Carestream Vita user quick guide Software version 3.2 from April 2012 1. To switch your Vita on Press the power button on the PC and the power button on the back right of the processor unit (next to where the mains power lead plugs in.) Both parts must be turned on for the software to function. The software will then automatically load. Input the User name and Password that BCF provided. The first page that you see is the database called Exam and allows you to search for existing patients, and to input new patients. This page is used for entering patient details and searching for patients too. 2
2. Entering Patient Details Click onto and fill in the boxes that are named in red. Then click You are now ready to take an image. 3. Acquiring an Image Use the cassette the same as you use a film cassette, with the grey side towards the patient. Choose the body part you have taken from the drop down menus along the top of the page. You can choose multiple body parts before you begin processing cassettes. Just ensure that the view you have just taken is highlighted in red before you process the cassette. 3
Insert the cassette grey side up, lining the red arrow to the red arrow, push the cassette in until it stops and you hear the machine begin to process the cassette. Do not attempt to pull the cassette out while the machine is processing it. On the bottom left corner of the monitor the system will tell you what it is doing. Once the scan is complete you can either Accept the images if you are happy with it, Also by pressing complete. you can add exposure factors to your image, this box will appear for you to Simply type in your kv and mas and then hit OK. If you want to alter the image press This takes you through to the reprocessing screen where you can make lots of changes to your image. 4
On the right side of the screen there are different tabs that you can go between, which provide you with different functions. Allows you to alter the masking on the image, and to alter the name of the body part if you need to. Allows you to alter the brightness and contrast and magnify the image, once the image is magnified you can pan the image to see all of it. Allows you to add text, (which you can move around the image and resize) and rotate and flip the image Allows you to import the raw data 5
Once you have made all the changes that you want just hit Accept, or you can hit Back to return to take more images. 4. Reviewing images After you have taken all your images you can either continue on to the next patient by pressing Exam. Or press Viewer to review your images Once you are in the viewer you have a selection of small images on the left side of the screen, (in Thumbnails) simply double click on one to load it into the main window. Then click onto the image to make it live and you can then use any of the button along the top to manipulate the image 6
5. Burning Images to CD/DVD There are multiple ways to do this For a old patient Search for them on the Exam page To search for them click into the top of the name column- and it will turn white to enable you to search. Once you have found your patient their images will be listed at the bottom of the page. Click on the left hand boxes to choose the images for that patient that you want to burn to disc Then click onto Burn Media. The screen will change to the view screen and a window will open showing all of the images will be imported onto the disc ready to burn. 7
Simply press here to burn the disc/ The blue bar along the bottom shows you how full your CD is. Current patient For a patient who you are currently Viewing click onto, select New from the menu that appears and them drag and drop the images that you want into the box that appears (same as above.) Then again click the green tick disc icon 6. Saving images to email You will need a memory stick to take the images off of the Vita. When in the viewer have the image you want to export as a J-Peg in the main box and click onto then select Export image. You will then get a window open up, simply find your memory stick and name the images, remembering to select JPEG In the Save as type box. Then hit Save. 8
7. Saving DICOMS to Memory stick In the Exam Page locate the patient and choose the images you want then click onto Send To from the drop down menu choose Group images. A window will open, locate your memory stick. You will have the option then to anonymise the images if you want. This will save the images into a folder called Group Images on your memory stick. This can be a slow process due to the size of the DICOMS. 8. Searching for a patient s picture From the front Exam page search for the patient by clicking into the grey area at the top of the name. Then once you have found your patient, select the images that you want to view and then click onto Send To. A menu will appear. Choose Viewer, and you images will be imported into the viewer. 9. Turning the system off Select Exit from the bottom right corner of the acquisition screen. Then select shutdown, this will then shut the PC down. If you are in the viewer screen you will need to click onto exit to get back to the acquisition or Exam pages to then exit the software. To turn the processor- off first ensure there is no cassette in the processor. Turn the Processor off by the switch on the back. 9
