Generality The setup software Acean Configuration facilitates the commissioning and the remote management of three-phase meters NERIS communicating. 1.1 Wiring diagram The communication interface is connected via the port "COM" to a RS485-bus. A PC having a RS485/USB interface is connected to the RS485-bus. Acean Configuration allows to establish a link between the management-pc and the meters. Two communicationprotocols are available : Modbus RTU or ASCII. It is possible to connect up to 31 meters on a same RS485- bus. Acean Configuration can handle up to 247 meters distributed on different buses. The communication parameters are configured individually during installation, on each meter and must be identical (except for adresses) on all meters of a single bus. This settings cannot be changed by Acean Configuration. RS485/USB n 1 @ = 001 n 2 @ = 002 n 247 @ = 247 2. Feature description Acean Configuration sends information to all meters connected to the same bus (broadcast mode) or sends information individually to a meter. 2.1 Collective addressing Broadcast The reserved address for broadcasting is "000". This function is used to update the date and time and to control the tariff change of all meters connected on the bus. 2.2 Individual addressing Depending on the model of the meter and manufacturing setup, the application allows the network administrator to intervene on a meter: Date and time update, Manual switching from one tariff to another (T1, T2, T3 or T4), Meter identification data reading, Allowed parameters changing, Cumulative, partial, monthly and monthly-1 energy indexes downloads in.txt format, downloads in.txt format, Instantaneous, average, min. and max. measurements downloads in.txt format, «History» menu(alarms) downloads in.txt format data recording, Partial, monthly and monthly-1 indexes, as well as measures resets, Passwords managing (user 2), Permissions managing user 2,

Page 3 of 13 Backup of changes, events,.txt files etc of a meter (traceability, history) on the PC, Setup of the parameters of communication for Acean Configuration, Software updating of the meter (loading a new version)*, Test of the connection "Com" History of events (changes made via the application) *The firmware is "flashable" without removing the product. This allows the update on site of the meter's firmware (bug fix or adding additional features), without generating additional costs of maintenance. Nota : This feature is not allowed on the models MID (MID compliance requirement). 3. Getting started 3.1 System requirements The minimum requirements is a Pentium II 400 Mhz. Installation requires 50 MB disk space. The application runs in 800x600 pixels. A 32-bit display is desirable. Acean Configuration is under Windows operating systems (200 SP3, NT, XP, Vista and W7) usable. 3.2 Software installation The software installation requires setup.exe and setup.msi files. To install, run setup.exe and follow the installation procedure. The installation creates a Acean Configuration shortcut on the Computer-desktop. 3.3 Application start-up Make a double click on the Acean Configuration shortcut to launch the application. Enter the password and finish by pressing the OK button. The default password is : 0000 The access to the application is secured by a 4-digit code. It can be modified by the system operator. The administrator access and changes to each meter are stored in a text file named "History". Caution : If USB/RS485 interface is not connected to the PC at the opening of Acean Configuration, a message appears on the screen. 3.4 Environment 3.4.1 Top horizontal strip The top strip is dedicated to managing Acean Configuration application settings and dissemination of information to all meters on the network.

Software version update of the selected meter Vertical strip hiding Remove selected meter 4. Using features 4.1 Addition of a meter The meters on the network have to be created one by one by assigning a Modbus address between 1 and 247 (adress 000 and adress range from 248 to 255 are reserved for other applications). Before adding a meter, check that the application communication parameters are identical to the network parameters.

Page 5 of 13 Select tab "COM" and set the application communication parameters: Modbus RTU or ACSII protocol communication port communication speed number of data bits parity number of stop bits Press OK to save Press the green cross "Add" Enter the Modbus address of the meter Add comments in "Description" Press the button "Add" Meter s data are downloaded and the meter identification label appears on the screen. With the tab "View" select the size of the label: Details, Normal, icon, 4.2 Change password
