The The Digipass Digipass DP550 DP550 5.0 5.0 Chapter 1 The DP550
Chapter 1 The DP550 The DP550 The DP550 is the Digipass of choice for the authorization process in Eurolight. This small, calculator-like device offers a secure way to identify the validity of the user that attempts to log in to the trading facilities. However, since there is no Digipass DP550 Manual from Vasco, we will attempt to give some information about its use here. No rights or guarantees can be given however, since the writer of this manual is dependent on information from external sources. 4

Chapter 2 Digipass Device operation Digipass Device operation In this chapter we will describe the functionality of the buttons and options on the DP550 device. Upon opening the cover panel, you have access to a numeric pad on the left, and a big round button with three icons on the right. The LCD display is situated at the top. The right side round button has three separate functions, indicated by the I, S and Triangle symbols. Below is a short description of the function of each. I button S button Triangle button 2.1 Clear entry System browser Enter function. Also used to activate the device. The I button The I button is used to revert back to the PIN code request option. Use this button to lock your DP550 device. 2.2 The S button The S button is a system browse button. Pressing this button multiple times browses through the following options: CHANGE PIN? Press Triangle to enter this option. The device requests your old PIN code, after which this function is released. You can now enter a new PIN code, subject to a suitability check. For instance, PIN code 1111 will not be accepted as well as the previous code. TEST BATT? Press Triangle to activate the Battery check. In the display the power supply will be depicted in a %. The DP550 device has enough power to last for up to 3 years, depending on level of use. The battery is not replaceable. SHOW SN? Press Triangle to show this device's Serial Number. This number is identical to the one on the sticker at the backside. 2.2.1 Important note about batteries Batteries are not replaceable. When the battery is depleted, or removed, the DP550 device looses all stored information, and will need to be replaced as a whole. Contact the exchange helpdesk for replacement.
2.3 Digipass Device operation The Triangle button The Triangle button is used as an Enter key does on a normal computer keyboard. Press the Triangle button once to start the device. 7
The The Digipass Digipass DP550 DP550 5.0 5.0 Chapter 3 DP550 Use
Chapter 3 DP550 Use DP550 Use Each user needs to have a separate Digipass, custom assigned to him. Each device only will function when the correct PIN code is entered to start it. 3.1 Initial use When first received, the DP550 device is still in factory mode. This means that the first time you start the device, you as the new user need to enter a PIN code. Eurolight will make the factory PIN code available to you for this first time use. Enter this code when the device requests so. Right after this, the device prompts you to enter your own, unique PIN code. This you have to do twice to confirm no mistyping has occurred. Note that the DP550 device checks your PIN code for suitability as a PIN code. For instance, code 1111 will not be accepted, nor will the previous code be accepted. 3.2 Normal use To log in into Eurolight, you need a functioning DP550 device assigned to you. Open the cover of the device, and press the Triangle to activate the device. Enter your PIN code and press the Triangle again. The device displays the message 'CHALLENGE?' in the LCD display. Enter the Challenge code as offered in the Login challenge dialog of Eurolight. Make sure you enter the correct sequence. Press the Triangle again to enter the challenge code. After a few moments, the device displays the Response code. Enter this sequence in the Response field of the Login challenge dialog of Eurolight. This challenge / response code exchange is what constitutes the validity check. It makes sure you as a user has authorization to access the trading system. 3.3 Switch off To switch the DP550 device off, just wait for 1 minute. The device will switch itself off. This behaviour helps prevent malevolent use of an already 'PIN code released' device.
DP550 Use Pressing the I button will set the device back to the start-up situation, requesting for your PIN code. 11
The The Digipass Digipass DP550 DP550 5.0 5.0 Chapter 4 Device Lockups
Chapter 4 Device Lockups Device Lockups The DP550 device is protected from fraudulent use. There are two separate mechanisms to prevent such use. 1. The PIN code 2. The Challenge and Response codes 4.1 PIN codes You have only three attempts to enter the correct PIN code. If the third attempt is invalid, the device will lock up, only offering a Challenge code. The display offers: UNL code: <a number>. You need to contact the exchange with this UNL code to receive an Unlock code. Enter this Unlock code to reactivate your DP550 device. Note that after the first invalid attempt to enter a PIN code, the device will request it again immediately. But after an invalid second attempt, it will wait for 1 minute before you can reattempt. This behavior forces you to be careful with the last attempt. Important: The very first time the device is blocked this way, it will not offer a Challenge code. It will request that a Puk code is entered. The display offers: Unlock code 1. The exchange needs to provide this code. Enter the received unlock code as described above. Setting PIN code 4.2 Challenge / Response codes Apart from making sure the access to the DP550 device is valid, you also need to enter the correct Response code to the challenge offered. Failing to do so for three consequential attempts will block your access to the exchange servers. You need to contact the exchange helpdesk to reset your account to regain access to the trading systems. This is not a mechanism on the DP550 device itself, but is part of the combination of your DP550 device, and the Digipass library managed by the system operator.
