RHODODENDRON Specimens djr.com 7 The name of the city derives from two words; Möln, which is a short form for Möllor, an old word for the mills, and the word Dal, which is the Swedish word for valley. Many narrow but high and long waterfalls in Kvarnbyn gave the necessary power to all the watermills that together with the windmills on the hills gave birth to the early industrialization of the region.

tar RHODODENDRON Additional information djr.com 10 Rhododendron is a stocky geometric slab with distinctive vertical serifs in unexpected places. Its jumping-off point was the cover of a 1952 garden calendar that I found in the Mölndals Stadsmuseum outside Gothenburg, Sweden. With narrow, straight-sided forms and curves, Rhododendron s quirky, mechanical look is punctuated by extra-gappy inktraps as well as blocky forms of f, j, and t. A native of Los Angeles, he began drawing typefaces at Hampshire College and joined The Font Bureau in 2007 where he honed his bézier-wrangling skills. Now he publishes visually imaginative and technically advanced designs at his own foundry, including Fit, Manicotti, Input, Gimlet, and Bungee. You ll find him in Western Massachusetts with his partner Emily and their two dogs, Sophie and Lily.
