Through the ipassconnect mobility manager software client, this ipass Mobile Broadband card will provide you with reliable, high-speed wireless connectivity on the move. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS Notebook PC with Type II PC Card slot (CardBus) ipassconnect 3.41 or higher Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista Administrative privileges to install new software GlobeTrotter GT MAX HSUPA card (Model: GX 301) SIM card which is inserted in the ipass Mobile Broadband card Note: No CD is necessary for the installation. The required GlobeTrotter Connect software is installed from the card itself Note: This process requires the system to be restarted To install and configure your ipass Mobile Broadband card for use with ipassconnect, please follow these simple steps. INSTALLING YOUR CARD AND CARD SOFTWARE The ipassconnect software should already be installed on your laptop. If not, please contact your IT Help Desk or ipass Service Provider. You can install ipassconnect before or after you install your ipass Mobile Broadband card. Note: Your SIM was activated before it was shipped. There is no need to activate the SIM Warning: Close all Windows programs, including ipassconnect. To exit, right click the ipassconnect system tray icon and choose Disconnect & Exit. ipass Mobile Broadband Service Installation Guide ipass.com 3

1. Insert your ipass Mobile Broadband card (with inserted SIM) into the PCMCIA card slot on your computer. If the Windows autorun feature is enabled on your machine, the installation will automatically start. If not, navigate to the newly created CD drive and double click Start.bat 2. The Setup of GlobeTrotter Connect will start, and may take several minutes 3. Click Finish on the window indicating the successful installation of GlobeTrotter Connect. The GlobeTrotter Connect software will launch 4. Click OK if the following screen appears 5. Click the Close button on GlobeTrotter Connect When using your ipass Mobile Broadband card, the butterfly antenna must be deployed. To deploy the butterfly antenna: While the card is inserted into the computer, press your finger against the edge of the card, then release. To stow the butterfly antenna: Gently lower the top half of the butterfly down and push it all the way into the storage slot in the card. CONFIGURING THE CARD SOFTWARE FOR COMPATIBILITY WITH ipassconnect To ensure compatibility with ipassconnect, please follow the easy steps below to remove GlobeTrotter Connect from the Startup folder Note: There may be other programs listed in your Startup group. Do not delete those other programs Note: Deleting GlobeTrotter Connect from the Startup group does not un-install the software. It only prevents the software from automatically launching when Windows starts 1. Right-click on the Globetrotter Connect icon on your desktop and select Delete (as shown) 2. In the resulting Confirm Shortcut Delete window, click Delete Shortcut 3. On the Windows Start bar, select Start, then Programs, then Startup, then GlobeTrotter Connect 4. Right click on the entry for GlobeTrotter Connect and select Delete from the resulting menu (as shown) 5. In the resulting Confirm Shortcut Delete window, click Delete Shortcut 6. CONNECTING TO MOBILE BROADBAND NETWORKS You can now use the ipassconnect mobility manager for all your mobile broadband connections. ipassconnect will detect the Mobile Broadband network available to you (if you re in a network coverage area) and display it under Available Networks (as shown). ipass Mobile Broadband Service Installation Guide ipass.com 6

To connect to the Mobile Broadband network, double click on the network Note: If you insert your ipass Mobile Broadband card after the ipassconnect software has been launched it may take up to 20 seconds to recognise the card. If the card is not detected, you can take either of these actions to force ipassconnect to search for your card. 1. Exit and restart ipassconnect or 2. Go to Settings, select Connection Settings, then select the Mobile Data tab, and click the Refresh button If you experience any problems during the installation process, these useful tips may help. If you require further assistance, please contact your IT Help Desk or ipass Service Provider. CONFIGURING ipassconnect FOR THE ipass MOBILE BROADBAND SERVICE UK As a user of the ipass Mobile Broadband Service, you may need to specify the correct APN as indicated below. 1. Ensure that your ipass Mobile Broadband card is inserted into the computer and that the GlobeTrotter Connect software is not running. If it is running, the GlobeTrotter Connect software icon will appear in the system tray. Ensure that the GlobeTrotter Connect software has been removed from your Startup group as per the instructions on page 7 and that you have restarted your computer 2. Click Network Information In the Access Point Name (APN) field, please ensure the following text is inserted: data.uk (as shown in Figure 2 above) ipass Mobile Broadband Service Installation Guide ipass.com 8

ipassconnect DOES NOT RECOGNISE YOUR ipass MOBILE BROADBAND CARD If ipassconnect is not recognising your ipass Mobile Broadband card: Ensure that the GlobeTrotter Connect software is not running If GlobeTrotter Connect is running, the GlobeTrotter Connect icon will appear in the system tray Ensure that GlobeTrotter Connect is not in your Startup group then restart your computer Verify that ipassconnect has been enabled to recognise Mobile Broadband cards: 1. Ensure that the GlobeTrotter Connect software is not running (see page 10) 2. Launch the ipassconnect mobility manager 3. Choose Settings, then Update ipassconnect, then Phonebook. (Allow some time for the phonebook update to complete) 4. Choose Settings, then Connection Settings and confirm there is a Mobile Data tab (as shown) If the Mobile Data tab is not available, please contact your IT Help Desk 5. Click on the Mobile Data tab, then click the Refresh button. This should populate the information in the window (as shown in figure 1 on previous page) If the information does not populate, or if it reports errors in the fields, your ipass Mobile Broadband card may not be installed correctly i. In the computer s Control Panel, use the Add or Remove Programs function and remove the program GlobeTrotter Connect ii. Reinstall your ipass Mobile Broadband card. Please refer to page 3 for details. REMOVING YOUR ipass MOBILE BROADBAND CARD FROM YOUR COMPUTER Warning: Always use the procedure outlined here to remove your ipass Mobile Broadband card from your computer. Removing the card improperly may cause serious damage to the card or the integrity of the software on your computer. To remove your ipass Mobile Broadband card: 1. Exit ipassconnect, right click on the System Tray icon and select Disconnect & Exit 2. After ipassconnect is closed, in the System Tray, double click the Safely Remove Hardware icon ipass Mobile Broadband Service Installation Guide ipass.com 9

3. Right click On the Safely Remove Hardware options, then select the entry with the name GlobeTrotter Mobile Device then click Stop 4. On the Stop a Hardware Device dialog, select the GlobeTrotter Mobile Device again and click OK 5. When the Safe to Remove Hardware dialog is displayed, you may now remove your ipass Mobile Broadband card from your computer USING AND STORING YOUR ipass MOBILE BROADBAND CARD As with any electronic device, your ipass Mobile Broadband card must be handled with care to ensure reliable operation.
