About the Position Under the general direction of the IT Manager, the position is a technical specialist who defines problems, proposes preliminary solutions, prepares cost estimates, develops, customizes, implements, and maintains software, hardware and network specifications, configurations, and systems; coordinates the implementation of new or modified information systems; troubleshoots user and system problems; and performs related work as required. About the Court It is the mission of the Superior Court of Santa Cruz County to preserve and protect the rights and ideals of society through the interpretation and enforcement of the law and provide equal access to justice through quality service to the community. It is also the mission of the court to treat all persons in the judicial system with dignity and respect. The Superior Court of Santa Cruz County has established a reputation as a leader in innovative court programs and as an organization committed to providing high-quality service to the public. The court consists of 12 judges, two commissioners, and approximately 130 employees, with an annual budget of more than 15 million dollars. There are three court locations in Santa Cruz County: the main courthouse near downtown Santa Cruz, Watsonville courthouse in downtown Watsonville, and the juvenile courthouse in the town of Felton. About Santa Cruz Santa Cruz County has 274,673 residents (2016) and is situated at the northern tip of Monterey Bay, 72 miles south of San Francisco, 43 miles north of Monterey, and 32 miles southwest of the Silicon Valley. Its natural beauty is present in the pristine beaches, lush redwood forests, and rich farmland. It has an ideal Mediterranean climate with low humidity and sunshine 300 days a year. There are four incorporated cities within Santa Cruz County. The City of Santa Cruz, with a population of 64,465 (2016), is the largest city in the county. Santa Cruz County is the gateway to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, has 29 miles of beaches and includes six state parks and six state beaches. Its quaint shops and restaurants, coupled with a multitude of cultural and recreational activities (surfing; sailing; fishing; golfing; tennis; hiking; etc.) provide a wealth of leisure activities. 2 Superior Court of Santa Cruz County Job Recruitment: Procurement Specialist

Representative Duties Positions in this class may perform any or all the below listed duties. These should be interpreted as examples of the work and are not necessarily all-inclusive. 1. Analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves network performance, integrity, security, availability, and other network issues and problems; coordinates the resolution of vendor problems. 2. Analyzes, reviews, recommends, and optimizes technologies to enhance network performance; evaluates and recommends network software, hardware, and interconnectivity products. 3. Performs day-to-day LAN and server administration; creates or maintains network users, groups, rights, login scripts; network printer configurations; creates, modifies, and deletes user accounts, groups, resources, membership rights and security access for e-mail. 4. May plan, design, install, optimize, upgrade, and maintain systems and software; configures vendor software to meet Court requirements; monitors performance of hardware and operating system software and make recommendations to correct problems or improve performance; establish and monitor procedures for data security and access to computer systems; designs and maintains backup and recovery procedures. 5. Evaluate software and hardware, writes recommendation for management review; prepares documentation, procedures, reports, specifications, program descriptions, operating instructions, training materials, and user manuals. 6. Plans, designs, configures, upgrades, administers, and maintains the Court-wide enterprise system, including LANS and WANS, Internet, e-mail and all aspects of hardware, software, operating systems, and inter-connectivity. 7. Develops network systems architecture involving integration of multiple platforms, vendors' products and technologies. 8. Identifies, designs, recommends, and implements standards, conventions, and policies for network systems. 9. Stay current with leading-edge technologies that could benefit the Court. 10. Consults with current and proposed systems users on the design and feasibility of proposed systems and modifications; analyzes client needs; identifies alternatives; estimates cost and timing of systems modifications, purchase, and installation; designs and participates in the development, modification, enhancement, testing, and implementation of computer systems; develops, coordinates, and provides documentation, end user and staff training and orientation. 11. Attends and participates in a variety of meetings, seminars, and committees; maintains liaison with vendor representatives. 12. Coordinates projects or components of projects; acts as liaison between various entities and project stakeholders. 13. Provide general user support and escalation. 14. Evaluates and recommends hardware and software products, prepares budget estimates; assists departments with coordination of planning, budgeting, acquisition and implementation of systems. The Requirements Bachelor s in Computer Science and/or field related certifications desired. Typical Qualifications Any combination of education, training and or/experience which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Thorough knowledge of: Network security, routing and switching Current Windows Server Platforms Microsoft Exchange and O365 Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft SQL Server HyperV virtualization SAN Solutions Commvault Backup and Recovery ShoreTel VoIP phone system Desktop and server system deployment tools Principles, practices, and techniques, of technical problem resolution Skill and Ability to Subject matter expert on datacenter and computer systems (servers, desktops, routers, switches), security, Court's critical systems Respond to and resolve problems impacting a variety of court wide infrastructure using discretion and judgement (PCs, servers, printers, SAN, NAS, etc.) Perform project management including scheduling, developing critical paths, tracking, contingency planning, resource allocation, and team leadership Communicate effectively with all levels of management Be flexible and adaptable to continually changing demands or situations Prepare clear, concise, and accurate documentation Establish and maintain effective working relationships Be a strong team player with excellent customer service skills Working Conditions The work environment is professional, generally clean inside buildings with limited exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and noise. Incumbents will be working under sometimes difficult and stressful conditions, with frequent deadlines and expectation to produce highquality work under limited time constraints. The ability to work independently as well as closely with others is required. Compensation and Benefits The position of Systems Administrator is classified as unrepresented salaried employment and is compensated according to the following annual pay range: $75,150.40-$95,097.60/Annually The Court offers a generous benefits package, which includes life insurance, a choice of health plans, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), paid holidays, and paid time off.
