VPN Connection - Instructional Document
INTRODUCTION PPTP or "Point to Point Tunneling Protocol" allows your computer to connect to the Pelco s Partner Integration Lab and access resources that are only available to users that are behind the firewall. These instructions will help you set up PPTP to connect to the Pelco s Partner Integration Lab with the following settings: Server Address: 12.104.148.196 Account Name: Username Password: Password
SETTING UP PPTP 1. Click the Start Menu and select the Control Panel (Figure 1). Figure 1: Start Menu>> Control Panel 2. In order to follow along with the figures in this document, you will need to make sure that your Control Panel is in Classic View. You can switch to Classic View temporarily by clicking on the Switch to Classic View link on the left side of the Control Panel (Figure 2). NOTE: If you see "Switch to Category View", you are already using Classic View. At any time you may return to Category View by clicking on the link in the left side of your Control Panel. Figure 2: Classic View 3. Once you are in Classic View you will need to double-click on the Network Connections icon in Control Panel (Figure 3).
Figure 3: Control Panel 4. Now click Create new connection, which is located on the left side in the Network Tasks category (Figure 4). Figure 4: Create New Connection 5. When you click on this link you will start the New Connection Wizard. Click Next (Figure 5).

7. Select Virtual Private Network connection, then click Next (Figure 7). Figure 7: Select VPN connection 8. You will need to enter a name for the connection. Type a connection name in the space provided and click Next (Figure 8).
Figure 8: Type Your Connection Name 9. Select Do not dial the initial connection, then click Next (Figure 9). NOTE: This step does not apply for every machine configuration. If you do not see this screen, skip to the next step.

11. Select connection availability, then click Next (Figure 11). NOTE: This step does not apply for every machine configuration. If you do not see this screen, skip to the next step. Figure 11: Select Connection Availability 12. Finally, you can choose to add a shortcut on your desktop if you like. 13. Click Finish and your connection will be setup (Figure 12).

CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK 1. First you will need to double-click on your connection shortcut (either on your desktop or under the Network Connections control panel, Figure 13). Figure 13: Network Connection Shortcut 2. Next, enter your pelco provided username, which will be your NetID and your pelco provided password. 3. Click Connect (Figure 14). Figure 14: Enter Your Username and Password 4. Next, you will see the connection dialog and it should connect successfully. When you are successfully connected you will see the network connection icon in the taskbar (Figure 15).
