Getting Started Your VIB 10/11 plays audio from your Garmin GPS navigator through your vehicle s speakers. When you are navigating a route, the VIB 10/11 mutes the stereo s audio and plays the navigation prompts through your speakers. If a mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology is connected to the GPS navigator, calls are heard through the vehicle s speakers. Updating the GPS Navigator Software To operate the GPS navigator with the VIB, you need to update the GPS navigator s software. 1. Go to www.garmin.com/products /webupdater and download WebUpdater to your computer. 2. Connect the GPS navigator to your computer using the mini- USB cable. 3. Run WebUpdater, and follow the screen prompts. After confirming that you want to perform an update, WebUpdater automatically downloads the update and installs it on your GPS navigator. Mounting Your GPS Navigator 1. Plug the power cable from the VIB into the power connector on the GPS navigator or cradle. ➊ ➋ 2. Align the ball on the mount with the socket on the GPS navigator or cradle. 3. Snap the GPS navigator or cradle onto the ball socket. Refer to your GPS navigator s documentation for more information. Audio Output The VIB mutes or pauses the vehicle s stereo output to sound the navigation prompts or phone calls. If the VIB HiFi audio source was connected to your radio s auxiliary input (optional), you can play MP3s on your GPS navigator and hear the MP3s over your vehicle s speakers. You may need to select the appropriate audio source on the stereo to hear the MP3s. Refer to your stereo s manual. Viewing Video Do not attempt to operate or watch video input while operating a vehicle. Driver operation or viewing of video input while the vehicle is moving could cause an accident or collision resulting in property damage, serious injury, or death. Controlling the Volume The VIB allows you to set the volume on your GPS navigator independently of your stereo. Control your stereo volume as you normally would. Adjust the volume on your GPS navigator as you normally would as well. Using FM Traffic (VIB 11 Only) Your VIB 11 has an integrated FM TMC traffic receiver that receives traffic information broadcast over the FM Radio Data System. Note: Garmin is not responsible for the accuracy of the traffic information. The FM traffic receiver simply receives signals from the traffic service provider and shows that information on your GPS navigator. VIB 10/11 Reference Guide
The power cable must be plugged into your GPS navigator to receive traffic data. You must be in data range of an FM station transmitting TMC (Traffic Message Channel) data to receive traffic information. For coverage areas, refer to the Garmin Web site at www.garmin.com/traffic. Adding a Subscription You can purchase additional subscriptions and renew your subscription if it expires. Go to www.garmin.com/fmtraffic. Follow the instructions on the Web site to purchase and add the new subscription. You can also refer to your GPS navigator s owner s manual for specific instructions on adding a subscriptions The traffic subscription code cannot be reused. You must obtain a new code each time you renew your service. If you own multiple FM traffic receivers, you must obtain a new code for each receiver. Note: You do not need to activate the subscription included with your VIB 11 (if it came with one). Your GPS navigator receives traffic data as soon as it acquires satellite signals and receives traffic signals from the traffic service provider. VIB 10/11 Reference Guide

(and its subsidiaries), and their suppliers make no representations about content, traffic and road conditions, route usability, or speed. Garmin and its Traffic Service Provider(s) make no warranty of fitness or compatibility of the traffic data with the Garmin product and no warranty that the traffic data will operate properly as integrated and interfaced with the Garmin product.
