Modules fall into two broad categories: General Content Management and Add-On modules: These include modules that display site outlines, paths to pages, time and date, drop-down menus, linking tools, etc. These modules are written by Systems Alliance, Inc. Custom modules: These modules assist in automating tasks that typically require the use of and/or understanding of significant amount of code and server configurations and are specific to each client s needs. Furthermore, if there are query parameters appended to a duplicate URL, a new cache file will exist for the query parameters. 9. Click Save. The HTTP Passthrough module will appear on the page. When the page is saved and closed, the information from the external site will appear embedded on the page.

Using the Navigation module, administrators can easily manage different robust navigational menus at site or folder levels. 8.1 Inserting the Navigation Module The Navigation module can only be inserted on a template. There are three menu types to choose the presentation of the module. There is also a Start and End level field which allows for restriction of which levels of navigation to display. Within each menu type there are two important indicators which makes this navigational list builder context-sensitive. To insert Navigation module on template: 1. Select a template designated for the Navigation module. 2. Select the Preview/Edit tab. 3. Click Edit Template. 4. Click in the template where the module will be inserted. 5. Click the Insert Module tool. 6. Select Navigation in the Module drop-down list.

7. Click OK. The Navigation Properties dialog box will appear. 8. Select the Menu Type. The options are defined as follows: Div mode: The module will wrap each individual level of the navigation list in its own independent <div> tag. This menu type will not display the navigation list in a hierarchical view, however will apply an indicator to each active node and active path. List mode: The module will output a nested unordered list(<ul>) within a <div> tag to display the appropriate navigation list. This menu type will display a hierarchical view of the navigation list, as well as apply the active node and active path indicators. DivList mode: This menu type is a hyrbid of the first two described. The module will output the first level of the navigation list in a <div> tag. The remaining sub-levels will be wrapped in nested unordered lists(<ul>). All levels will then be wrapped in a <div> tag as well. It will also display a hierarchical view within the unordered lists, and apply the active node and active path indicators to the entire mode. 9. Optionally configure the Relative Constraints.

File: SiteExecutive 2013 Core Modules User Guide.docx Page 33 Printed September 30, 2013 Start Level: This field allows a user to specify an integer value to identify which level of navigation to begin displaying in the instance of the module. Note: If left blank, it will assume the start is the top level. End Level: This field allows a user to specify an integer value to identify which level of navigation to stop displaying in the instance of the module. Note: If value is the same as start, it will only output that exact level. If left blank, it will assume no end constraint and display as many levels as defined in Navigation module. 10. Optionally configure the fields within the Specify alternate HTML tag class attributes fieldset. The fields are defined as follows: <div> wrappers: Applies the style class to each <div> tag within the Navigational list. The first div will append a number 1 to the end of the defined style class. All remaining nested <div> tags will append numbers in succession to the end of the defined style class. <li> for the active path-applies the style class to each Navigational item that is within the path to the object that is being viewed <li> for the active node-applies the style class to the Navigational item that is currently being viewed. 11. Press Save. Note: This template must be republished for the module to become active on the template. 8.2 Hierarchical Rules The Navigation module will interpret all link assignments and display them in a hierarchical view. Users can define link assignments at the site and folder level. The type of objects that can be defined as link assignments are SiteExecutive folders, pages, all binary files, and applications. The SiteExecutive folder structure inherently provides a hierarchy and the module will use this parent-child relationship. However, at each folder level, sub-folders must be defined as link assignments for this to take effect. Also, each folder must contain a default SiteExecutive page (an index.html page) for navigation to function correctly. The Navigation module will build the hierarchy from the bottom up and will stop if: The site has been reached

The parent folder does not have any link assignments defined A folder has the Top Level property enabled 8.3 Navigation Management Link assignments can be defined at both the folder and site level. There are three ways in which link assignments can be created: Dynamic Navigation Assignments Automatically Populate Link List Assignments Manual Link Assignment 8.3.1 Dynamic Navigation A user can select Enable Dynamic Navigation at the site or folder level. When this option is enabled, existing and newly published pages will automatically display in the navigation list for the site or folder. For example, if a user moves an active page into a folder that has dynamic navigation assigned, the page will automatically show up in the navigation for that folder. The page does not need to be republished first. Note: There is no visual cue for the link assignments generated and displayed by the Enable Dynamic Navigation option. To Enable Dynamic Navigation: 1. Select a site or folder. 2. Select the Navigation tab. The Navigation tab is loaded. 3. Select the Enable Dynamic Navigation checkbox. 4. Select a Placement option. Append to Navigation List: Appends all active pages to the navigation list of manually defined link assignments.

File: SiteExecutive 2013 Core Modules User Guide.docx Page 35 Printed September 30, 2013 Prepend to Navigation List: Prepends all active pages to the navigation list of manually defined link assignments. 5. 8.3.3 Link Assignment A user can manually assign internal and external links to appear on a navigation list. Link assignments can be: internal links that appear as direct children within the folder, internal links of objects that do not appear in the folder, and external links. All objects defined in the navigation will display in the navigation list when viewing an object defined in the navigation, regardless of where the object is located in the site tree. For example, if a page is defined in the navigation of a folder other than its parent folder, it will show in the navigation list on all pages defined in the navigation of that folder. To assign a New Link Assignment: 1. Select a site or folder 2. Select the Navigation tab. The Navigation tab is loaded. 3. In the New Link Assignment fieldset, use the link widgets to select an internal or external link. 4. Select a link and press OK. The Link Text field and Open In New Window are optional fields. Link Text: This field will replace the Page/Folder title or Binary File name when appearing in a Navigation List. Open In New Window: This field will open a link assignment in a new window when it is clicked. 5. Press Add. The new link assignment will be added to the Navigation list table.

Additional inclusions of that page will be ignored. When the Object Inclusion module is inserted on a template, it can be used to display dynamic content at the folder level. This function is explained in detail in the Template & Style Sheet User Guide. 9.1 Inserting the Object Inclusion Module To insert the Object Inclusion module on a page: 1. To create advanced dynamic navigation, three modules are recommended: What s New, What s Here, and See Also. These modules enable a structured navigation system and allow information control. What s New and What s Here produce text link boxes on a page. See Also creates a drop-down box with links. These modules will only display if there are active links for the respective module. The modules will not display if there are no valid links. Any links created in the modules are dynamic. If the page to which a link refers is renamed, archived, moved, or deleted, the link will reflect the change. Note: What s New, What s Here and See Also modules are all established on a page in the same manner. The sections below are all explained using the What s New module as an example. Slight differences in the modules are explained in the respective sections below.

15.1 Establish on a Template The What s New, What s Here, and See Also modules are formatted and activated at the template level. These modules cannot be inserted on pages.
