Announcing IQ Central v1.9 Peek Traffic is pleased to announce the release of Version 1.9 of the IQ Central Central-System Traffic Management Software. This release adds full support for Peek s new advanced traffic controllers, the ATC-1000 and ATC-2000. It also adds a more robust, system-wide device-by-device pattern monitoring viewer, support for the Traconex 390-J9 intersection controller, and increased networked stability. It also adds the new IQ Central Event Scheduler module, which has Time Synchronization and Central Pattern Override support built-in. This update is recommended for all users of IQ Central. Product... IQ Central Version... Version 1.9 Release Date...August 21, 2009 Product Requirements This release of the software requires a Windows compatible computer, running Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Support for Vista and Windows 7 requires that the IQ Central Vista/Windows 7 Patch also is installed on each IQ Centrral server and workstation. This patch can be downloaded from the Peek Traffic website at http://www.peektraffic.com/ptiqcentral.htm. For all features to work, the system must also have Microsoft Office, version 2000, version 2003, or version 2007, installed and properly configured on the system. To connect with field hardware, communications channels to those devices will also need to be available. Devices capable of using the NTCIP protocol natively, such as the Peek ATC-1000, ATC-2000, and ASTC family of controllers can be connected to IQ Central directly via one of these communications channels. Other non-ntcip compatible devices will need an additional piece of hardware; an IQ Connect translator unit, installed somewhere near (or in the case of Peek 3000E controllers, within) the device. If upgrading from a previous version of IQ Central, we recommend that you first make backup copies of the IQ Central database and associated files, and uninstall the earlier version of the application. For such system updates, additional conversion work on the earlier IQ Central database may need to be performed by a Peek Traffic technician prior to use. Please contact Peek Traffic Tech Support for additional information about upgrading IQ Central. Installing IQ Central IQ Central Version 1.9 should not be installed without the guidance of a Peek Traffic customer support representative. The following procedures describe how to install the software on a new system (see below) or how to upgrade a previous version of IQ Central to Version 1.9. (See Page 8.) Installing IQ Central v1.9 on a New System 1. On each system where IQ Central will be installed, verify that the operating system is at Windows XP. (IQ Central Version 1.9 is not compatible with Windows 2000, NT, or ME.) 2. If you will be using IQ Central on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system, locate the IQ Central Patch on the Peek Traffic website. Download it and install it on each workstation where IQ Central will be installed. It can be found at http://www.peektraffic.com/ptiqcentral.htm. 3. Verify that a properly licensed version of either Microsoft Office 2000, 2003, or 2007 is installed on each system. (IQ Central Version 1.9 is not compatible with Office 2007.) 4. Locate the license key for IQ Central. This code should have been provided along with the installation CD. If not, contact your Peek Traffic service representative in order to request a valid license key. 5. Log in to the computer using an account that has administrative rights to this computer. In particular, the account needs to be able to start and stop Windows Services. 6. Insert the IQ Central installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the workstation where you want to install the program. 7. If auto-run is not configured on this CD-ROM drive, open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the drive. Locate the Setup.exe installation program and double-click it. This will launch the installation program. Figure 1 IQ Central Installation menu 8. Choose the Install IQ Central button. 9. Follow the directions on-screen. You will need to accept the software license in order to install the program. Page 3 of 21

10. When you get to the Customer Information dialog box (See Figure 2), enter the user name, organization, and your installation key in the fields. This key will determine whether the BMP or GIS mapping version of IQ Central is installed, as well as which optional modules are installed. Figure 2 Entering the Installation Key 11. Next, the Configure Service Account screen appears. Several functions of IQ Central operate as Windows Services, which need to be able to log in to your system under a specific user account, particularly it must be a user account that has the proper permissions to start and stop Windows services. Figure 3 Configure Service Account dialog box The User name and Domain name will be pulled from your computer s Windows environment, based on the currently logged in account. If you need to modify them, do so. Enter the proper password for this account. Be very careful when entering the password. (Make sure the CAPS LOCK key is not on, for instance.) Whenever your computer starts up, it will automatically attempt to start several IQ Central services using this account information. When you ve entered the three pieces of information correctly, press NEXT. Page 4 of 21

