MOODLE GUIDELINE FOR INSTRUCTOR Understand n hw t access Mdle Once given a username and passwrd yu can lg in the system thrugh the fllwing steps. 1. G t elms.ut.ac.tz r yu can pen the University website www.ut.ac.tz and then click n the icn Student/Staff access, n the windw that will appear select OUT-E-learning icn. By using any f the prcedures abve it will pen OUTLeMS Lgin page as shwn in the screensht belw 2. Fill in yur Username and Passwrd, and click n Lgin. This will take yu int the site hme page. Hw t find curses in Mdle Once yu are lgged in yu will see a list f all Faculties and Institutes and when yu click n either f thse links yu will be directed t departmental level all the way dwn t a specific Curse. This will shw all curses available in particular department including the ne which assigned as teacher and thers which yu dn t have permissin

t access them. But t view curses which yu have been assigned as a Teacher Click n either My Hme r My Curses which is available n left side under Navigatin blck. This will shw all curses which yu have assigned as Teacher. When yu click in either links yu will find screensht belw T pen curse click n either curse cde r curse title. A curse hmepage lks like the fllwing screensht. Dwn the left and right sides are blcks which can be added t and remved, and in the middle is the "wrk area". Yu can start wrk n it by turning n the editing, either with the buttn tp right r the link in the Curse Administratin blck:

Editing elements f yur Curse With the editing turned n, each item n yur curse hmepage and each sectin/blck will have icns next t it which all perfrm different functins such as edit /mve / cpy/ delete/ hide. Managing yur curse The Curse Administratin sectin f the Settings blck allws teachers t manage different aspects f their curse. Edit Settings - this takes yu t the Curse settings page. Yu can rename the curse, change its frmat frm Weekly t Tpic r alter the number f sectins.etc Users can enrll new users Filters - can enable r disable any allwed Filters fr yur curse.

Grades - allws t view, add and edit yur students' Grades. Backup/Restre - these links allw yu t make cpies f yur curse r bring in curses backed up elsewhere. Imprt - can imprt activities int yur curse here. Reset allws remving all ld user infrmatin at the end f an academic year r sessin in rder t start afresh. Adding Resurces A Resurce is an item that enable Teacher/Instructr t supprt learning by prvide study material t students in frm f web page, files, Url, flder r smetimes using Label. Adding Files There are tw ways yu may add a file, f any type, t yur Mdle curse.

Add a resurce 1. Frm the curse hmepage, select the Turn editing n buttn. 2. In the desired sectin, select the Add an activity r resurce link. 3. Under Resurces, select File and the Add buttn. Enter the name t be displayed fr the file e.g. Lecture 1: PPT Lecture 1: PPT Use this buttn t uplad yur Drag and drp yur file here 4. In the Name field, enter the name t be displayed fr the file n the curse hmepage. 6. Scrll dwn t the Cntent sectin. Yu may drag and drp the file frm yur cmputer int the indicated bx OR select the Add link t brwse yur cmputer fr the file. 7. After the file has finished uplading, scrll t the bttm and select the Save and return t curse buttn. Drag and drp 1. After turning editing n Lcate the file n yur cmputer and drag it nt the Curse hmepage and int the sectin yu desire. The file will begin t uplad and a status bar will display.

2. When the file has cmpleted the uplad prcess, the file will appear n yur Curse hmepage. Nte: Make sure yu have the mst recent release f the web brwser yu are using. Drag and drp functinality may nt wrk with lder versins f sme brwsers. Adding Page Enable yu t enter study material in the web like frmat. Frm the Curse hmepage, select the Turn editing n buttn.

After click n add this page the fllwing windw will appear Enter page name e.g Tpic 1: Ntes Type descriptin f the page Enter the desired infrmatin in the Cntent text field. Or yu may cpy frm ms wrd and then paste here Click here t save changes

Frmating and Editing in page Fr create link t anther website r within the page Mdle media fr uplading image, vide and embedded vide int the page. Adding Labels The label is a versatile tl in Mdle that can be used fr rganizatin and t imprve the verall appearance f a curse site. If it happen ne f yur sectin has mre than ne tpics, we use label t distinguish between ne tpics t anther. See the screensht belw

Label fr lecture 1 Label fr lecture 2 Label fr lecture 3 Prcedure fr adding a Label 1. Frm the Curse hmepage, select the Turn editing n buttn. 2. In the desired sectin, select the Add an activity r resurce link. 3. Frm the list f available ptins, select Label. 4. Select the Add buttn. 5. Enter the desired infrmatin in the Label text field (Usual we name it as tpic title) Nte: Use the Tlbar t custmize the entry by styling the text t be heading 3. 6. Select Save and return t curse 7. Yu can nw use the "mve tl" indicated by a crsshair icn t mve yur label t where yu wish it t display. Creating and Mdifying Grups Mdle allws instructrs t create grups f students. Grups may be created manually r autmatically, and can include students, instructrs, teaching assistants, etc. Managing Grups 1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand.

