Navigation options you will find on every page The following navigation options will help you navigate through this manual effortlessly and fast: Click on the maroon arrows in the side margin of each page to go back or forth by one page. The Table of Contents Chapter 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Glossary Back displayed in the bottom margin of each page allow you to navigate to the different chapters, including the Table of Contents and Glossary. The Back option is used to jump back to the page on which you had previously clicked a link. This means, when you click a link to a certain page or figure and you then decide you want to go back to the page you last viewed, you can click on the Back option at the bottom of the page. Installation 1 GUIDE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION 5.1.16 GUIDE software is part of Tolteq's GUIDE MWD Surface System, a field proven, complete wellsite solution. This software release is an update to existing version 4.8.0, and includes numerous enhancements and issue fixes. Note It is highly recommended to install the MWD Desktop and MWD Decoder individually via Ethernet connection. Installation Follow the steps below to update your MWD Desktop software, installed on laptop, and MWD Decoder software, installed on the RFD. It is highly recommended that you install the update for both the MWD Desktop and Decoder software individually. MWD Desktop Software Update 1. Ensure that your SSI cable is not connected. 2. Double click on the MWD Desktop icon, to open the MWD Desktop software. 3. Click on the Options menu, and select Update. 4. When you see the Options window: Copyright 2008 2012 1 1
MWD Desktop Software Update Figure 1: Options window 5. Uncheck the Update MWD Decoder before MWD Desktop (circled in Red). 6. Click OK. 7. Close the MWD Desktop program by clicking on the File menu, and select Exit All. 8. Connect your desktop or laptop computer to internet, and make sure that you have Internet access. 9. Ensure your SSI cable is not plugged in to the laptop. 10. Double click on the MWD Desktop icon, to open the MWD Desktop software. 11. Wait for about 60 seconds, and you should see the Software Update Available window pop up: Copyright 2008 2012 1 2

Verify that your login info is correct and click the OK button. 15. Then you will see a few windows that will pop up and close by themselves. 16. MWD Decoder should start up automatically, if not double click on the MWD Decoder icon, to open the MWD Decoder software. 3.
