I. Introduction Thank you for choosing intercom product. FM-804 is a eight channel four wire matrix control station, the maximum can constitute 9 points full-duplex distributed intercom system, if coupled with four wire extension unit, it can reach 17 points. FM-804 main station is suitable for television station, communication center, UB truck, live performance and any other environment which requires communication. We recommend you read through this manual to better understand the functions of FM-804. This system adopts wired connection, and has following features, stable and reliable performance, flexible configuration, full-duplex communication, clear and loud communication sound, easy operation, and strong noise resistance. II. Basic operations Front Panel 1. Panel Mic Connector 6.35mm unbalanced microphone jack. The microphone type can be dynamic or electric. The definition of 6.35mm plug is as follow: 1

Microphone Select Switch Microphone select switch is used to select panel microphone or headset microphone. 4. ANN. Button Send the activated microphone signal to ANN. Out connector which is at rear panel. 5. Talk With Button(Talk/Talk LED) Button 1~8 corresponds to 1~8 channel. Press the talk button activates the corresponding channel. the embedded LED will light, the call signal will be cut down when loosing the button, and the light will turn off.. Button Operation: Press the button, connecting the circuit, release the button,disconnecting the circuit; quick double-click, the circuit self-locking,press again,the circuit unlocking. 6. Speaker The Speaker Switch turns the front panel speaker on or off. 2
7. Power (Power/Power LED) This red LED will light when power supply switch is on.. 8. Program Level Control Adjust program audio (background audio) level which goes into FM-804 by clockwise or counterclockwise direction 9. Program Feed To Turn the switch on or off will send the external signal into intercom channels. ON: When the switch is turned on, the LED at the right side will light. All the channels which are set always receive external program signal. OFF: When the switch is turned off, the LED at the right side will be off. External program signal cannot be sent into system. INT: All the channels receive external program signal. It will be interrupted when talk switch is turned on. 10. Program Feed To LED This LED lights when Program Feed to switch handle is placed at On and Int. 11. Listen Button Button 1~8 corresponds to 1~8 channel. Press the listen button to hear from the corresponding channel. The LED embedded in will light. Button Operation: Press the button, connecting the circuit, release the button,disconnecting the circuit; quick double-click, the circuit self-locking, press once again, the circuit unlocking. 12. Listen Level Control Use this control to adjust the audio level which heard from FM-804 headset or panel speaker by clockwise or counterclockwise direction. 13. Program Listen Level Control Adjust program audio (background audio) level which listened from panel speaker or headset, by clockwise or counterclockwise direction. 14. Panel Mic Gain It is used to adjust the panel microphone gain. It has preset with electrets microphone. 3
15. Function DIP Setting 9 digits dipper has following settings: DIP1 - DIP8 (Program Feed into): On: Enable background program signal sent to Intercom channel Off: Disable background program signal sent to Intercom channel DIP9 (Call on Talk) On: Enable auto call function. When Talk switch is turned on, it automatically turned on the called channel Listen function and sent a continuous flash. The call and called channel listen light will flash continuously until the talk switch is turned off. Off: Disable auto call function. When Talk switch is turned on, It does not affect the called channel Listen function and Listen light. 16. Intercom Line connector RJ-45 connector. The pin out of connectors is as follows: (EIA 568B). Pin 1 --- Audio Output - (White Orange); Pin 2 --- Audio Output + (Orange); Pin 3 --- (White Green); Pin 4 --- Control Signal (Blue); Pin 5 --- Control Signal (White Blue); Pin 6 --- (Green); Pin 7 --- Audio Input + (White Brown); Pin 8 ---; Audio Input (Brown); Audio Send- Audio Send+ RJ45 Port Connector on First FM-804 Frame Audio Receive+ Audio Receive- RJ45 Port Connector on Second FM-804 Frame Audio Send- Audio Send+ Audio Receive+ Audio Receive- 4

Program Input The external program signal is sent into intercom line through this connector when Program Feed To Switch is turned on. XLR-3F connector accepts balanced signal. Pin out is as follow: Pin 1 --- (Shield) Pin 2 --- + Audio Pin 3 --- - Audio 18. Announce Out This connector is a XLR-3M. It sent microphone audio signal out through this connector. The output is balanced signal. The pin out is as follows: Pin 1 --- (Shield) Pin 2 --- +Audio Pin 3 --- -Audio 19. Input Channel Gain Adjustment This knob is used to adjust the channel gain to match the input audio level. Note: The potentiometer W5 which located at right bottom of circuit board can adjust the channel output level. To adjust the output level, the station top cover needs to be removed. Turns potentiometer W5 by clock-wise direction with screw driver. The output level of channel 1-8 changes at same time. The output level is 0dBv by factory set. 5
20. Extension Connector (DB9) The definition of connector is as follow Pin 1 --- Audio Output Pin 2 --- Digital Earth Pin 3 --- Control Signal Pin 4 --- 12V Analog Power Pin 5 --- Audio input Pin 6 --- Analog Earth Pin 7 --- Program Audio In Pin 8 --- 12V Digital Power Pin 9 --- Analog Earth 21. DC Power Input Input Voltage: 16V-24V, Electric Current: Less than 800mA 22. Ground Terminal The Ground wire connects to terminal Note: Please be sure to connect ground well for the personal safety and devices working. III:Troubleshooting Problem Cause Solution Power LED wink Short circuit inside Send them to dealer for repairing 1 High DC resistance at cable end. 2 Headset cables are not well connected Excessive crosstalk Hum or Buzz channel volume is too light or distortion 1 Without connecting to ground or bad earthing 2. Inductive pickup caused by close proximity of this main station or connected remote stations to power lines or transformers. 3. Intercom line cable is not wired properly; the shield of microphone cable is not connect -ed to Pin-1 of 3-XLR. Outside signal level too small or too large 1 Press and connect the RJ-45 plug again 2 Check and connect again 1 Do earthing well 2 Relocate the offending unit. 3. rewire or change the cable. Adjust input level at the rear panel. 6