2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, yu may (1) Edit grup settings (e,g, grup name, descriptin), (2) Delete grups, (3) Create grup(s), and (4) Aut-create grups. Editing Grup Settings

1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand. 2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, select the grup yu want t edit frm the Grups list. 4. Select Edit grup settings. Yu will be redirected t the Edit grup settings page. 5. Make any changes yu wuld like. 6. Select Save changes. Deleting Grup(s) 1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand. 2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, select the grup yu want t delete frm the Grups list. 4. Select Delete selected grup. Yu will be redirected t the Delete grup page. 5. Select Yes t cnfirm deletin f the grup. Creating Grups 1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand. 2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, select Create grup. Yu will be redirected t the grup creatin page.

4. On the grup creatin page, enter a Grup name. Optinal: Yu may als enter a grup descriptin. 5. Select Save changes. Adding/Remving grup members 1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand. 2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, select the grup yu want t add members t frm the Grups list. 4. Select Add/remve users. Yu will be redirected t the Add/remve users page. 5. Adding members 1. On the Add/remve users page, under the Ptential members list, select the user(s) (e.g. student, teaching assistant, teacher) yu wuld like t add t the grup. 2. Select the < Add buttn (lcated at the center). 3. When dne adding members, select the Back t grups. 6. Remving members 1. On the Add/remve users page, under the Grup members list, select the user(s) (e.g. student, teaching assistant, teacher) yu wuld like t remve frm the grup.

2. Select the Remve > buttn (lcated at the center). 3. When dne adding members, select the Back t grups. Aut-creating grups 1. Select Users under the Curse administratin blck. The Users menu will expand. 2. Select Grups frm the expanded User menu. Yu will be redirected t the Grups page. 3. On the Grups page, select the Aut-create grups buttn. Yu will be redirected t the Aut-create grups page. 4. On the Aut-create grups page, enter a grup naming scheme fr Naming scheme. Fr example, entering Grup @ will generate grups named Grup A, Grup B, Grup C, etc; whereas entering Grup # will generate grups named Grup 1, Grup 2, Grup 3, etc. 5. Fr Aut create based n, select Number f grups r Members per grup. 6. Fr Grup/member cunt, depending n yur selectin in Step 5, enter either the number f grups yu wuld like aut-created (e.g. 4) r members per grup (e.g. 5). 7. When dne, select Save changes

Adding a link t a website/url resurce 1. G t the curse hmepage and click Turn editing n. 2. Click Add an activity r resurce in the sectin where yu want t add the the link. 3. Select URL Resurce and click Add. 4. Give the link a Name. (This will be displayed n the curse site hmepage.) 5. Type r cpy and paste the URL int the Cntent > External URL text bx. (Nte: The "Chse a link..." is nn-functinal and will give an errr message if used.) 6. Expand the Appearance menu and chse New Windw in the Display ptin. 7. Review the rest f the settings and change if desired. 8. Click the Save and return t curse buttn at the bttm. Adding Activities Adding a Frum 1. G t the curse hmepage and click Turn editing n. 2. Click Add an activity r resurce in the sectin where yu want t add the [item]. 3. Select Frum r Frum+ (beta) and click Add. 4. In the Frum name text bx, enter the name f the frum. 5. In the Frum Descriptin text bx enter a descriptin and instructins fr the activity. 6. Fr Frum type, chse ne f the fllwing: Single simple discussin The instructr can create nly ne discussin. This keeps the cnversatin fcused n ne tpic. Users are allwed t pst replies but cannt t start new discussin tpics. Each persn psts ne discussin Each persn in class can start nly ne discussin. This frum type can be useful if each student needs t pst ne questin r chse nly ne tpic frm a reading. Each discussin can have multiple replies. Q and A Frum Use t present a questin and answer frmat that requires students t pst their answers befre viewing ther student pstings. Once a student sends a pst, they must wait 15 minutes (the alltted time t edit their wn pst) befre viewing and respnding t ther psts. Standard frum displayed in a blg-like frmat - Anyne can start a new discussin at any time. Discussin tpics are displayed n ne page with a snippet f the discussin included.

