Flex Focus 1202 Software 4.6.6 Installation Procedure IMPORTANT: The installation procedure must be carried out only by B-K service personnel or their authorised representatives, who are aware of the hazards involved. Necessary tools for the installation: DVD or USB flash key with the software: 4.6.6 USB keyboard (only necessary if you cannot start up the scanner in servicemode) When you have upgraded a scanner you should also update the online configuration database found on the service website. The update procedure takes under normal circumstances about half an hour. 1. Normal Software Installation The software installation can be done as an Upgrade or a Clean Installation. Both starts by bringing the scanner into Service Mode (If the scanner cannot start up in service mode go to the 2. section of this guide - Recovery) 1.1 Start-up scanner and wait for complete boot up. 1.2 Switch to service mode by pressing ALT+X and entering password: viking 1.3 When the scanner shuts down it must be restarted again 1.4 Insert USB/DVD with the sw. 1.5 Start Explorer and navigate to the USB/DVD 1.6 Double click on BK_UPGRADE_SCANNER shortcut 2 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

1.7 Click Next 1.8 If doing upgrade click Next. If making a clean installation tick the Yes, I want a clean installation and then click on Next (Clean installation means that factory settings are restored and the scanner is set back to the stage as when it was produced. I.e. all customized setting will be deleted, however, patient data (scans, clips, 3D volumes) will stay intact) 4.6.6 Rev A 3 of 22

1.9 Select your scanner type and click Next 1.10 If the correct profile has been selected then click on Next, otherwise click Back and select the correct profile 4 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

ONLY for Flex Focus 700 1.11 If FlexFocus 700 was selected you will get this message: 1.12 If you have a remote control Bluetooth dongle installed on the scanner then remove it now 1.13 Wait for the files to be copied (some of the files may take a long time the first minutes it looks like nothing is happening but be patient!). After the process has copied the necessary files the system will automatically reboot a couple of times. 4.6.6 Rev A 5 of 22

ONLY for Flex Focus 700 1.14 If FlexFocus 700 was selected you will get this message: 1.15 If you have a remote control Bluetooth dongle then connect it to the scanner now and then click OK 1.16 The Hardware programming will now run automatically so just wait 1.17 During update of some of the hardware, the installation program may come up with a warning because the item is not there. On Flex Focus without TrackPad you will get the below message. A description of the installations steps preformed are then found in the file C:\Console\Dump\HARDWARE.LOG TrackPad 4.6.6 Rev A 7 of 22

1.18 Click OK 1.19 When the Console Software Upgrade Tool comes up it will automatically start (this will not happen if Clean Installation was selected so skip to step 1.21) 1.20 When the Import of Pro Packages is reached the following dialog will appear Use new Pro Packs (default) Back up old pro packages but only new pro packages are shown on the scanner Recommended for all upgrades from versions prior to 4.6 User-defined view setups from existing pro packs will be copied to the new pro pack Use existing Pro Packs Deletes the new pro packs and import all existing pro packs on the scanner Recommended when upgrading from 4.6 except if you upgrade to support new transducers Custom When Custom is pressed a list of all existing pro packs are shown The user can select the pro packs he want to keep Keep both existing and new Pro Packs If not set the new pro pack with the same name as the selected existing pro packs will be deleted from scanner to avoid duplicates If set both existing and new Pro packs will be on the scanner (duplicates) User defined view setups from existing pro packs will be found only in the existing Pro packs and NOT copied to the new Pro packs 8 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

1.21 When the installation has finished you should see the following window 1.22 If no problems or error messages occurred during installation just click Finish. If error messages occurred then remove the tick for Set system to scanner mode first and then click Finish when system then starts in service mode go to the FAQ section of this guide 1.23 When the system is turned off then remove the power cord/and batteries (if unit has battery support) wait 10 seconds and then replug the power cord 1.24 Turn on the scanner 1.25 Check that operation is normal (consult with service manual chapter 3) 4.6.6 Rev A 9 of 22

2. Recovery (Booting from DVD/USB) 2.1. If installing from DVD, remove the DVD from the drive, but leave the DVD door open with no DVD inside. 2.2. Switch off the scanner 2.3. Connect a USB keyboard to one of the four connectors on the back of the Keyboard dock. 2.4. If installing from USB Flask Key, connect it in the back next to the keyboard and remove all other external USB devices from the Scanner (e.g. USB Flash keys). 2.5. Turn on the scanner 2.6. After about 10 seconds a number of beeps will be heard - at that moment press "Delete" once and wait for password prompt for the BIOS setup. 2.7. Enter the password BKLUNA (remember to turn on Caps Lock for capital letters) 2.8. Go to the 6th menu "Exit" (using ) 2.9. Go to the line "Load Optimal Defaults" (using ) and press Enter 2.10. Press Enter on [OK] 4.6.6 Rev A 11 of 22

