1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION 1.1 RANGE OF APPLICATIONS The vibration meter is designed to test conventional vibrations, especially the vibration test in rotating and reciprocating machines. It can be used not only to test the acceleration, velocity and displacement of vibration, but also to record and print out values. The technical specifications of the meter comply with the requirements of this vibration scale of the testing meter specified by ISO 2954 international standards. The meter is widely used in machinery, power, metallurgy, automobile and other industrial sectors. 1.2 BASIC WORKING PRINCIPLE The meter employs piezoelectric acceleration type transducers to convert vibration signals into electric signals. Then by analyzing and processing input signals, tested values are displayed or printed out. 1.3 BASIC CONFIGURATION AND METER COMPONENT DESCRIPTION 1.3.1 BASIC CONFIGURATION TV100 main body 1 Micro printer 1 Vibration testing transducer 1 Battery charger 1 Magnetic suction base 1 2 Manual TV-100

3 HOW TO USE THE METER 3.1 KEYPAD OPERATION 3.1.1 FUNCTION OF THE KEYS The keypad of TV100 is shown as Fig.3-1. There are six keys: RUN/STOP, AVD, UP, DOWN, DATE and PRINT key. Fig.3-1 RUN/STOP key: Measure and hold. Press RUN/STOP key once to measure. The tested value will be displayed on the screen. At this time, other keys (such as AVD, DATE, etc.) are disabled. Press RUN/STOP key again to enter waiting status. The last tested value is displayed. And the last tested value is stored automatically. Two seconds later, 1 is added to "point number". TV100 has 10 store units. Every store unit has a point number (0, 1 8, 9 ) to indicate its series number. Each store unit can store 1 tested value. AVD key: DATE key: Switch among three measuring modes. Press AVD key, A (Acceleration), V (Velocity) and D (Displacement) will be chosen and displayed in turn. A (Acceleration) mode is the default setting of TV100. Switch among year, month and date settings. Fig.3-2 UP, DOWN key: PRINT key: 1. Adjust year, month or date settings with DATE key. 2. Adjust point number of store unit. print tested values in the store units. For example: If the point number displayed is 5, then tested values in store unit 0,1,2,3,4 and 5 will be printed. Note: in Date state, when press PRINT key, the printer will feed in paper. Manual TV-100 7
3.1.2 EXAMPLE: TO TEST VIBRATION DISPLACEMENT AND PRINT THE TESTED RESULT 1) Install the transducer properly. 2) Switch on the power switch. The information as shown in Fig.3-3 will be displayed after the full LCD screen ( Fig.1-3 (A)) is displayed. Fig.3-3 3) Press AVD key until displacement mode is chosen, as shown in Fig.3-4. Fig.3-4 4) Press RUN/STOP key to test. The tested value will be displayed on the screen, as shown in Fig.3-5. Fig.3-5 5) Press RUN/STOP key again to enter waiting status. The last tested value is displayed. And the last tested value is stored in current point number (say point 0 in this example). Two seconds later, 1 is added to "point number", and it displays the value in the new point number (say point 1 in this example), as shown in Fig.3-6. 8 Manual TV-100
Fig.3-6 6) To go on testing, repeat step 4) and 5). 7) Switch on the printer and prepare to print. 8) Press PRINT key. Tested values in current point number and in previous point numbers will all be printed. 9) If no other test is needed, switch off the TV100. 3.2 INSTALLATION OF TRANSDUCER 3.2.1 INSTALLATION PRINCIPLE - The testing position should show the vibration characters of the object to be tested. - The main axis of the transducers should be consistent with the direction of he object to be tested. - The transducers should be in close contact with the object to be tested. 3.2.2 INSTALL METHOD 1) Installed with bolt Application range: Usage: Screw eye has no influence on the running of the object being tested. Drill a screw eye 5mm deep in the object being tested. Connect the transducer to the object by bolts (see Fig.3-7). And this is the method that the frequency response is best. Fig. 3-7 Manual TV-100 9
2) Installed with magnetic base Application range: Magnetic, flat surface, roughness less than Ra1.6, acceleration less than 20 m/s2. Usage: Before usage, take off the iron wafer and rubber wafer under magnetic base (ensure enough suction), and then screw up the magnetic base on transducer (see Fig. 3-8). After usage, put back the iron wafer and rubber wafer to maintain the magnetism. Fig. 3-8 3) Installed with probe Applications range: Fig. 3-9 Usage: Frequency is less than 1KHz; vibration energy is not too small. Connect the needle to the transducer directly by using probe groupware (see Fig. 3-9) 10 Manual TV-100
4 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING - Strictly avoid collision, heavy dust, dampness, strong magnetic field, oil, grease and dirt. - Twinkling of BETT in the LCD indicates low-battery. Charge the TV100 for 8 hours. It is better to switch off the TV100 while charging. - Don't use alcohol or diluent to clean TV100. They will erode TV100, especially the display window of TV100. A little water can be used to clean it. - Don't plug or unplug transducer or printer while TV100 is power on. - Don't switch on TV100 right after switch off. Please leave 5 seconds to switch on again. - If the printer doesn't work well, switch off the power and switch it on 30 seconds later. - If the TV100 is down, switch off the power and switch it on 5 seconds later. - If the tested value is beyond the testing range, refer to 2.1, the up limit value 1999 will be displayed in LCD and the LIMIT indicator will twinkle till the tested value is within the testing range. - The vibration meter is a high-precision instrument and is subject to environment influence. So it should be calibrated periodically. Manual TV-100 11