Standard frum fr general use Anyne can start a new discussin at any time. Each discussin is n a separate page. 7. Select and cmplete additinal ptins (see Cmmnly Used Settings belw). 8. Scrll dwn and click Save and display. Cmmnly used frum settings Subscriptin and tracking: Subscriptin mde - Cntrls whether emails are sent frm the frum when psts are made. Nte: Students can als chse thrugh their prfile whether they receive an email every time smene psts r whether they receive an email at the end f each day with a cmpilatin f all that day s psts. Optinal: Students can chse t subscribe t the frum r nt. Frced: Everyne is subscribed and cannt unsubscribe (nt recmmended) Aut: Everyne is subscribed initially, but can unsubscribe Disabled: subscriptins are nt allwed Pst threshld fr blcking - Sets a maximum number f psts allwed fr students during a particular time perid, e.g., n mre than three psts per day. Ratings - T grade a discussin, select an Aggregate type and Scale. If the scale is numeric, it will be calculated as part f the grade. If the scale is nn-numeric, it will nt be calculated. T allw nly certain psts t be rated, select a date range. Restrict access - Select the dates fr allwing access. When the activity can't be accessed, yu can chse t shw it grayed-ut, r hide the activity entirely. Yu can als restrict access accrding t criteria that yu define. Setting up rating ptins fr a discussin frum By default, discussin Frums in Mdle have n grade assciated with them. Hwever, frums have a ratings ptin which, when enabled, allws instructrs and teaching assistants t rate student frum psts. There are tw basic ways t rate psts. Use a set number f pints, fr example 1-5. Use a preset scale with a variety f text ptins, fr example pass/fail. Sme scales als have pints assciated with them, fr example Excellent/Very Pr (4 pints). Bth types f ratings will appear in the Gradebk, but nly ratings with a pint value will cntribute t a Curse ttal grade. Prcedures n Setting up rating ptins fr a discussin frum 1. While yu are setting up yur discussin frum scrll dwn t the Rating place.

2. Scrll dwn and click Ratings t see the ptins abve. 3. Chse an Aggregate type. The aggregate type defines hw ratings are cmbined t frm the final grade in the gradebk. Average f ratings - The mean f all ratings. Cunt f ratings - The number f rated psts becmes the final grade. Nte that the ttal cannt exceed the maximum grade fr the activity. Maximum rating - The highest rating becmes the final grade. Minimum rating - The smallest rating becmes the final grade. Sum f ratings - All ratings are added tgether fr a ttal scre. Nte that the ttal cannt exceed the maximum grade fr the activity. Nte: N aggregatin methd can exceed the maximum pint value f the numeric scale chsen fr rating. 4. Chse a Scale Type: Example: If yu set Maximum pints = 10, and Aggregate type = Sum f ratings, a student wh has fur separate psts that are all rated at 3 pints each will still nly receive 10 pints ttal fr the frum. Fr Scale, chse a Scale frm the drp-dwn list. Scales that include pint values will appear in the gradebk, scales with n pint value will nt. Fr Pint, enter a pint value in Maximum pints. Rating values will appear in the gradebk. Nte: In Mdle 2.6, there is ne list including bth scales and pint values. 5. Scrll dwn and click Save and display. Rating an individual pst 1. Find the pst yu want t rate.

2. Chse a rating frm the Rate drp-dwn menu at the bttm f the pst. 3. View the student s scre. Instructrs see the rating, as well as the aggregatin methd, the student s current scre, and the Rate menu. Students see their wn rating and the aggregatin f their scres in this frum. Students nly see their wn ratings and scres. 4. Rate ther psts as necessary. 5. When yu are dne return t yur curse hmepage. Assignments Assignments are used when yu want yur students t hand in sme wrk thrugh Mdle (except the ffline activity assignment type). When the wrk has been submitted yu can mark it and give feedback in Mdle. Marks are stred in the curse gradebk. There are fur types f assignment. Yur chice f assignment type depends n what yu want yur students t d. Online text Students type int a bx in Mdle they have the Mdle WYSIWYG editr and can therefre use the tls included; linking t websites, displaying images, etc. Uplad a single file Students have t uplad a file. The teacher determines the maximum file uplad size when setting the assignment. Advanced uplading f files The teacher can allw mre than ne file t be upladed. With this assignment type students can delete wrk already upladed and resubmit wrk. Steps fr setting up an assignment Setting up an assignment is the same fr all assignment types except that there is a dedicated sectin with settings specific t the assignment type chsen. General Settings (cmmn t all assignment types)

