Asus Chromebook C300SA-DS02 VECO Speakers Replacement This guide will teach you how to remove the speakers from the device. Written By: Sam LaBelle ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 1 of 9

INTRODUCTION This repair guide demonstrates the step by step process of removing the VECO speakers from the laptop. They are located inside the laptop and under the battery which will require the removal of both the keyboard and the battery before gaining access. Step 1 Keyboard Power the laptop off and make sure the charger is unplugged before starting. Unscrew the eight PH0 8.0mm screws on the laptop. Unscrew the three PH0 6.0mm screws. Step 2 Using the plastic opening tool, lift the back panel from the rest of the laptop. Unhinge all four sides and corners Slowly separate the keyboard panel from the back panel. You won't be able to completely remove the two panels. They are connected by a ribbon cable. Carefully disconnect the cable from the green motherboard. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 3 of 9

Step 3 The wide ribbon cable connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Disconnect the wide ribbon cable by sliding it out of the motherboard input. Pull the cable toward the battery to dislodge. Step 4 The narrow ribbon cable connect the track pad to the motherboard. Just like the previous step, disconnect the narrow ribbon cable by sliding it out of the motherboard input. Step 5 Remove the keyboard from the laptop. Step 6 Battery Remove the six 6.0mm PH0 screws around the battery. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 5 of 9

Step 7 Using your thumb and index finger, pinch the multi-color cable and disconnect it from the motherboard. Step 8 Lift the battery out of the laptop. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 6 of 9

Step 9 VECO Speakers Unplug the speaker cable from the motherboard. Step 10 Start by removing the right speaker first. There are two metal clips and one plastic clip holding the right speaker in place. Push them back and lift speaker out of the laptop. Step 11 Untangle the wire connecting the right speaker to the left speaker. Move right speaker and wires away from your working space. Do not lift wire straight up, there are five interlocking ribs holding this wire in place. Step 12 There are two metal clips and one plastic clip holding the right speaker in place.
