SUMMARY This deliverable provides an overview of the D4Science production infrastructure, i.e. the set of hardware and software resources deployed to provide D4Science user communities with a high quality production service. It updates deliverable DSA1.1a and plans the deployment of the infrastructure for the second year of the project. In particular, the deliverable updates on the procedures that are being exploited for the deployment and maintenance of the infrastructure. Moreover, it describes the different roles responsible for the execution of such procedures and the tools exploited. The deliverable also covers the resources allocated to the production infrastructure by presenting detailed information about the hardware currently allocated to the infrastructure and the plans for new resources until the end of the project. Page 4 of 6

DELIVERABLE DOCUMENTATION The objective of the D4Science Service Activity is to make available and maintain a stable infrastructure to support the activities of the project user communities: Environment Monitoring (EM) and Fishery and Aquaculture Resource Management (FARM). This production infrastructure must provide efficient support for communities activities and run tested and stable software components. By building on the results of the DILIGENT [1] and EGEE-II [2] projects, the D4Science production infrastructure enables the creation of Virtual Research Environments (VREs) dedicated to support the activities of the EM and FARM user communities. To efficiently coordinate the operation of the infrastructure, and consequently provide a high-quality service, a dedicated web site has been set up for this activity [3]. This web site gathers all relevant information related to the management and operation of the production infrastructure. Due to its nature, the site is expected to evolve until the end of the project as to reflect the upgrades needed to maintain the infrastructure up and running. Being based on a Wiki tool, the site allows an active and efficient collaboration between the partners involved. This deliverable is therefore hosted in the wiki site presented above. In particular, DSA1.1b focus on the following aspects: (1) the description of the major infrastructure milestones, (2) the presentation of the hardware resources available and planned until the end of the project, (3) the overall procedures needed to manage the production infrastructure (the detailed description of such procedures and support tools is done in deliverables DSA1.2a and DSA1.2b Middleware Deployment and Operational Support Procedures ), and (4) the roles and tools associated to the infrastructure management and operational procedures. These topics are organized in three main sections as grouped in: https://infrastructure.wiki.d4science.research-infrastructures.eu/production/index.php/dsa1.1b 1. Overview: provides an overview of the D4Science production infrastructure by referring to the infrastructure providers and user communities and introducing the different topics covered in the wiki site (deployment plan and procedures); 2. Deployment Plan: explains the overall planning of the infrastructure regarding the resources allocated/planned and the major milestones of the infrastructure; 3. Roles and Procedures: defines the roles needed to manage and operate the infrastructure by listing all procedures associated to such roles and the tools used to support the execution of the procedures. To improve the access to the wiki site content, links to the sections presented above can be found in a panel situated on the left side of the wiki site. Page 5 of 6