With editing turned n in yur curse, g t the sectin where yu wuld like the assignment t appear and click add an activity... Chse the desired activity type Give the assignment a name (this becmes a link that yur students will click n) In the descriptin bx give yur students the instructins they need t cmplete The task. Determine hw yu want t mark the task using the grade drp dwn menu. Decide whether yu want t limit when yur students can start submitting their wrk t yu. Yu can als set when it s due t be handed in r disable this functinality altgether (using the tick bxes). Decide whether yu are ging t let students submit wrk late r nt using the prevent late submissins setting (if yu chse t use a due date in the first place). The next sectin f settings is specific t the assignment type yu chse. Online text Allw resubmitting: If yes students can resubmit their wrk. If N and a student submit wrk by accident and there s n way back.

Email alerts t teachers: If Mdle knws yur email address and yu chse yes yu will receive an email each time a student submits wrk t yu. Cmment inline: If yes yu will be able t type in amngst the text that yur student submits. Chse N and yur feedback is kept separate. Maximum Size: Chse the maximum file size fr any single file upladed by the students. Allw deleting: Can a student delete a submitted file r nt? Maximum number f upladed files: Decide hw many files shuld be submitted fr the task. Allw ntes: D yu want t prvide yur students with a place t write sme ntes, e.g. t explain which file is which. Hide descriptin befre available date: If yu chse t d this, the task instructins will be hidden and replaced by: Srry, this assignment is nt yet available. Assignment instructins will be displayed here n the date given belw. Email alerts t teachers: If Mdle knws yur email address and yu chse yes yu will receive an email each time a student submits wrk t yu. Enable Send fr marking: If yu chse yes the student clicks a buttn which says Send fr marking when they are upladed the finished files. If n, the wrk appears as submitted as sn as a file has been upladed by the student.

Uplad a single file Allw resubmitting: If yes students can resubmit their wrk. If N and a student submit wrk by accident and there s n way back. Email alerts t teachers: This is the same as in the ther assignment types abve. If Mdle knws yur email address and yu chse yes yu will receive an email each time a student submits wrk t yu. Maximum size: Same as in advanced uplading f files. Chse the maximum file sizes fr the file students uplad. Marking Assignments When students submit wrk yu can access it by clicking n the assignment and fllwing the link in the tp right hand crner which says View submitted assignments r N attempts have been made n this assignment. This link takes yu t a list f students enrlled n the curse. 25

When yu are ready t start grading there are tw ptins. The prcedure is same fr bth: 1. Give a grade and sme feedback, 2. Decide whether yu want the student t receive an email telling them yu ve marked their wrk 3. Mve t the next student. Which f the grading ptins yu use is up t yu. Depending n what yu are marking, yu may prefer ne ver the ther: Default grading: 1. Click Grade in the status clumn fr the first student, this brings up a new windw 2. Give a grade and fill in the feedback 3. Click save and shw next t see the next student 26

Quick grading: 1. Input the grade and a cmment directly nt the page where yu can see a list f all the students. 2. Quick grading will nt allw yu t prvide feedback within the text f an nline text assignment. Hwever, quick grading is prbably preferable when inputting grades and feedback fr upladed files r ffline activities. 3. T switch quick grading n yu tick the bx Allw quick grading (bttm right) and then click Save preferences Mdle Guidebk GRADES Mdle's Gradebk can help rganize and manage grades fr students in yur curse. Activity and grade item scres will autmatically display in the gradebk. Students are able t view their grades. Each student nly sees his/her wn grade. The instructr can cntrl what grades are visible/hidden. Grades can be exprted and imprted, allwing instructrs t use Excel fr cmputing grades. Create a Categry 1. Select Grades frm the Curse administratin blck (n the left side f the page). Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page (e.g. 'quizzes', 'assignments', 'hmewrk', etc.) Each categry will then have its wn ttal clumn in the gradebk. It will calculate all f the items in the categry. 27

