NSC Driver Safety Training LIVE Defensive Driving Courses: INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course instructors are the core to our proven success and global recognition. They must then successfully complete the following elearning Instructor Certification Course units: Defensive Driving Course Foundation: Introduces defensive driving principles, reviews standards and regulations and discusses course-specific terminology. Defensive Driving Course Facilitation: Learn the instructor s role, responsibility and proper classroom management. Choice Theory: Read the book Choice Theory by William Glasser, MD, learn and apply Reality Therapy and Choice Theory techniques to help students identify and adopt new behaviors. This unit is only required for Alive at 25, Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving and Chronic Offender courses. ttttt 0 Defensive Driving Courses: INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION Get a closer look at our Certification Course, watch a 5-minute video nsc.org/instructor-demo We offer instructor-led driver safety courses ranging from 3 hours up to 8 hours in length. We provide various programs based on driver experience, skill level, driving behavior and vehicle type. Most importantly, we design our programs based on research and scientific data ensuring drivers learn practical safe driving techniques and behaviors. The Defensive Driving Course The NSC flagship driver safety program provides participants with comprehensive defensive driving knowledge and safe driving techniques. Instructors have the flexibility to teach the course in 4-, 6- or 8-hours. Professional Truck Driver 3- or 4-hour course addresses the most challenging and unsafe driving situations for truck drivers by emphasizing hazard recognition scenarios and real-life driving situations to enhance learner s experience and retention. Alive at 25 4-hour young adult program teaches learning-to-drive and newly licensed drivers how to take control of situations by taking responsibility for their driving behaviors. Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving and Chronic Offender (two separate courses) 8-hour advanced behavior-based courses for drivers with poor driving habits and risky driving behaviors, or those who have multiple traffic violations or had their license suspended. State Courts against Road Rage 4-hour program to educate and reduce recidivism among drivers charged with serious motor violations. The Instructor Resource Kit is required to complete the Certification Course. It includes your Instructor Manual, Multimedia Presentation, Participant Course Guide, Certificate of Completion, Reference Material and Administrative Guidelines and your first year of Instructor Certification. This may mean retaking the same test until the Candidate passes. Practice Teaching Within two weeks of the completion of the final module of the final unit required for Certification, the Training Center will receive the Candidate s DDC Credentials. The Training Center is to monitor at least two complete programs taught by the instructor prior to signing and issuing the Certificate to the new instructor. Revised 10/25/2018
