the printut sheet. Guide 26

Object Type - select an bject type frm the drp-dwn list. The selected bject type determines the available fields t chse frm. Fields - click t select available bject fields t include n the fact printut sheet. Header - the prfile name appears here. Nne - select this ptin t nt include a header name. Wrkspace Name - select this ptin t use the Wrkspace Name as the printing prfile name. Text - select t enter a custm header. Header psitin - select a psitin fr the header. File type - select an Image r Prduced file type. Print cntrl number n images - select whether t print the cntrl number n imaged dcuments. Include dcument placehlders - select whether t include placehlders fr dcuments that have nt been imaged r prduced. 1.9 Wrking with dcuments in When reviewing a dcument, yu can create a new fact and link it directly t the active dcument. Yu can als link the fllwing t an existing fact: An excerpt frm a dcument Issues Peple Organizatins Nte: Yu can't edit layuts because the applicatin is designed t capture nly fields that are related t the applicatin. 1.9.1 Add an excerpt t a new r existing fact T add an excerpt t a new fact: 1. Click the Dcument tab. 2. Click the dcument link. 3. On the dcument, highlight the excerpt, then right-click. A menu appears. 4. Click > Add Excerpt t New. 5. In the Layut pane, the Create New windw pens. This cntains the same New Details fields used when entering a new fact, and shuld be cmpleted in the same way. Guide 27

6. Enter the infrmatin and click Save r Save and Next t add anther fact t the dcument. T add an excerpt t an existing fact: 1. Click the Dcument tab. 2. Click the dcuments link. 3. On the dcument, highlight the excerpt, then right-click. A menu appears. 4. Click > Add Excerpt t Existing s. 5. A pp-up cntaining existing facts appears. 6. Check the bxes next t the (s) that apply t the excerpt. 7. Click Add, then click Set. Yu can view the excerpts when yu view s frm the s tab. 1.10 Timeline Builder Being able t visualize the chrnlgy f s adds value during the stages f a case life cycle. Yu can use timeline reprts t: Dcument the basic flw f events after an initial client cnsultatin. Identify behaviral patterns that aid case strategy develpment. Guide 28

Serve as a clr-cded illustrative exhibit during trial. 1.10.1 Creating a Timeline Reprt T create a Timeline Reprt: 1. Click the tab. 2. Click the Timeline builder sub-tab. 3. Enter a Name. 4. Primary Date - Dentes the date when the fact ccurred, r the start date fr an event that ccurred between certain dates. The ptin is range when selected and blue when de-selected. - Draw Mde. This is the default mde, click and drag facts arund n the timeline t yur specificatin. - Paint Mde. Select this mde t apply a clr t a fact. See Applying a clr t a fact n the next page. - Hrizntal Timeline. This is the default display mde, and displays the timeline hrizntally. - Vertical Timeline. Display the timeline vertically. - Enable /Disable Brders. Select this mde t enable the dtted brder guidelines when saving the reprt t a PDF. Any fact utside f the brder wn't appear in the PDF reprt. - Enable/Disable Clr Legend. Select this mde t shw/hide the clr legend. Only used clrs appear in the legend. Guide 31

The persn that yu send this email t must have access. - Exprt the reprt in the selected file type frmat (PDF, LS, CSV, IMAGE). Create Offline Reprt - Select this buttn t create yur ffline reprt cntaining all f the pre-selected facts frm yur timeline reprt. See Offline reprt belw. 1.10.2.1 Applying a clr t a fact T apply a clr t a fact: 1. Ensure that yu're in Paint Mde. The clr palette appears. 2. Select a clr frm the palette. 3. Lcate and click the fact that yu wish t change clr. 4. The fact clr is nw changed. T change the fact t a different clr, repeat steps 2-4. Nte: Yu can select the default light gray clr t "reset" the fact clr. 1.11 Reprts 1.11.1 Offline reprt Yu can view s, Issues, Peple, Interview Questins, and Related Dcuments withut Internet access with an Offline reprt. 1. Click the tab. 2. Click the Reprt Set sub-tab. 3. Click the New Reprt Set buttn. 4. Enter infrmatin in the Reprt Set fields. See Reprt Set fields n the next page. 5. Frm the Reprt set type drp-dwn, select Offline Reprt. The Offline Reprt Setting ptins display. Nte: The Include dcument files in ffline reprts field is set t Yes by default. Once linked, the facts, issues, peple, r questins appear under the (Reprt s) and/r the issues (Reprt issues) sectins. T run the reprt: 1. Frm the Reprt Set Cnsle, click Generate Reprt. A.ZIP dialg displays. 2. Save this t a desired lcatin. 3. Open and extract the.zip file t view the fact, issues, peple, r questin files. 4. In the.html reprt page, click the hyperlinks t view the applicable dcument in the desired riginal frmat. The Dcuments flder in the.zip file is cntains sub dcument fact, issue, peple, r questin flders, depending n the bject type selected in the Offline reprt settings. If the image exists, it is included in the reprt. If n image exists, n dcument is included in the reprt.
