Otherwise we may not be able to publish them, especially in print. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Wuala This method requires you to download and install a light software on your computer and register to a free Wuala account. 1) Visit www.wuala.com 2) Click the Download button on the homepage and run the Wuala Setup application. 3) Follow the installation Wizard, the run Wuala. 4) You will then be asked to create a free account. Click the link to create a new account. Choose yourself a username and password and indicate your email address. Make sure you will remember your password as it won't be stored anywhere and you won't be able to retrieve it. 5) Once the software is running you can start to add files to your Wuala folders in the left hand side menu. You can create new folders if you'd like (File > New > Folder). 6) To add files to a Wuala folder, simply "drag and drop" the files/folder from your computer directly to the Wuala folder. You may be asked to resize the photos. Please ignore this request and/or make sure to select a high quality transfer.
7) Once you added the files/folder to Wuala, the application will start to upload them to the Internet. This may take a little while depending on the quality of your Interent connection. A status bar will show you the progress of the transfer (see below). 8) When the transfer is completed you can share the files/folder by giving people the download link. In order to do that you need to set the Sharing properties: right click on the folder the go to Share this folder > Sharing & Access. 9) In the Sharing and Access window select the option Shared and tick the Web Access box. A secured URL link will appear. This is the link you need to copy and send by email to anicewong@gmail.com and anyone you would to share it with. Don't forget to click OK. Please note that the secured link includes a secret key that makes it impossible for anyone to guess it. Only people with the link can actually access the folder and files.
10) You files/folder can be viewed and downloaded online. 11) Don't forget to send the secured link to anicewong@gmail.com THANK YOU!
Dropbox Dropbox works similarly to Wuala: you need to install a client application and create an account. Dropbox is a folder in itself; it is synchronized with an online storage space which means that every file you put in your Dropbox will be uploaded automatically to the Internet. You can also share your Dropbox files with anyone else that has Dropbox. But you've got to be cautious: if you delete or remove a file in your Dropbox, it will be deleted from your storage space as well as from all the other Dropboxes you shared it with! Shared files should always be copied and saved elsewhere in your computer. 1) Visit www.dropbox.com and download the application. 2) Run the Setup application: You will be asked to create an account (make sure to select the 2 Gb account that is free). Enter your email address and choose a password. 3) During the installation process, you will also be asked to place the Dropbox icon on your desktop. Make sure it is the case. It's easier for you to find the folder afterwards. 4) Once it is installed, click on the "Dropbox" icon on your desktop. It will open a window. You'll see there are already two sub folders ("Photos" and "Public"). 5) Create a new sub folder and paste all the photos and files you would like to share. 6) A small blue icon (circled arrows) will appear on the copied sub folder / files: This means the folder/files are being uploaded to the Internet. 7) The blue icon will become green once the transfer is done. Your sub folder/files is then ready to be shared.
8) To share the folder/files with Crossroaders, click right on the folder and select Dropbox > Share this folder. In French in the example below. 9) You will be redirected to a web page. On the webpage you can write the email address of the person you would like to share the folder with. In this case: anicewong@gmail.com Click the Share button to send the invitation email. 10) Once your contact gets the email, he/she will be able to automatically download the shared folder to his/her own Dropbox or download from the Internet as shown below. IMPORTANT: if you delete or remove files and folders in your Dropbox they will automatically be removed from your online storage space. Your contacts will also lose the files you shared with them. It is therefore important you make sure they saved them somewhere else before deleting. THANK YOU!
Picasa For those who have a Google account (or most commonly a Gmail account), you get a free online storage space for your photos. Picasa is the name of a Google photo application that you can install on your computer to manage your photos. Using your account, you can upload your photos to an online photo gallery (Picasa Web Albums) that you can later share with friends or contacts. Instead of installing the Picasa client application, we recommend that you upload your photos directly to your Picasa Web Albums. It's easier and more user friendly! 1) Log into your Google account by visiting any Google page and click the Connection button in the upper right hand side corner 2) Once your are logged in, look for the Photos link in the Google toolbar.
3) On your Picasa Web Albums homepage you'll see all of your most recent uploaded albums. Click the Upload button to create a new album. 4) Give a title to your new album and make sure to set the visibility to "Limited, anyone with the link". 5) Click the button for Photos selection, select at once all the photos you want to upload, then click Open. Picasa allows a maximum of 1000 photos per album. The upload may take a little while depending in the size of your files. Picasa should upload the photos in the original maximum quality.
6) Once the transfer is done, you'll be redirected to your newly uploaded album. You can now share the direct link to your online album. Only people with the link will have access to the album. To copy the link simply look for it on the right hand side panel of your album. 7) IMPORTANT: For people to download your album you must give them permission to do so, otherwise they will only be able to see them. Go to your Photos Settings by clicking the gear wheel icon in the upper right hand side corner.
Under the Privacy and Permissions tab, make sure to tick the Download my photos box. Click Save changes to exit. 8) Please don't forget to send the direct link to your web album to anicewong@gmail.com THANK YOU!
Megaupload Megaupload is an online storage service that enables you to upload large files on the Internet and share the download link with your contacts. Please note that uploaded files will be deleted after 21 days. The main limitation is that you can only upload one file at a time, with a maximum capacity of 1 Gb each. To upload a folder at once, you will need to compress it in ZIP or RAR formats. How to compress a folder? 1) You need a file compression software. We recommend WinRar which you can download for free at www.rarlab.com/download.htm 2) Once the software is installed, simply click right on the folder you want to compress and select Add to archive. 3) Select the Archive format: RAR or ZIP (it doesn't make much difference). Then click OK. The compressed folder will be stored on the same location as your original folder
4) This new compressed folder works as a single file. You can now upload it with Megaupload 5) Visit www.rapidshare.com 6) Click the Upload button Browse your files and select the folder you just compressed. Give it a description. Then click Send. 7) The upload process may take a while depending on the size of your compressed folder. IMPORTANT: Do not refresh the page! 8) Once it is completed, you will see a megaupload download link below. Send that link to anicewong@gmail.com THANK YOU!