12. If you plan to install IQ Central in the standard location on your hard drive, namely at C:\Program Files\Peek Traffic Corp\IQCentral, then choose Typical on the next screen. On the other hand, if you wish to install the software at some other location on your hard drives, choose Custom. If you do chose Custom, press the Browse button to select the install location for your IQ Central applications. In the tree view in this window, you also have the option to select whether you want to install the IQ Central Help system and/or the sample IQ Central database. Press Next. Note: For most installations of the system, you should go ahead and install the sample database. If you plan to retain data from a previous version of IQ Central, we recommend that you install the sample database anyway, and then contact Peek Traffic about restoring your existing data into the new database. 13. To install the files and database as selected, press Install. 14. Complete the steps in the installation until you reach the last screen, then choose the Finish button. 15. Restart the computer to complete the installation. 16. Repeat the process on each workstation for which you purchased a license. When installing to client workstations, be sure to select the Custom option and uncheck the Alarm Server, Scheduler Service, & Scheduler Console components. 17. To configure multiple workstations to connect to a single IQ Central Server, some work will need to be done configuring the Windows Distributed Communications (DCOM) system. First, go to the server computer that will host the IQ Central services. Right-click on the My Computer icon and choose Properties. Select the Computer Name tab, and write down the Full computer name that is shown there. This identifies that PC on this network. Then, follow these steps on each workstation other than the server(s): a.) Open the Windows Start menu and go to Programs > Administrative Tools b.) Choose Component Services c.) Select the Component Services item in the tree view, then Computers > My Computer, and finally DCOM Config. Figure 4 Select the DCOM Config section in the Component Services viewer Page 5 of 21

New Features Several new features have been added to IQ Central as part of the Version 1.9 update. Support for Additional Traffic Controllers IQ Central, version 1.9 adds basic support for three additional types of traffic controllers: Peek ATC-1000 Advanced Traffic Controllers Peek ATC-2000 Advanced Transportation Controllers Traconex 390-J9 Traffic Controller Basic support includes the ability to add these device types in the Add Device dialog box: New Device Types Figure 17 New devices in the Enter/Edit Devices window It also includes the ability to edit all of the controller database fields for the Traconex 390-J9, ATC-1000 and ATC-2000 in the Upload/Download module: Page 15 of 21

Figure 18 Editing Traconex 390-J9 fields in the Upload/Download module And, of course, each of these new controller types can be used in the normal interactive ways on the IQ Central map configuration and map viewing modules: Page 16 of 21

Figure 19 390-J9, ATC-1000 & ATC-2000 devices in the Map Viewer And alarms can also be configured and monitored for, for each of these new device types: Figure 20 Alarm configuration on an 390-J9 controller Page 17 of 21

Updated Pattern Monitor The Pattern Monitor was first added as a tab on the system Alarms Status window in version 1.8 of IQ Central, released in January of 2009. However, in response to user comments and requests, the Pattern Monitor has been upgraded to include an extra column. The addition of the connection status column, and connection column status information in the Pattern description column, allow the pattern monitor to be used as a good, overall status window for traffic controllers in IQ Central. Now, not only can the operator see what pattern each intersection is running, but also whether or not the intersection controller is still connected and responding to central. Figure 21 Alarm/Pattern Monitor Module showing the Pattern Monitor connection status column Event Scheduler The System Scheduler has been added to IQ Central in version 1.9. It allows an operator to schedule pattern changes, time syncing, and log file retrieval as single future events or as events to be repeated at regular or irregular intervals. The System Scheduler can be accessed either by going to the Tools menu and choosing System Scheduler, or by selecting the System Scheduler button on the System Maintenance toolbar. Figure 22 System Scheduler button on the System Maintenance toolbar The System Scheduler has a single window interface for editing scheduled events and tracking upcoming events. Figure 23 System Scheduler window The IQ Central System Scheduler is described in much more detail in the IQ Central help system and in the operating manual. Page 18 of 21

