Complete the log in process, selecting the appropriate role (e.g., author, co-author) To ensure that your manuscript is correctly identified for inclusion into the CIRP Life Cycle Engineering 2019 special issue, it is important that authors select SI:LCE 2019 when you reach the Article Type step in the submission process: Page 2 14

You will begin the process of submitting your manuscript: Page 4 14
Add the appropriate information. NOTE: You have the ability to add authors at this point in the submittal process. The left hand column displays the remaining actions Any additional authors added must have previously registered with Procedia CIRP - you will see the following screen if they are not in the database with instructions on how to proceed. Please pay close attention to this step PLEASE SELECT SI: LCE 2019. Selecting an incorrect conference could cause irreversible delays in approving your submittal. NOTE: The list of conferences will change over time the illustration below may change depending on your submittal date. You will now be required to submit your abstract. NOTE: There is an enforced limit of 300 words at this step of the process. The CIRP Scientific Committee did not rigorously require previously submitted abstracts to this limit. Page 6 14
Provide responses for the requested additional information. It is recommended that you do not include these i.e. by selecting No and No. Page 7 14

You will now upload all of the required paper elements. Depending on previous selections (e.g., submitting a Data in Brief article) you will also upload those documents at this point in the process. The table at the bottom of the screen provides additional options once you have completed uploading all documents. You also have the ability to remove and download previously submitted documents. After clicking Next at the bottom of the page, you will be alerted to any missing, required documents as shown in the following figure: Page 9 14
Missing submittal elements (abstract missing in this example). You can click on the appropriate box in the lefthand column to navigate to the required submittal page. In this example, the abstract was added after the manuscript. After the abstract was uploaded, the order was revised by entering 1 for the abstract and 2 for the manuscript. Page 10 14
The previously noted error has been resolved. The submittal PDF can now be completed click Build PDF for my Approval. You will see the following screen please follow the instructions. You will also receive an email with similar instructions. Page 11 14
Clicking on the Submissions Waiting for Approval by Author link will bring to a similar to the one below (actual required actions will vary by author). Move your cursor over the Action Links hyperlink to view the available options. You can also click on the + button to the left of Actions to display the options View Submission Edit Submission Approve Submission Remove Submission Send Email You must select View Submission before selecting Approve Submission. Selecting Approve Submission without viewing the submittal will result in the following message: A PDF file will be downloaded to your computer after clicking on View Submission. Page 12 14
After you review the submission PDF file, clicking on the Approve Submission link will display the following message: If everything is acceptable, click OK. You will see the following screen and receive a Submission Confirmation email, with information on how to track the status of your paper Page 13 14
