Landmark Upgrade Kit Installation Instructions REMOVING THE LANDMARK BOARD 1 REMOVE POWER FROM UNIT. 2 Disconnect ALL board connections by removing the associated blue blocks (see Figure 1). Include the keypad and speaker/mic connections: (J4) Speaker/Mic for s: Speaker (TB3) and Microphone (TB2) Speaker/Mic for Hands-Free: J2 (1412118 upper board) or P1 (1100119 upper board) 3 Remove Landmark circuit board. GROUNDING AND MOUNTING THE UPGRADE BOARD 1 Gather the green ground wire with spades on both ends, a #6-32 1/2 screw, and an inner-tooth lock washer (all provided). 2 Locate the EARTH GND point on the upgrade assembly board in the upper left corner (see Figure 2). Attach one end of the green ground wire to this point using the screw and lock washer. 3 Mount upgrade board assembly in the housing using the existing plastic board mounts. 4 Connect the ground wires to the housing and to the external ground connection. a) Connect the green wire with the spade from the upgrade assembly board, and the green ground wire with pigtail (provided) to the landmark housing ground point in the upper right hand corner of the housing. b) Secure the spade with a #6-32 1/2 screw and lock washer, placing a second external tooth lock washer between each wire s spade connector. c) Connect the green wire with the pigtail to the external ground connection using the pigtail end. Connect the 2 wires from the Landmark s keypad lighting (from TB9) together with the 12VAC input blue-block connector (from TB8). See Figure 3. SPEAKER/MICROPHONE CONNECTIONS (HANDS-FREE) Hands-Free Microphone Connections: 1 Using the alcohol swab (provided), wipe clean a 2 to 3 inch diameter area around the mic s sound hole on the inside of the Landmark s front panel. Allow the surface to dry completely. 2 Remove protective paper on the selfadhesive mic mounting ring and center over the mic hole. Press firmly into place. 3 Using a twisting motion, press the mic into the mounting ring. 4 Route the mic wires through the wire hold downs on the front face plate and connect to the upgrade board s mic input (J1) located at the top center of the upgrade board (see Figure 4). Orient the connector so that the red wire is aligned with the board terminal labeled red and the black wire is aligned with the terminal labeled black. J1 Mic Wires Make sure black wire is aligned with black terminal (J1) Make sure red wire is aligned with red terminal (J1) Upgrade Board 1547F10 Figure 4: Mic Connection Hands-Free Speaker Connections: 1 Cut and discard the speaker connector close to the connector leaving a suitably long pair of wires to the speaker (see Figure 5). Strip the wires approximately 3/8ths inch. 2 Locate the black and white speaker wire tails from the upgrade board. 3 Splice and crimp the wires from the speaker and the board using the splice connectors (provided) connecting black to black and white to white. SPEAKER/MICROPHONE CONNECTIONS (HANDSET) Microphone Connections: 1 Disconnect the 4 handset wires from the Landmark board and blue-blocks. 2 Locate the mic replacement assembly (SN1600012) and the handset adapter board (SN1114017) in the upgrade kit. Cut the black connector from the mic assembly leaving at least 10 inches in length from the cut end to the connector. Strip the wire tails about 1/4 inch. 3 Connect the red and black handset wires and the upgrade board red and black mic wires to the handset adapter board per the table below and Figure 6: Wire Connection Adapter Blue-Block Terminal From handset, 1 From handset, BLACK 3 mic connector, mic connector, BLACK 4 Connect the mic wire connector to the board s mic input (J1) located at the top center of the upgrade board. Orient the connector so that the red wire is aligned with the board terminal labeled red and the black wire is aligned with the terminal labeled black (refer to Figure 4 on page 3). 2 3 Speaker Connections: 1 Locate the black and white speaker wire tails from the upgrade board. 2 Connect the white and black handset wires and the upgrade board speaker wires to the hand set adapter board per the table below and Figure 6: Wire Connection From hand set, WHITE (1st wire) From hand set, WHITE (2nd wire) WHITE BLACK Adapter Blue-Block Terminal 3 With all connections completed, locate a suitable mounting point for the handset adapter board inside the housing. COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION 1 Locate the SN1100017 keypad adapter mounted on the lower right hand corner of the assembly (see Figure 7). Orient the connector into the keypad adapter board header so that its red wire of the ribbon cable is located closest to pin 1 of the adapter board socket (see Figure 8). Press in and lock the header into the socket. 2 Locate the blue-block for the house wires and the blue-block for the telco side. Connect them on the terminals marked house and telco located on the upper left-hand side of the upgrade board. 3 Connect the blue-block(s) for the control relay(s) onto relay 1 (or relay 1 and 2), located at the bottom center of the upgrade circuit board. 4 Connect the 12V power to the upgrade board by pressing the blue-block into place on the board marked 12V AC/DC PWR IN, located in the lower left hand corner of the upgrade board. The unit should beep 5 times indicating a board reset. If you do not hear the beeps, check... Speaker wire connections For speaker damage by measuring its resistance with an ohmmeter (an undamaged 45 ohm speaker should measure between 30 to 50 ohms). 5 Close the unit front panel and test the unit. Use the supplied Crown Jewel user and installation manuals for specific details in setting up and testing the unit.
