Beyond the Slopes Initiative: Freeride Project INITIATIVE'S MISSION: Provide further incentive for students to use the BOYNE Student Freeride Program to benefit their academic future while making a positive difference in the lives of others, whether it be around northern Michigan or around the world.

OVERVIEW Your Objective To start something that will have a significant positive impact on society. That's intentionally broad to allow for creativity. This can be a service (one-time or ongoing), an organization, even a socially conscious business venture. We're not going to handcuff innovative thinking with a bunch of rules; so the only rule we have is... you must start something specifically for this initiative (meaning you can't submit a project you're already doing for a class at school). Keys to Success 1. KEEP THE IDEA SIMPLE!!! This can't be stressed enough... ideas that catch on are almost always incredibly simple, this makes them easy to communicate & spread. 2. Get fully dialed in on your idea and map it out before putting it in action. 3. Find a good mentor to help you... a teacher, parent, business professional, etc. What's in it for You? A valuable addition to your resume for job and college applications The satisfaction of making a positive difference in the world Experience that will prepare you to do more great things in your future Oh, and you could be rewarded... the best project gets a $1,000 BOYNE Gift Card, second place gets a $500 card and third gets a $250 card Plus, the mentor for the top project gets a 2019/20 Gold Pass, the second place mentor gets a Silver Pass and the third place mentor gets a Bronze Pass

REQUIREMENTS & DATES Registration You must register your project with BOYNE by January 31, 2019 (you can register and start your project anytime before then... just make sure you've received a registration confirmation email before you start). To register your project: 1. Go to boyne.com/freeride 2. Click on the link "" 3. Follow the instructions on the registration page of the packet to register your project Project Submission You must submit your "completed" project by May 15, 2019 ("completed" in the sense of being ready for evaluation... we strongly encourage you to continue growing your project after May 15th). To submit your project: 1. Go to boyne.com/freeride 2. Click on the link for "" 3. Follow the instructions on the submission page of the packet to submit your project Evaluation Each project will be reviewed and evaluated by representatives from Boyne Resorts. These representatives will select the top three Freeride Projects by evaluating: The quality of the idea (25%) Implementation (25%) The impact (and potential future impact) of the project (50%) The top three Freeride Projects will be announced on June 1, 2019

FREERIDE PROJECT: REGISTRATION Due by January 31, 2019 (project can be started before this date) Create a Word document that includes the following details and email it to Brian Main at bmain@boyne.com to register. You will receive an email confirming your registration within 24 hours. On the first page of your document, include: A Project Name Student Name(s) School(s) Grade(s) Student(s) Contact Info: phone number & email address Project Mentor's Name Who are they (teacher, parent, business professional, etc.) Mentor Contact Info: phone number & email address On the next page(s), include: Answers to the following questions (take as much or as little space as you need to fully explain your Freeride Project). Email any questions to bmain@boyne.com 1. What is your project idea (describe precisely what you plan to do and how)? 2. Who will your project benefit and what's the potential positive impact? 3. What's your "to-do list" for implementation (break your project down into manageable steps... what are they)?
