Minimizer Kiosk Instructions Pi 3 Model 1
This guide will help you set up a Minimizer Kiosk and connect it to the Internet. For assembly, make sure you have the correct tools and items. The Minimizer Kiosk Package A Screwdriver A USB Keyboard A Wifi Network Internet Connection A Pi 3 Micro Computer installed. Step 1 Set up the kiosk Fully assemble the kiosk with sides, lit rack, counter weight and TV 2
Step 2 Plug in cables to the pi unit Plug in the required cables (power cable and HDMI Cable) to the Raspberry Pi unit. Once both cables are plugged in securely give the Kiosk Unit and TV power by turning on the power strip. If the Kiosk Unit does not power on, make sure you have the correct cables plugged in. 3
Step 3 Attach pi to kiosk Once everything is confirmed and working, attach the pi unit to the kiosk using supplied screws. Step 4 - Hooking up a Keyboard Plug in the USB keyboard dongle into the Pi unit. {Use any available USB port}. Once the keyboard is plugged in, there s a yellow light on the keyboard that will turn blue after about 1 minute, that light will go away indicating that it s now connected to the pi unit. Once connected, press the stop key located on the upper left side of the keyboard. 4
Next hit the ESC key twice. This action will pop up a menu bar in the middle of the TV screen. 5
Menu Bar If pressing the ESC key on the Keyboard does nothing on the kiosk computer, then try another available USB port on the unit. If the Kiosk Unit is still not responding after trying another USB port reboot the system by turning off or unplugging the kiosk and re-plugging it back in. Step 5 - In the Menu 6
Using the Arrow Keys on the right side of the keyboard to navigate the menu, select the System tab. Then select the LibreELEC sub-tab and press enter on your keyboard 7
Step 6 - LibreELEC and Adding Wifi Then in the LibreELEC settings tab, use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll down to Network then over to Wireless Networks Active hit ok on your keyboard. This will deactivate wireless networks. Next re-activate the networks by hitting ok again. {Essentially, we re resetting the wireless networks by turning them off and back on again}. 8

networks. Once there, wait up to one minute for the computer to find available Using the right arrow key, go to the wifi connections tab, on the right side. Next, select the available wifi network for that workplace and press OK. Then highlight connect and then press OK again to be brought to the Wireless Network Passphrase tab. Next, enter in the network password for that workplace. When done make sure Done is highlighted on the onscreen keyboard and press OK. 10
If the kiosk is unable to connect to the internet, double check the internet/wifi password. If the kiosk unit is unable to detect any networks nearby after a couple of minutes, reboot the kiosk unit. Step 7 - Checking the Wifi Once the WIFI has been set up, check the connection by seeing if there is an IP-address under the WIFI Hostname in the connections tab. If you see an IP address within a minute then you re all good! Go ahead and reboot the kiosk by turning the powerstrip off Wait 10 seconds for everything to shut down -- and then turning it back on. If the kiosk is unable to connect to the internet, double check the internet/wifi password. 11
If the kiosk unit is unable to detect any networks nearby after a couple of minutes, reboot the kiosk unit. Step 8 - Final Step When the device powers back up hit the esc key twice on the keyboard. Using your arrow keys, scroll to System then System Info. At this point, you ll want to call Paul Master (cell 507-676-3128) and verify with him that he sees the kiosk on his end. Paul will need: Pi Unit Serial # (Located on the pi unit itself and/or the pi unit box) Location city, state Location company name **If Paul is unavailable, make sure to email that info to him - master@minimizer.com Lastly, unplug the USB keyboard and lock up the inside of the kiosk. You have successfully installed a Minimizer Showroom Kiosk! **It s important that you show the parts manager (or similar) that the kiosk is motion activated sound. There have been times that a distributor doesn t know how to turn on the sound or adjust the volume. Show them they can use the remote 12
control for volume adjustments and simply wave in front of the sensor to activate the sound. Let them know the kiosk will automatically update videos at night so be on the lookout for new videos. The kiosk also sends a heath report each night so if it s unplugged or turned off, we ll know about it and they should expect a phone call or visit.
