Hey guys, what's up? We have another, jammed packed and exciting bonus coming at you today. This one is all about the "Everyone knows Everybody" generation; where everyone is socially connected via the internet and how you can take advantage of that. You all know that social linking is a very powerful tool in your tool belt and when you get some social link love, Google loves you. So, without rambling on about how awesome the power of social networking is, let's just get into it. Social Bookmarks Social Bookmarks are by far one of our favorite links to obtain. They are powerful, they can be spammed, and they index extremely fast. For all intents and purposes, they are the new forum links (forum links used to kill in SEO) However, these types of links are often misused by most marketers. Most often we will see people: Blasting their site with them during the first month of creation Only sending them directly to their site Leaving a MASSIVE footprint All of this is bad juju and is going to get your site in trouble. This is also not the best way to use these back links. How must people use social bookmarks? More often than not, people will simply send all their back links to their money site and its pages. The logic behind this is: If the links are powerful - The more, the better Well, this is not how Google sees it. Remember it is all about being natural.

In a natural world: Would a person socially bookmark every page on a website? Would they socially bookmark inner pages? Would they do it on 1001 networks in the span of 5 days? Would the same site be bookmarked 8 times on one site? If you answered 'no" for any of the above, then we at least know you got your head on straight (haha). Google will ignore most of these links and will likely frown upon them. Where can I get these social bookmarks? There are several places that you can go to buy social bookmarks, such as likes, tweets and G+'s. We will also talk for a bit about Google circles but that deals more-so with authorship and you don't even have to purchase those! Facebook Likes Now this is a powerful tool, possibly the most, in your social arsenal. They are a huge factor in helping your website look like it is going "viral" and in helping the big G take notice of you a lot faster. You can purchase these from Fiverr and from some of the WF member's. Retweets The power of the Twitter re-tweet also is something not to look over. It is an amazing tool for getting your website out to the masses (and it consists of REAL accounts with REAL people). Consider someone on a twitter account, Tweeting about your website to 350k+ people. It's pretty astonishing to think of actually. Again, you can find these on the WF or Fiverr. Google Circles This is something we really won't go over much, as we have several videos and blog posts on the matter. We also discussed it heavily in our new course, Source Underdog.

However, Google Circle links are a pretty useful tool when trying to obtain Google Authorship. All you need to do is, when you are creating your author account, go out and find people that are interested in similar things as your money site. Then, go out and add them to your circle. 9 times out of 10 they will add you back and this is a great tool in helping Google recognize you as an "expert" in the field. How to properly use social bookmarks Look, here are a few things you need to remember: They index extremely fast! They are most effective the first time they are used on a site (So the first time you get a link from a site, it is the most effective) They are one of the most powerful links and they are not going anywhere. So, what people fail to also realize is that they are the best supporting type link on the web. (Supporting Link: A link sent to your supporting pages AKA your youtube links, your wiki pages, your ezine articles, hub pages) Think about it - They lose their power and look sketchy if you keep blasting them at your main site. However, if you send them to your supporting pages the power is KEPT and then transferred to your main site and because of this, it ensures your links are indexed extremely fast. On top of this, they make your links HIGHLY relevant in Google eyes. This is too good to be true. Because of all this, we will actually get more use from bookmarking if we send our links to sites, LINKING TO our site. It's safe, more effective, and easy. How to structure your social bookmarking links In order to effectively use these links and get the most BANG out of them, we want to keep all of factors above in mind. Lets explain this with a picture:

As you can see, in order to maximize our bookmarking links we only hit our main site once. Then we maximize the links by sending them to our supporting pages. When we do this, we continually keep getting a ton of power from our social bookmarking links. This is power we would lose WHILE risking our site if we kept bookmarking our main site. SB: Social Bookmarking SP: Supporting Page ** Make sure you have any type of social plugin on your main page. Most networks offer their own, too. Creating the perfect link So, we are not going to be creating ONLY perfect links. However, by understanding what makes the perfect link, you will be eons better when it comes to building links in general. Factor One: The Authority Of The Site The first and most important factor is the authority of the site. If you get a link from Forbes or The New York Times you can expect some serious link juice to go to your site. Why?

Google is well aware these sites only link to quality. If the New York times references your site, you are pretty much in the gold. Factor Two: The PR Of A Site PR is the page rank Google assigns pages on the internet. Overall, this reflects how powerful and trustworthy the page is in Google's eyes. Page rank is mainly controlled by the sites linking to the page, but also is controlled by many other mysterious factors that only the Google "scientists" know. There are constantly debates on whether the PR of a site effects how it ranks, and there truly is no tangible proof that it does. HOWEVER, we have a tidal wave of proof that the PR of a PAGE (not site) effects the power of its links. You need to remember: the PR of a DOMAINS HOMEPAGE means NOTHING when it comes to link juice. The only thing that matters is the PR of the page. This is why when you see people saying they got a PR7 link from a article site, you need to promptly call them a moron. The PR of the PAGE is not the same as the DOMAIN, so keep in mind that a new article on a PR7 article site, still just means a PR 0 PAGE. Understanding that, know that the higher the PR of the page, the more powerful the link it produces. This is why links on the homepage of sites (the page that usually has PR) is so crucial. Factor Three: The Relevance Of The Site The Link Is Coming From What this means is that links from relevant websites are a lot more powerful then websites with random information. For example, if you are starting a website about video games and you are gathering links from cooking websites, this doesn't look that relevant huh?

Imagine, though, if you were gathering links back from websites such as GameStop or IGN? This is why in theory we want to target sites in our niche. Remember, though, that sometimes this isn't always possible depending on the niche you are in. Factor Four : The Type Of Site The Link Is Coming From Google is well aware that there are sites link E-Zine articles and social bookmarking sites that give out links very easily. These sites, therefore, are not watched as readily. Google pays even less attention to the websites that clearly are sending spammy links, such as forums. On the flip side, Google knows that some sites like blogs, press, and other authority sites are much more difficult to get a link on. Logically, these links carry MUCH more weight. Factor 5: Where The Link Is Placed On The Page It is fairly easy for sites to slip links in their sidebars, footer, and header areas. These can carry weight, but they do not carry as much as other positions on a site, especially the best place for a link to be is contextually. Contextual Link is a link placed in the content of the page: Like This. This is a contextual link to one of our favorite blogs. On top of that, if you can get a link in the first sentence or paragraph of the content it will have even more power. (This is usually outside of your control though) Factor 6: The Amount Of Outgoing Links

What this means is that the more links that are on a page, the less juice each link will have. While this is true, it is only true to an extent. We have ranked plenty of websites with links from pages with a ton of OBLs (Out bound links). Just keep in mind the less links the better. To Sum it all up So, with all that being said hopefully you can understand the factors that go into a perfect link. For example, if you had a video game website, your perfect link would look like this: A PR5+ gaming website Links in the context of the page Website has very few OBL's Keep all of this in mind and you will be able to build and perfect you link building abilities.
