SITE BRIEF Project overview A complete redesign of our client s website, My Backyard Farmer. We will give the site a new look and feel to better represent the client s services. The site content will be easier for the user to navigate and provide information. Existing site critique Content Home, About Us, What We Provide, Produce List, Questionnaire, Additional Services, Photos - Gardens, Contact Us Information architecture Organized by topic and navigation labels. Technical features The existing site lacks any technical features. Visual design Noisy background Small images Different text alignment Overall User Experience The website includes very useful information. The layout of the content is disorganized and makes it hard for a viewer to follow. New site proposal Description and timeline Redesign the My Backyard Farmer website. The timeline for the project is to have it started by October 19 and ready by Nov. 6. Site goals and measurement The updated design of the website should give clear information for the user. The new look will have less text and more visual images of the services provided. With this in mind, we hope to target new users to the site who want to have a garden of their own. Target audience The audience would be a person who is interested in living a healthy and organic lifestyle. Typically around the age of 18 and over. It should incorporate colors from the company s logo along with more natural colors following fruits and vegetables. Gardenia Flower Technical Profile Gardenia knows the basics of a computer enough to send e-mails to her friends and update her Facebook page. Gardenia likes to see images of the service/ product in order to know what she can look forward to. If possible, reviews from other customers are helpful as well. COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS Farmscape The site texts follows the colors in their logo which are green, orange, and a mix of red/yellow. The homepage uses a carousel of photos showing their work. Followed by two other carousels showing their installation process and how they maintain the gardens. Pine House Edible Gardens The gallery page is their homepage. More of a portfolio of the work that they have done by using a simple 3x3 grid of imagery. Classic white background with black text to let the images stand out. Urban Farmgirls The website s colors are neutral colors with accents of orange. More textural images such as marble and granite. Big hero images of plants.