Issues Addressed in this Release The following issues and reported problems with previous versions of IQ Central have been addressed and repaired in IQ Central Version 1.9. Table 3 The Version 1.9 release of IQ Central addresses the following issues Issue Resolution Case # User Comments module - Selecting the Clear button after entering a comment but before the comment is saved results in an error message. Upload/Download module, 3000E database Incorrect units in the Fail Max Time field on the Preemption tab, seconds instead of minutes. Copying one Transyt 1880EL controller database to another is generating an SQL error. Device Groups Deleting a group and then adding a group back was generating an SQL error on occasion Device Groups Deleting all groups and then pressing the Select All or the Select None options results in error messages. Device Database Print 3000E Some subhead row headers were not printing when a PDF file was generated. The specific example was the Detector Times headers for Time Plan 1,2 and 3 in the 3000E database. Device Database Print 3000E Incorrect header rows in the Pedestrian Overlaps pages. Device Database Print 3000E Units on Controller Enhanced > Dimming page currently list phases. They should be overlaps Device Database Print 3000E Units on Controller Enhanced > Soft Flash items currently list phases. They should be overlaps Device Database Print 820A, OSAM LCD Setup, Intersection shape not included in printout Device Database Print 820A Coordination Plans Ring N step data not printing out with correct information Device Database Print Any device type Export to PDF and leave that PDF open. Then Export another PDF. This generated an error message. Device Database Print 1880EL Coordination -> Closed Loop -> Speed Trap Sensors data missing in PDF Error resolved by verifying the event list was not cleared before trying to access original operator comment within the list. Updated the config table for Runs 1-6 to use "Minutes" instead of "Seconds". Result of special characters embedded in the 1880EL database that caused problems for the normal SQL copy function. Updated the code to use a different method for updating the database that is more resilient to odd characters. Corrected cleanup has been done in the DataManager and the Groups form to ensure no orphaned records are left behind when a group is deleted. The Select All / Select None buttons now are grayed out when no groups are in the system. Resolved. Modified code in DatabasePrinter to display the units column when generating the header row. Modified page column header row, Remove 'A' -> 'P', Set first column header to 'Mode'. Upload/Download form modified: Tab: 'Overlaps' sub-tab: 'Pedestrian Overlaps' 1901 3549 4333 4362 4363 4413 4414 Resolved, Updated unit labels in the 3000E database. 4419 Resolved, Changed Units text in 3000E database. 4420 The last emuneration built from recordset was not added to the menumerations collection. Resolved, modified DatabasePrinter code. Resolved code issue in DatabasePrinter. Problem was with the way the data was interpreted by the DatabasePrinter. DatabasePrinter was attempting to store the temp file to the same location as the previous file. Resolved, Code change in DatabasePrinter, Trapped unhandled exception. Resolved, Fixed a database capitalization mismatch between MT_1880EL table and tblenum for OID_Name 4427, 4438 4429 4431 4490 Page 19 of 21

Issue Resolution Case # Upload/Download module Peek ATC controllers - Vehicle Detectors header rows - Detectors 1-16 header rows did not indicate that the numbers corresponded to detectors 1-16. Detectors 17-32 header rows did indicate such. Reports - Error message when attempting to generate a second report when a report was already open Upload/Download module 820A Coord Plans > Coord Constants page. Offset Reference 0 and Exit Coord Type 2 were showing parameter values of (Unknown) Network Stability Some problems reported of client apps slowing down when more than one IQ Central client PC is operating simultaneously. Resolved, Added a column header row for detectors 1-16 that match detectors 17-32. Resolve, Now displays a friendly message stating report is already open. The data was correct in the database, but was being displayed incorrectly. This has been fixed. An incorrect number of DataManager and NTCIPServer instances were being created. These have been resolved to ensure that only one database manager is running on the network and all data is being shared between all clients properly.
