Knowledge Base - Most Recent Articles Published: March 15, 2011 by Sean Arians (Level II Support) Category: CleanSweep - Installation Alternative Category: General / RMA - Product Compatibility Problem: Customer wants to install CleanSweep onto a Kinze planter with row unit mounted Kinze Double Arm Coulters and Martin C125MTR row cleaners. This installation is not normally compatible for clearance issues. Specifically the top portion of the right hand 'Arm' of the coulter (when facing the row unit from the front) mounts occupies the area required by the CleanSweep cylinder and mounting bracket. In-Field Solution: None supported - see below IMPORTANT -- This modification may compromise the structural integrity of the Kinze Double Arm Coulter. Precision Planting DOES NOT recommend nor support this modification. Precision Planting assumes NO liability for any consequences of this modification. This installation does not void the warranty of CleanSweep components from Precision Planting for component design or wear, however the warranty will not cover damage to product caused by installation and use on these row units. These instructions are a reflection of direct requests for this information and are being provided in an attempt to minimize the structural impact made on the Kinze Double Arm Coulter. 1. Use CleanSweep kit 2. The Kinze Double Arm Coulter bracket will need to be significantly modified to accomodate CleanSweep components (Continue on following page) 955224_02 7 1.31.2014
3. When facing coulter from the front of the row unit, the top portion of the right hand arm of the coulter bracket will need to be notched out. This will allow room for the cylinder base bracket and also adequate space for the cylinder to be placed in all recommended settings.follow the dimensions on the pictures as a guide for making the correct modifications to the coulter bracket. Remove the material within the designated area. Top / Front View 955224_02 8 1.31.2014

The below image is a side view of the Cylinder Base Mount Bracket. Use ONLY the 1 top hole and 1 bottom hole closest to the row unit face plate for mounting the cylinder base. The top hole will increase the magnitude of force applied to the row cleaner while the bottom hole will decrease the magnitude of force applied to the row cleaner. The hole used on the rod mounting bracket should correspond to the same hole used on the cylinder base bracket. (e.g. Top to top; bottom to bottom) IMPORTANT -- This modification may compromise the structural integrity of the Kinze Double Arm Coulter.
