Overview is easy to install, easy to use and easy to manage backup and recovery software for HP ProLiant servers. It is an extension of the ProLiant solution available at zero incremental cost to HP ProLiant users. It provides protection for a single HP Proliant system running Windows or Linux by backing up data to disk and/or CD/DVD. Note that this QuickSpec covers Data Protector Express ProLiant Edition. Separate exist for Data Protector Express and Data Protector Express Single Server Edition. Once the upgrade has been purchased and installed, the Data Protector Express options and functional extensions can be added to improve performance, protect online applications and execute network backups. As a general rule, if your system meets the minimum requirements for the operating system, it will also meet the minimum system requirements for Data Protector Express. However, for better performance, we recommend that your system meets or exceeds the operating system's recommended requirements. For example, Windows XP Professional requires a 233 MHz Pentium or Celeron family or AMD-K6, AMD Athlon or AMD Duron family processor, 64MB of RAM and 1.5GB of available hard disk space. But Microsoft recommends a 300 MHz processor and 128MB of RAM. If the software is acquired from the ProLiant System Management Homepage, it is recommended that the instruction on the Protect Your Data page are followed to acquire the License Key before installation. The License Key is then entered during the installation process. If the software is acquired from hp.com, then the License Key must be acquired after installation.
