5g will rock the world 5G Will Shock The World 1

Seize the opportunity. We are witnessing the birth of the 5G era, a time of both disruption and opportunity. Customer broadband is increasing rapidly as new applications and devices are fueling bandwidth demand among consumers and businesses. By 2022, total mobile data traffic will exceed 70 ExaBytes per month, which is equivalent to a single person streaming HD video for 3.5 million years. Meanwhile, traditional revenue streams for operators are slowing. 5G promises solutions to both of these challenges. To meet increasing demand, 5G will bring expanded bandwidth and improved reliability. With new capabilities such as network slicing and lower latency, it will open new pathways for business growth. Get out in front on 5G 5G isn t simply a small step up from 4G. It s a giant leap in terms of speed and capability. 2020 sounds far in the future but it s just a blink away and 5G developments will happen fast. To be successful in the market, it helps to have the first mover advantage. Ericsson has been at work with partners across industries to get ahead on 5G. > > We joined with AT&T to be the first to achieve speeds of up to 14 gigabits per second > > We tested the limits of 5G with Verizon by demonstrating multi-gigabit speeds and super-low latency inside a moving car > > We conducted the first multi-vehicular 5G trials with SK Telecom and BMW > > We showcased the first 5G drone with China Mobile > > We initiated a 5G motorway project with a cross-industry consortium in Germany And that s just the beginning. This year, we announced the market s first complete 5G radio system and the first version of an end-to-end core network capable of 5G use cases based on network slices. And we launched a 5G core network that can now be connected to a 5G NR radio. Ericsson and our partners are pushing the technology and business cases forward to make sure that all the components are in place for the 5G platform and that businesses are ready to capture their fair share of a potentially huge opportunity. 2 5G Will Shock The World

5G is coming, ready or not. Choose ready. To seize these future opportunities, operators must lay the groundwork now. They must make significant, thoughtful investments in 5G networks, business development, go-to-market models and organizational models. The 5G transformation has already started. It is an incremental process, enhancing the current network in a step-by-step fashion across multiple domains, including wireless access, transport, cloud, applications and management. For many operators, virtualization of the core network and management automation are well underway in preparation for 5G. With a virtualized core, the 5G architecture will not only be cost-efficient to operate, it will have the agility and flexibility for the swift introduction of services. These properties are required to enable new business models that can rapidly generate new revenue opportunities. Network slicing is key to delivering these differentiated offerings, as it provides each use case a virtual slice of the network with just the right level of connectivity. Ericsson is making it easier for operators to evolve their networks for a 5G future with Ericsson 5G Plug- Ins, software-driven innovations that bring key 5G technology concepts to today s mobile networks. With 5G Plug-Ins, operators can start evolving their networks to support new 5G technology concepts while continuing to invest in their LTE networks. 5G will encompass an evolution of today s 4G networks with the addition of a new, globally standardized radio access technology known as NR, which stands for New Radio. Ericsson introduced the industry s first 5G NR-capable radio, which is designed for compatibility with the 5G NR standard while also supporting LTE. This means operators can get ready for 5G while enhancing the LTE technology that will be foundational to their 5G networks and business. 5G Will Shock The World 3

5G promises to transform everything, including your bottom line. The 5G era will open the way for organizations to move into new markets and build new revenue streams. It will enable radically new business models and use cases in IoT, industrial automation, smart agriculture, virtual and augmented reality, smart cities, remote healthcare, automated threat detection and applications we have yet to discover. USD 582 Ericsson research shows that by taking on roles as not just network developers but service enablers and service creators, operators could capture an additional 34 percent revenue, or approximately USD 582 billion, from 5G-enabled industry digitalization opportunities in 2026. In short, 5G will make your network fast. And your business formidable. in 5G-enabled industry digitization opportunities in 2026 4 5G Will Shock The World

What s it take to make 5G real? Partnership. 5G is a huge step forward but operators don t have to undertake the journey alone. We invite you to explore the 5G world with us and seize the opportunity that awaits you. Connect with Ericsson to learn more about opportunities for collaboration with Ericsson on the road to 5G. 5G Will Shock The World 5
