No special cords are required when using these monaural inputs for devices such as Escort radar detectors and Garmin GPS units. A B 9V Battery compartment Belt clip 4

Usage: The Mix-It was tested with, and is compatible with almost any device with a headphone output jack. This includes AM/FM radios, MP3 players, CD players, satellite radios, etc. In the case of Escort radar detectors and Garmin GPS units, the twp monaural inputs are internally isolated to eliminate the need for special ground loop isolator cables. The Mix-It2 has four inputs, two stereo inputs and two isolated monaural inputs. The two stereo inputs are designed for use with audio sources, or radar detectors which have stereo output, such as the Valentine 1. The two monaural inputs are intended for use with devices such as GPS units, monaural radar detectors (most radar detectors are monaural), etc. Configuring the Mix-It2: All inputs are combined, amplified, and sent to your headphones, speakers, or earbuds as a single signal. To maximize the effective use of multiple devices, it is necessary to set each devices volume control appropriately. The Mix-It volume control adjusts the level of the combined audio signals from ALL sources, even the priority input. This is handy if you pull into a toll-booth, or stop at a light to talk with a fellow rider you can turn down all devices simultaneously, talk, then turn them all back up. To ensure proper volume levels, please refer to the following configuration guidelines: If ALL of the devices you will be connecting have their own volume controls, follow the Setup A. If ANY of the devices you will connect DO NOT have their own volume control (e.g. some radar detectors), follow Setup B If you are connecting a satellite radio alone, or with ALL other devices having their own volume controls, follow Setup C If you are connecting a satellite radio with ANY other devices that DO NOT have their own volume control, follow Setup D Setup A: (All devices have a volume control, not connecting a satellite radio) 1. Set the Mix-It volume control to the half-way point. 2. Connect the first music source to the Mix-It and adjust it s volume level so that it is comfortable. If you have any additional music sources, turn off the first device, and follow Step 1 again for each additional device. 3. If you will be using a voice-enabled GPS, turn on one music source and connect the GPS to one of the monaural jacks. If using the non-priority input, adjust the GPS volume so that you can hear the GPS instructions over the music (with most Garmin GPS s, you can make it speak by pressing the Speak button, and adjust the volume by pressing and holding the Speak button to bring up the volume control. See your owner s manual for other brands.) If using it with the priority input, adjust the volume so it is comfortable. 4. If you will be using a radar detector, turn on one of the music sources, and connect the detector to one of the monaural inputs. Turn the detector on and use the test tones to set it s volume so you can hear it over the music, or if it is plugged into the priority input, so that the level is comfortable. 5

Usage (continued): Setup B: (At least one device does not have a volume control; not connecting a satellite radio) 1. Set the Mix-It volume control to the minimum level. 2. Plug in the device without a volume control (e.g. radar detector) and turn it on. Adjust the Mix-It volume so that the level is comfortable. 3. Connect the first music source to the Mix-It and set it s volume level so to the same or slightly lower level. If you have additional music sources, connect them and adjust their volume levels. 4. Setup C: (Satellite radio alone, or with all device having their own volume control) 1. Set the volume control on the Mix-It to about the one-quarter level and turn it on. 2. Connect the satellite radio receiver to one of the Mix-It stereo inputs. Adjust the satellite radio output level to maximum (in the menu of the Delphi SkyFi or Roady, check your operating instructions for other models). 3. Adjust the Mix-It volume control until the sound level is comfortable. 4. If you have any additional music sources, connect them and adjust their volume levels so that they are about the same as the satellite radio. 5. 6. If you will be using a radar detector, turn on one of the music sources, and connect the detector to one of the monaural inputs. Turn the detector on and use the test tones to set it s volume so you can hear it over the music, or if it is plugged into the priority input, so that the level is comfortable. Setup D: (Satellite radio with at least one device that does not have a volume control) 1. Set the Mix-It volume control to the minimum level. 2. Plug in the device without a volume control (e.g. radar detector) and turn it on. Adjust the Mix-It volume so that the level is comfortable. 3. Connect the satellite radio receiver to one of the Mix-It stereo inputs. Adjust the satellite radio output level to maximum (in the menu of the Delphi SkyFi or Roady, check your operating instructions for other models). 4. If you have any additional music sources, connect them and adjust their volume levels so that they are about the same as the satellite radio. 6

Setup D (continued) 5. Troubleshooting guide: Power indicator and/or battery low do not turn on. Power indicator is on, but I still do not hear anything. What does the red light mean? The red light flashes when I turn the unit on or off. How do I power the Mix- It2 off my bike? I hear noise when using my device with the Mix- It2. My GPS sounds distorted. The mute is not fully muting the other audio channels The mute fades back in very quickly. Check that the 9V battery is inserted correctly, the unit will not turn on if the battery is reversed. Damage will not occur to the Mix-It due to reverse installation of the battery. When using the accessory power cord, check that the center conductor is positive (+) and the outer shell is negative ( ). If you have a device plugged into the monaural priority jack, unplug it and see if audio returns. If so, the device may be incompatible, or turning it s volume down might help. This is the battery low indicator, it comes on when the 9V battery drops to 7 volts indicating 1-2 hours of battery life remaining. This is normal. The included power cord can be used to wire your Mix-It2 into your bike s fuse panel. The black wire goes to ground and the black wire with white trace should be connected to +12v at the fuse block. The Mix-It2 draws less than.25 amp, so a fuse rated for 1 or 5 amps is recommended. The Mix-It2 will not pick up noise when run off a 9V battery, and has a built-in noise reducer when powered off your bike. The likely culprit is your device, which may need it s own power filter (when running off bike power). Try turning the GPS volume down, this usually solves the problem. The battery is getting weak, but perhaps not to the point of triggering the battery low indicator. The battery is getting weak, but perhaps not to the point of triggering the battery low indicator. 7
