Page 2 Paper Catalog entry disappears When creating a new Paper Catalog entry from Command WorkStation by selecting New, do not highlight an existing Paper Catalog item created on the Fiery PRO 80. If you do, the new item you created in Command WorkStation disappears when you restart the Fiery PRO 80. Command WorkStation closes Command WorkStation, Windows Edition, randomly closes and displays a message saying that Command WorkStation must close. You can click Yes or No to re-open Command WorkStation. Printer drivers Creating Shortcuts Gang-up print and Booklet options are not available in Customized Basic View from the Basic icon in the Windows Vista and XP 64-bit printer drivers. Supply Level on Mac OS X The Supply Level tab under Options and Supplies on the Mac OS X v10.5 printer driver always displays Information Not Available, even if Two-Way Communication is enabled. Preview window in Mac OS X If a PDF document is opened with Preview on Mac OS X, and you select Fiery Features in the Fiery PRO 80 printer driver, OK and Cancel buttons are not visible. To show the OK and Cancel buttons, change the screen resolution, or hide the top header in the view menu. Print Page Border display The Print Page Border display in the Job View bitmap does not reflect the Print Page Border setting correctly. Watermarks on Point and Print printer drivers If you have a client Windows Vista or XP computer on which you have never installed the Fiery PRO 80 printer driver from the User Software DVD or the shared folder, installing the driver via Point and Print will not install the Default watermark options. However, you can edit, create, and delete watermarks. Unit for position of watermark changes In the Windows Vista printer driver, the unit for the y position of a watermark changes when Job Properties is re-opened.

Page 3 Printing Input Tray from application not supported Input Tray selection from page setup of an application is not supported. Specify the tray setting in the printer driver or Command WorkStation Job Properties. Minimum and Maximum sheets for Perfect Binder jobs Minimum and maximum number of sheets for Perfect Binder jobs is above 10 and below 300. The Fiery PRO 80 is capable of printing the maximum number of sheets for Perfect Binder jobs with Plain paper only. The copier has restrictions printing 300 sheets for colorspecific, high-quality, coated media types. The copier allows Perfect Binder jobs up to 150 sheets for color-specific, high-quality, coated media types. N-up jobs sent to Direct connection If you specify N-up in the Layout print setting and send the job to the Direct connection, the job prints 1-up. The job prints correctly if sent to the Print queue. Banner and poster printing The printer driver custom size range is 100 x 148mm to 330 x 1200mm. However, the actual maximum paper size the Fiery PRO 80 can print is 330 x 487mm. Consult your service representative about printing banners and posters. Web Connection Installing a SSL/TLS certificate When you attempt to install a SSL/TLS certificate for the first time in Web Connection on Internet Explorer v7.0, no certificate is installed and a blank screen is displayed. You can install the certificate by clicking the Continue to this web site (not recommended) link and then refreshing the page and going through the steps again. The certificate will not be blocked the second time, as long as the browser is not closed first. Device status icons When Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is updated to version 1.6.0_05 on Windows Vista or XP, device status icons on Web Connection may not display correctly. WebTools Preview in WebTools If you log in to the WebTool Docs tab as a guest, a preview of your job is not available. To see a preview of your job, you must log in with Operator or Administrator privileges.

Page 6 Color Management Print Gray using Black Only (CMYK) Contrary to the statement in Color Printing, it is necessary that C=M=Y=0 and K=n for Print Gray using Black Only to be enabled for CMYK grays. Installing profiles on Windows XP When you attempt to install Fiery RGB v5 color profiles on Windows XP, you may get an error message. Scanning Error messages on Remote Scan Remote Scan does not display error messages if there is a paper jam on the copier. For instance, if you scan from the copier glass, do not remove the document, and attempt to initiate the next scan from the automatic document feeder (ADF), no error is displayed in Remote Scan. Check Command WorkStation for error messages. Adobe Reader Quick Access view on Mac OS X In the Mac OS X v10.5 printer driver, Customize Quick Access View may not work correctly. Compose Font size setting for Compose If you open a job in Compose on Windows Vista, and the arrow button for the Select Pages dropdown menu is not displayed, check the Font Size setting for the operating system of the computer. The setting is found in ControlPanel\Personalization\Tasks\Adjust Font Size (DPI). It should be set to the default of 96 DPI. Anything higher may result in the disappearance of the button for the dropdown menu.

Page 7 Booklet Maker Spine width units in Summary When you specify a custom spine width in Booklet Maker, the Summary displays the value incorrectly. The spine width is displayed as number of points with the decimal point removed, although the unit name is displayed as either inch or millimeter. For example, if the spine width is specified as 1 inch, the Summary displays the spine width as 7200 inch. It should display as 72 points. Landscape booklet jobs on Mac OS X When you attempt to print an Adobe PDF file as a Booklet with Landscape orientation from Adobe Reader 8/Acrobat 8 on Power PC Mac OS X v10.4/v10.5, the following may occur: Binding positions may be incorrect on output. When you attempt to print an Adobe PDF file as a Booklet with Landscape orientation from Adobe Reader 8/Acrobat 8 on Intel Mac OS X v10.5, the following may occur: The first page image may be rotated on the output. As a workaround, specify Portrait as the Orientation in Page Setup in Adobe Reader 8/ Acrobat 8. When you attempt to print an Adobe PDF files as a Booklet with Landscape orientation on Intel Mac OS X v10.4, the job does not print and prompts an error message on Command WorkStation. As a workaround, specify Portrait as the Orientation in Page Setup of Adobe Reader 8/Acrobat 8. Staple job with multiple copies on Intel Mac OS X When you print an Adobe PDF file from Adobe Reader 8/Acrobat 8 on Intel Mac OS X v10.4/v10.5, a staple job with multiple copies results in output stapled together as one copy. As a workaround, import the PDF file into Command WorkStation, and specify the settings and other settings from Job Properties.

Page 8 Booklet Maker custom page sizes When specifying Booklet Maker custom page size dimensions, the Width must be greater than the Height for LEF jobs, and the Width must be less than the Height for SEF jobs. For example, a standard letter 8.5 x 11 job with a 12 x 18 inch Cover has the following settings: Body = 8.5 x 11 LEF (Width 8.5, Height 11) with Cover = 12 x 18 (Width 18, Height 12). If this seems contradictory, it is because the Cover must be printed SEF due to its large size. The same logic applies to jobs that are SEF. For a custom page size supported by the 1-up Perfect Bind finisher in which LEF and SEF are both possible, the following table describes the relationship between the following: Document orientation Product intent: Left, Right, Top edge binding Paper feed direction: LEF, SEF Document orientation Document orientation binding edge LEF/SEF How to define custom page size Portrait Left LEF W > H Right LEF W > H Top SEF W < H

Page 9 Document orientation Document orientation binding edge LEF/SEF How to define custom page size Landscape Left SEF W < H Right SEF W < H Top LEF W > H Outside back cover text is not centered with perfect binding If you print a cover as As Spread, the outside front cover, spine, and outside back cover are printed on the same sheet of paper. Booklet Maker approximates the width of the spine based on the number of pages in the booklet, the media type, and media weight. Therefore, the spine width may not be correct for the particular booklet you are printing. This causes the outside cover width to creep onto the spine width. If this occurs, increase the overall width of the cover by a small amount (for example, ½-inch) and allow the copier to trim the excess.
