1 Technical Support E-Mail: support@heliosglobaltech.com 2 Installation 2.1 Installation of Helios PTT Software By USB: Download the app at: http://admin.heliosglobaltech.com/downloads/helios_android.apk Connect your phone to the PC by USB cable. Copy the Helios PTT app on your phone. Disconnect your device. Tap the saved file to start the installation. By Download-SMS Send a Download-SMS to your device by using the Helios PTT administration portal. Open this SMS. Tap on the link to start the download. Wait till the download is finished and scroll down the notifications of your phone. fig. 1 fig. 2
Tap on the download to start the installation (you have to allow to install apps from unknown sources. To do so choose Settings Applications Unknown sources ; the menu structure may vary). Tap install to start the download. When the installation is finished press open and the sign-in screen is shown: fig: 3 fig.: 4 Default method for signing in is by IMSI (identification number of your SIM card). Assumed you added the IMSI in the customer administration portal enter your password and press connect : To change the sign-in method to login by username choose Menu IMSI Login. The login screen will change and provide additional fields Username and Customer :
fig: 5.fig.: 6 You have to enter username, password and customer-number. The usernames and password are displayed in the Helios PTT administration portal. Once you have entered the login credentials tap Connect. This is the start screen of the Helios PTT app. In this example you joined the group Tap-Support (marked in red). All the other users you see also joined this group. The user sending the last group call is displayed in list (in this example BB Z10 ). User BB Z10 has changed his status to On The Road, that s why he is displayed in yellow color. The other users are online. fig: 7
2.2 Desktop Icon We recommend adding a shortcut to Helios PTT to your desktop. In doubt please revert to the user manual of your device on how to do this. 3 Helios PTT User Manual 3.1 Group Call The Helios PTT administration portal allows you to predefine as many PTT groups as you need. After a restart of PTT on your device you auto-join the group you were active the last time (in the example you joined group Helios ). To talk to the group tap and hold the Push-To-Talk soft key. It will change to speaking. fig. 8 fig. 9
3.2 Change Groups To switch the group select the tab Groups. Tap on the group you wish to join and select join group. fig. 10 pic 11 Note: You can just listen to one group. By joining another group you are leaving the group you joined before.
3.3 1:1 Call 3.3.1 1:1 call using the list of group members To do a one-to-one call just tap on the group member you want to talk to and select Call [user]. In the example below you would call user Chad Z30. The screen will change and display you a PTT soft key. As soon as you are connected to the user you can press and hold the PTT-key for talking. fig. 12 fig. 13 Fig. 14 When you have finished the 1:1 call press End (fig 14). You are available again for group calls.
3.3.2 1:1 calls using the User -list You also have the option to start 1:1 calls by the User -list. Choose tab Users (fig. 15); for how you manage the user list please see chapter 3.4). Tap on the user you want to talk to and select Call [user] (fig. 16). From now on it s similar to chapter 3.3.1: fig. 15 fig. 16
3.4 Manage the User-List 3.4.1 Add Users Select tab. Users. Enter the name or a part of the name you want to add. fig. 17 fig. 18 Tap now on the user you want to add. Tap on the star. It turns green and the user will be saved to the user list:
3.4.2 Delete Users fig. 19 fig. 20 f Tap on the user you want to delete (fig. 19). Tap on the star. If it turns white the user will be deleted from the user list (similar to chapter 3.4.1). 3.5 Chat (for written messages) 3.5.1 Chat with one person Select the person you want to send a chat message from the list of the group members or from your user list. Tap on the user and choose Chat : fig 21 fig 22
Write your message and press Send : Fig. 23 If you receive a chat message you will get an audio signal. The tab. Chat will also show that you received a message: fig. 24
3.5.2 Group Chat To write text messages to a group choose tab. Chat. Select Group chat to write to the members of the group you are active at the moment 3.6 Change your Status... fig. 25 fig. 26 By using the Helios PTT PC software you can create the status that you need, e.g. busy, meeting mode. Whatever you want. You can also assign different colors. These statuses are provided on your phone. To switch the status choose Menu Status. Your status will switch immediately. Fig. 27 Fig. 28
3.7 Settings To enter the settings choose Menu Settings : fig. 29 fig. 30 In the settings you can activate GPS, search for BT-devices, choose between different sound settings, activate auto-start you have various possibilities. Let s have a closer look on a few of them. 3.7.1 Sound settings fig. 31 Note that you are able to choose different volumes for PTT audio and signal sounds. You can adjust it in PTT Volume and Signal Volume.
Voice Boost is for amplifying the sound. Your device will become louder but the sound quality is lower. Please note that you can decrease PTT Volume a bit to avoid overdriving. 3.7.2 Hotkeys Choose Menu Settings - PTT Hotkey Settings to assign hotkeys. You can choose hotkeys for Group call ( PTT Button ), Dispatcher Session and SOS. Choose the type of hotkey you want to assign (in this example PTT Button ). Press the key you want to assign (e.g. camera key, volume down key, you can try every key you find on your phone. If it s possible to use this key you have to press it a second time to confirm your choice. If it s not possible to use this key due to restrictions of the operating system you will be informed. fig. 32 fig. 33
fig. 34 fig. 35 3.7.3 Bluetooth Accessories It is possible to use several accessories like car kits, headsets and PTT buttons with the Helios PTT app. Car kits (general): We cannot ensure that every car kit will work with Helios PTT PTT. Just give it a try. You have to switch on Helios PTT. After that you have to pair the car kit in the phone settings ( Bluetooth settings ; in doubt read the manual of your phone). After that choose Helios PTT Menu Settings and enable Use Headset ). Helios PTT should now use the audio system of your car kit. Car kits Car kits may be available which support a PTT operation. Pair the devices in the Bluetooth settings on your phone. Switch to Helios PTT. Choose Menu Settings Bluetooth PTT. You will see the car kit in the list paired devices (if not you didn t pair it successfully in your phone settings). Tap on the car kit. Now Helios PTT will connect to the car kit and you will be able to use the PTT button on your car kit. Choose Menu Settings and enable Auto connect Bluetooth and Use Headset Others: Other interesting accessories are the Savox BTR-155 (wireless Blue Tooth receiver and microphone).
