Introduction Chapter 1
Purpose In this manual, you will learn how to use the POS Designer Utility to redesign the layout, buttons, and look of your POS screen. You can use the utility to move, delete, or change captions or add back existing buttons. You can also change the line item grid at the POS, including visible columns and the height and font size of grid lines. 8 POS Designer Utility
Using the POS Designer Utility Chapter 2
To launch the POS Designer Utility, use Windows Explorer or My Computer to browse to C:\Celerant\RMS6\ and double-click on POSdesigner.cmd. The utility will open and you will see five (5) tabs. POS Preferences Tab When you open the POS Designer Utility, the POS Preferences tab displays first. and 20 in Key Four. You can designate up to six (6) preset cash keys. 6 Click on the Save button to save your entries. Grid Columns Tab The Grid Columns tab lists the columns that display on the POS screen. You can select only ones that apply to your business, and you can change the order they display and their appearance. 1 Under Item Grid, you can specify the style and size of the font used for line items on the POS screen. Click in the Font Style combo box and select the font you want to use from the drop-down list. 2 Click in the Font Size combo box and select the size of the font from the drop-down list. 3 Under Item Menu, click on the up and down arrows to set the order of the fields that display on selected item menu buttons in POS. 4 By default, all of the Item Menu fields will display on the item menu buttons in POS. To hide a field, click to select it in the list, then click in the Visible option box to remove the check mark. "N" will display in the Visible column next to the field, indicating that it will not be shown on the item menu button. 5 If the Use Preset Cash Keys option is selected in Settings> Options> Machine Options on the POS tab, you can define amounts to assign to the keys and the currency symbol to use by entering data in the Preset Cash Keys fields. For example, if you want keys for $1, $5, $10, and $20 to be available on the POS screen, enter $ in the Symbol edit box, then enter 1 in Key One, 5 in Key Two, 10 in Key Three, 1 Under Grid Options, you can control the order of the columns in the POS grid from left to right on the POS screen by highlighting a column to select it, then clicking on the up and down arrow buttons. The column will move up or down the list. 2 The Column Name is the current system-defined name of the field, but you can change the Header to state what you want to display on the POS screen. Click in the grid to highlight the field name you wish to change, then enter the new name in the Header edit box. 3 Click in the Visible option box to make the column visible in the POS grid, or leave the box unchecked to hide the column. 4 Click on the down arrow button in the Width drop-down list to set the column width. The default is 100. 5 Click to specify the column Alignment you prefer: left, center, or right justification. 6 Click on the Apply Changes to Column button for each column you change in order for the changes to 10 POS Designer Utility
take effect. 7 Click on the Save button to save your entries. POS Buttons Tab The POS Buttons tab lets you change the captions on buttons on the POS screen. You can also change a button's location and icon, as well as remove buttons that are not being used. NOTE: Celerant created the default images displayed for each button, but does not create the images for any new buttons you may want to change or add. 3 Use the up and down arrow buttons to move the selected button up or down within the list, changing the order in which it displays at POS. You can also drag and drop the button within its folder. 4 Caption Line 1 and Caption Line 2 display the current caption for the selected button. You can rename the caption if you wish. 5 Click on the Select File button next to Icon and browse to the location of the image file for the normal state of the button. 6 Click on the Select File button next to Button Background Image and browse to the location of the image to be displayed as the button background. 7 Click on the Select File button next to Button Background Image Hover 'state' and browse to the location of the image to be displayed when the mouse is hovering over the button. 8 Click on the Select File button next to Button Background Image Pressed 'state' and browse to the location of the image to be displayed when the button is pressed down. 9 After changing the caption or image path for a button, click on the Update Row button. 10 Click on the Add Button button to add a new button to the POS screen 1 Double-click on the folder icon next to Main Menu to expand the list. You can then double-click on the additional folder icons that display to further expand the list and show all available buttons. 2 Click to select the button you want to modify. close the Add New Layer window. 12 Click on the Delete button to delete an existing button or layer from the menu. 13 Click on the Save button to save your entries. Grid Color Options Tab The Grid Color Options tab is used to designate the various colors used in the item grid. Click on the name of the button you want to add, then click on the OK button. The name of the new button will display in the list under the current folder, and you can modify its caption, icon, and images and move it up and down within the list. Click on the Cancel button to close the Add New Button window. 11 Click on the Add Layer button to add a new layer to the existing POS menu (e.g., Customers, Transaction Type, Line Items, etc.) 1 Under General Colors, the colors currently being used for the Selected-Row Font, Unselected-Row Font, Background, Grid, Selected Row, Unselected Row, and Discount Present are displayed. You can change them by clicking on the corresponding Select New Color buttons, then making a selection from the Choose a Color window. Select the layer you want to add from the list, then click on the OK button. Click on the Cancel button to 12 POS Designer Utility
2 Under Lookup Field Color, the color currently being used for the current store lookup field is displayed. You can change it by clicking on the Select New Color button next to it, then making a selection from the Choose a Color window. 1 To change the location of the Grid File, Item Menu, Preset Cash Keys, or POS Button files, click in the corresponding file path name edit box and enter the changes, or click on the Select File button next to the file location to select the file from the dialog box. 3 Under Quantity Column Colors, the colors currently being used for Quantity=0, Quantity<0, and Shipped>0 are displayed. You can change them by clicking on the corresponding Select New Color buttons, then making a selection from the Choose a Color window. 4 Under Quantity On-Hand Color, the colors currently being used for Quantity On-Hand<1 and Quantity On-Hand<0 are displayed. You can change them by clicking on the corresponding Select New Color buttons, then making a selection from the Choose a Color window. 5 Under Shippable Field Color, the color currently being used when the Shippable indicator is true (Y) is displayed. You can change it by clicking on the Select New Color button next to it, then making a selection from the Choose a Color window. Click to highlight the file to use, then click on the Open file button to continue. 2 Click on the Save button to save your entries. 6 Click on the Save button to save your entries.