3. Select the Add Categry buttn (lcated at the bttm f the page). 4. Enter a Categry name and select a grade aggregatin methd. See Setting Aggregatins in the next sectin fr aggregatin methds explanatins. 5. Select the Save changes buttn. Selecting a Grade Aggregatin Methd Selecting a Grade Aggregatin Methd Mdle ffers 3 methds f aggregating grades. Due t the number f ptins available and their cmplexity, it is recmmended t use the Natural aggregatin methd. Natural The Natural aggregatin methd is the newest and recmmend ptin. Natural initially sets up weighting based n grade item pint values. If needed, weights can be verridden fr categries r grade items. This methd allws grade items t be marked as Extra Credit, and allws Categries t use the Drp the lwest ptin when specific criteria are met. Other Aggregatin Methds Simple Weighted Mean f Grades 28

The Simple Weighted Mean f Grades methd will weigh grade items based n the item's maximum pssible pints. Due t this reasn, this methd WILL NOT allw weights t be set fr grade items. Fr example, if the curse ttal is 1,000 pints, a grade item wrth 100 will be weighed at 10%. Weighted Mean f Grades The Weighted Mean f Grades methd will weigh grade items based n the weight set in the 'Weights' bx n the Categries and Items page. This methd des nt take int accunt the number f maximum pints fr a grade item. All grade item weights MUST add up t 100. Fr example, when the weight f a grade item is set t '10', it will be weighed at 10% regardless f the number f maximum pints. Setting Grade Preferences Setting Grades t Shw as Percentages r Pints This setting determines hw grades are displayed in the grader and user reprts t students. 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page. 3. On the Categries and Items page, select the "Curse grade settings" tab. 4. Select a Grade display type. This setting determines hw grades are displayed t students. Instructrs can select ne r a cmbinatin (limited t tw) f the fllwing three display types: Real - Actual grades (pints) Percentage 29

Letter Entering and Editing Grades Editing grades in the gradebk nly edits the grades. Nne f the available peratins bear any relatinship t editing the main curse page (i.e. the appearance f yur curse page will nt be influenced by anything yu d in the gradebk. The 'Turn editing n' buttn functins separately frm that n the main curse page, s editing can be n in the gradebk, but simultaneusly ff n the curse page. This is because editing grades and editing the curse page are separate capabilities. Tips n Grading There are tw ptins fr grading in Mdle: 1. Grade in the Activity (e.g. assignment, quiz, frum) This is the recmmended methd. Allws viewing f assignment submissins, quiz answers, frum psts f student. 2. Grade in the Gradebk View and/r enter multiple grades fr a single student. View and/r enter multiple grades fr a single activity. View and/r enter grades fr all students. IMPORTANT: If entering grades directly int the gradebk, the ability t grade and enter feedback frm within the activity will be lcked. Entering grades in the Gradebk 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the Grader reprt, select Turn Editing On (lcated at tp-right). 30

3. Grade cells will display, allwing yu t manually enter/change grades fr students. 4. Select the Save changes buttn t save changes when dne entering/changing grades. NOTE: If editing/changing a grade fr a Mdle activity (i.e. nt manually created grade item), the activity's cells will be highlighted in range clr t shw that the grade has been verridden. 5.5 Add New Grade Item There may be sme instances where yu wish t manually create a clumn/grade item. Fr example, yu may wish t create ne fr an activity cmpleted utside f Mdle. 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page. 3. On the Categries and Items page, scrll t the bttm f the page and select Add grade item. 4. in the Item 4. If yu wish t enter a numerical grade, set Grade type t Value. 4. Enter a Maximum grade (e.g. 100). 31

5. Select Save changes buttn. 5.6 User Reprt View The User Reprt view displays a grade reprt fr a single r all students. It is useful fr reviewing what students see when viewing their grades. The User Reprt displays students grades in the current curse. It includes: A breakdwn f grades fr each activity/grade item in the curse. The calculated weight f each activity/grade item. Any feedback fr an activity/grade item. The verall grade fr the curse (i.e. curse ttal). NOTE: Any activities and/r grade items that are italicized n the User Reprt page are hidden frm students (i.e. students are unable t see it). Hw t access User Reprt 1. Under the Curse administratin blck, select Grades. Yu will then be redirected t the Grader Reprt page. 2. On the Grader Reprt page, select User reprt. Yu will nw then be redirected t the User Reprt page. 3. On the User Reprt page, yu may select ne student r all students t view their grades. 32