2.11. Go to the 4th menu "Boot" (using ) 2.12. Go to the line "1st Boot Device" (using ) 2.13. Press Enter and select device to be "USB: XXX " and press Enter E.g. If you want to load SW from USB flash key, select the USB:USB brand-name 2.14. If installing from DVD, insert the Image Installation DVD. 2.15. Go to the 6th menu "Exit" (using ) 2.16. Go to the line Save Changes and Exit (using ) and press Enter 2.17. Press Enter on [OK] 2.18. When screen turns black and the first beep is heard, remove the power cord from the outlet to switch off scanner.(if upgrading a scanner with battery support - the batteries must be removed) 2.19. Insert the power cord after 30 sec. and push Power-button. Wait 2-4 minutes for the Windows Preinstall Environment to boot. In case you get a BSOD (Blue Screen), just remove the power cord, and wait for 1 minute before inserting the power cord and start. Wait 2-4 minutes for the Windows Preinstall Environment to boot. The scanner will take no damage due to the BSOD, as this can be caused by tolerances of a Windows driver used in the image installation DVD/USB flash key and we are working on a solution for this issue. This problem will not appear in console mode. Make sure you remove the cord and then wait for the specified periode before you continue. 4.6.6 Rev A 13 of 22

Shall drive c: be formattet Press y to Format Any other key to continue enter your choice y,n: 2.23. If you want to format the disk before installing the software then press y 14 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

2.24. Wait for the files to be copied. When all files are copied the below screen will appear: 2.25. The scanner will now reboot when you press any key when it does that a number of beeps will be heard - at that moment press "Delete" once and wait for password prompt for the BIOS setup. 2.26. Enter the password BKLUNA (remember to turn on Caps Lock for capital letters) 2.27. Go to the 6th menu "Exit" (using ) 2.28. Go to the line "Load Optimal Defaults" (using ) and press Enter 2.29. Press Enter on [OK] 2.30. Remove the Image Installation DVD/USB flash key 2.31. Go to the line Save Changes and Exit (using ) and press Enter 2.32. Remove the power cord from the outlet as soon as you hear the first beep or even before. 2.33. Insert the power cord after 30 sec. and push the Power-button to start scanner 4.6.6 Rev A 15 of 22

2.34. The scanner will now start up and do a drive letter check in a Command prompt and then restart with the following screen 2.35. Click Next 2.36. The installation will continue as a normal clean installation so follow the procedure from step 1.9 16 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

3. FAQ 3.1. System boots in Recovery mode instead of Upgrade mode If during an Upgrade the system boots up from the DVD/USB stick then the boot device must be changed in the BIOS. It is important that the BIOS setting is changed after the first reboot otherwise customer system settings may be lost! 1. Switch off the scanner (Press and hold Power button for 10 seconds) 2. Connect a USB keyboard to one of the four connectors on the back of the Keyboard dock. 3. Turn on the scanner 4. After about 10 seconds a number of beeps will be heard - at that moment press "Delete" once and wait for password prompt for the BIOS setup. 5. Enter the password BKLUNA (remember to turn on Caps Lock for capital letters) 6. Go to the 6th menu "Exit" (using ) 7. Go to the line "Load Optimal Defaults" (using ) and press Enter 8. Press Enter on [OK] 9. Remove the Image Installation DVD/USB flash key 10. Go to the line Save Changes and Exit (using ) and press Enter 11. The installation will continue as a normal upgrade so follow the procedure from step 0 4.6.6 Rev A 17 of 22

3.2 Installation reports a failure during Hardware Programming 1. Double Click on Program_all 2. A Command Prompt window will appear - just wait until you see that the scanner wants you to press any key to continue. This may take some time, so be patient 3. Scroll up and examine for any failures. 4. Press any key to close this window. 5. Double click on the Shutdown Scanner icon on desktop to turn of the scanner. If you find any errors, try to run again otherwise contact support@bkmed.dk 6. Remove the power cable and wait about 30 seconds and then reconnect. 7. Start scanner by pushing the Power-button. 8. Set the scanner back to normal mode 18 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

3.3 How to import setup from the backup directory When upgrading the scanner a copy (backup) of the existing Pro Packs and View Setups are stored on the S:\ drive. To import these setting do the following: 1. Go into Service Mode 2. Open Explorer and open the S:\drive 3. On the S:\ drive there is a folder for each upgrade that has been made in the format : ConsoleUpgradeYYYYMMDD_HHMMSS where YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS is the date and time of when the upgrade was made. In the folder you find all the Pro Packs copy the one(s) that you want to import to a USB stick or a CD/DVD 4.6.6 Rev A 19 of 22

4. Start the Console 5. Go to Image Adcvanced On Customize Export/Import 6. Click on Import 7. Select the Pro Pack(es) and click OK 8. The imported Pro Pack will now appear in the list. If a Pro Pack is on the system already with the same name the imported will be renamed: name + 1 9. Set back the system to normal mode 20 of 22 4.6.6 Rev A

3.4 Getting back from Service Mode to Console (User) Mode 1. Double-click on the icon named Start in Console Mode 2. Click Yes 3. Click OK 4. Double-click on the icon named Reboot scanner 5. When scanner has started, it is ready for normal use 4.6.6 Rev A 21 of 22
