Bookmark Tool The Bookmark Tool stores a collection of map view extents and displays them in the tool window. The bookmarks can be predefined and programmed in or added by using the + icon to create a custom bookmark. Tip: Custom bookmarks are stored in the user s cache and clearing the cache will remove them. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 4
Basemap Gallery Tool This tool presents a gallery of basemaps and allows users to select one to use as the application's basemap. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 5
Coordinate Display Tool The Coordinate Display Tool displays x and y coordinate values on the map. With the default coordinate system of the web map, the coordinate values change dynamically when the mouse pointer moves to different locations on the map. Other coordinate systems can be added based on project needs to a map and the tool will display the X, Y location based on the last place the mouse clicked. Tip: Changing from the default coordinate system will turn off Identify tool pop ups. Change back to the default to enable the popup again. Tip: Coordinates displayed by this tool can be selected and copied. Note: For mobile devices the tool only displays the coordinates of map center. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 6
Edit Tool The Edit Tool allows users to edit both geometry and attributes of layers. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 7
Find Coordinates Tool The Find Coordinates Tool will zoom to a location based on coordinates entered into the tool window. It accepts multiple units and will retain the location in the results tab of the tool window until the map is refreshed. Note: Only one result is stored at a time so be sure to bookmark it if it s needed later. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 8
Street View Tool The street view tool allows users to utilize Google Street View directly from the web map. Tip: Google street view opens in a pop up which may be blocked automatically by the user s browser. Ensure they are not blocked for this tool to work. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 9
Home Button The Home Button Tool will return the map to its initial extent. Layer List Tool The Layer List Tool provides a list of layers and their symbols, and allows users to turn layers on and off. Each layer in the list has a check box that easily controls its visibility. Layers having expansion arrows indicate that they contain sublayers or subtypes. Legend Tool The legend tool displays all the visible layers in the web map with their accompanying symbol. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 11
Markup Tool The Markup Tool allows users to create graphics that display on the map. The markups can be shared through printing the map using the print tool or exported to send to another Vertisee user who can then import the markup into their map. Tip: Select Show Measurements before selecting a drawing mode if you d like measurements displayed. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 12
Measure Tool The Measurement widget allows the user to measure the area of a polygon, length of a line, or find the coordinates of a point. Once the type of measurement is selected there are many different units to choose from. My Location Tool The My Location tool allows the network to detect the user s physical location and zoom the map to it and the location is highlighted with a blue dot. The accuracy of the location depends on the device and the browser. Tip: You might get an error message after clicking Find my location button. It is often caused by the browser's security. Check the browser's setting for pop-ups asking if you want to share your location. Click Yes, to find your location. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 13
Print Tool The Print tool allows users to create printable maps from the web map in various file formats to include in things like reports. Tip: Be sure to save prints when they re done as they aren t saved automatically. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 14
Profile Tool The profile tool creates a profile graph and summary statistics based on a line drawn on the map. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 15
Query Tool The query tool will search a layer based on a value and create a list of results making it easy to locate a feature. Note: The query tool is not case sensitive and can search based on partial values. For example: A user could search for 8 in the query value and return all roads which have an ID containing the value 8. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 16
Scale Bar The Scale bar Tool displays a scale bar on the map and can be customized to display different units. Time Slider Tool The time slider tool allows the user to display data that has a temporal component such as historical data. Start and end times displayed at the top of the tool show what date range of data is shown on the map. The controls are similar to a movie and can be viewed through using the play, step forward and step back buttons or by adjusting the sliders manually. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. 2016 Page 17