5.7 Extra Credit An activity/grade item may be set as extra credit t nt cunt tward a categry and/r curse ttal. The grade f the activity/grade item will be added t the categry r curse ttal after all nn-extra credit items have been calculated. Extra credit may nly be set up n the Categries and Items page, under the Setup tab in the Gradebk. We recmmend using the extra credit functinality with the Natural grade aggregatin methd. Setting an Activity/Grade Item as Extra Credit 1. Select Setup. Yu will then be redirected t the Categries and Items page. 2. On the Categries and Items page, lcate the activity/grade item t set as extra credit. 3. Select Edit under the Actins clumn. 4. Select Edit settings. 5. Check the Extra Credit bx (lcated under the Parent categry header). 5.8 Drpping the Lwest Grade(s) Mdle allws instructrs t drp the lwest grade(s) frm a categry cntaining activities/grade items in the gradebk. The activities/grade items in a categry must be the same maximum value. It is recmmended t implement this feature at the end f a semester r after all activities/grade items in a categry have grades t ensure accurate calculatin. Drpping the lwest grade(s) 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page. 3. On the Categries and items page, lcate the categry t drp the lwest grade in. 4. Select Edit under the Actins clumn. 33 5. Select Edit settings. Yu will be redirected t the Edit categry page.

6. On the Edit categry page, select Shw mre under the Grade categry header. 7. Enter the number f lwest grades yu wish t drp in the Drp the lwest bx. 8. Select Save changes 5.9 Custm Grade Ttal Calculatin Mdle autmatically calculates ttals fr grades. Hwever, Mdle allws instructrs t setup custm grade calculatins fr a categry, manually created grade item, and/r curse ttal. A custm grade calculatin is a frmula used t determine grades based n anther grade items. This may be useful fr example if yu want t take the average f 3 grade items frm ne categry, duble it, and add it t the average f anther categry. Enabling custm calculatins 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page. 3. Select Preferences: Grader reprt. 4. Set Shw calculatins t Yes. 5. Select Save changes. Creating custm calculatins fr a Categry 1. In the Gradebk, select Setup tab. 2. Select Categries and items. 3. Lcate the categry fr which yu wuld like t set 4. Lcate the item fr which yu wuld like t create a calculatin, and under Actins, select Edit Calculatin ( Edit Calculatin Icn ). The Edit calculatin page will pen. Nte: The Edit Calculatin icn will nly be appear next t categry ttals, manually created grade items, and the Curse ttal. 5.10 Hiding Grades Activity/Grade item grades may be hidden frm students in the Gradebk. While a categry r grade item may be hidden in the Gradebk, an activity/grade item must be hidden n the curse page t nt appear in the Gradebk. The hidden activity/grade item is still visible t yu as the instructr in a italicized grey clr. The grade f the hidden activity/grade item will nt be included in the calculatin f grades. Hiding a Categry r Grade Item in the Gradebk 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Setup tab. Yu will be redirected t the Categries and items page. 3. Select Setup. Yu will then be redirected t the Categries and Items page. 4. Exprting Grades 5.13 Exprt and Imprt Grades 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Exprt tab. Yu will be redirected t the Exprt page. 3. On the Exprt page, select Excel spreadsheet. Yu will be redirected t the Exprt t Excel spreadsheet page. 4. The Exprt t Excel spreadsheet page will list all activities/grade items available in yur curse. Check the bx next t thse activities/grade items and categry/curse ttals yu wish t exprt. 5. Select Dwnlad. Imprting Grades 1. Select Grades under the Curse administratin blck. Yu will be redirected t the gradebk. 2. In the gradebk, select the Imprt tab. Yu will be redirected t the Imprt page. 3. On the Imprt page, uplad the CSV file f grades t imprt by selecting the Chse a file buttn and uplading the CSV file. 4. Once the CSV file is upladed int the File bx, select the Uplad grades buttn. Yu will be redirected t the Imprt preview page, allwing yu t review the grades t be upladed. 35 5. Under the Identify user by header, set Map frm and Map t as Email address.

6. Under the Grade item mappings header, map any grade item(s) yu are imprting t the desired grade item(s) by selecting the name. 7. Select Uplad grades. 36
