Withut prper planning r cntrl, errrs r changes during the staging prcess culd result in pr applicatin reliability, increased time t value, and prject delays. DcAve Deplyment Manager ffers a rbust slutin that autmates the change management f SharePint slutins, custmizatins, and Web frnt end elements, thereby: Minimizing human errr and cst verruns Accelerating service delivery Facilitating pre prductin testing and deplyment peratins Cmplementary Prducts Many prducts and prduct suites n the DcAve 6 platfrm wrk in cnjunctin with ne anther. Befre Yu Begin Refer t the sectins fr belw fr system requirements fr Deplyment Manager. Cnfiguratin In rder t use Deplyment Manager, the DcAve 6 platfrm must be installed and cnfigured prperly n yur farm. Deplyment Manager will nt functin withut DcAve 6 present n the farm. Agents SharePint Agents are respnsible fr running DcAve jbs and interacting with the SharePint bject mdel. At the minimum, DcAve must have ne agent installed n at least ne f the Web frnt end (WFE) servers. DcAve Agents enable DcAve Manager t cmmunicate with the respective servers, allwing fr Deplyment Manager cmmands t functin prperly. *Nte: The use f system resurces n a server increases when the installed agent is perfrming actins. This may affect server perfrmance. Hwever, if the agent installed n a server is nt being used, the use f system resurces is very lw and, therefre, the effect n server perfrmance is negligible. Fr instructins n installing the DcAve Platfrm, DcAve Manager, and DcAve Agents, see the DcAve 6 Installatin Guide. 6

Licensing and Permissins T install and use Deplyment Manager prperly, ensure that the agent accunt has the fllwing permissins: 1. Lcal System Permissins: These permissins are autmatically cnfigured by DcAve during installatin. Refer t Lcal System Permissins fr a list f the permissins autmatically cnfigured upn installatin. If there are n strict limitatins n the permissins, yu can simply add the DcAve Agent Accunt t the lcal Administratrs grup t apply all f the required permissins. 2. SharePint Permissins: These permissins must be manually cnfigured prir t using DcAve 6 Deplyment Manager they are nt autmatically cnfigured. User is a member f the Farm Administratrs grup. Since Administratr wrks acrss farms and n all SharePint settings and cnfiguratins, this accunt is needed in rder t prvide the best and mst cmplete quality f service. Getting Started Refer t the sectins belw fr imprtant infrmatin n getting started with Deplyment Manager. Launching Deplyment Manager T launch Cntrl Panel and access its functinality, cmpletee the fllwing steps: 1. Lg in t DcAve. If yu are already in the sftware, click the DcAve tab. 2. Understanding Deplyment Manager When Deplyment Manager is launched, yu are brught t the Hme tab where yu can manage previusly deplyed plans, access the individual settings cntrl panels fr custmizing plans, and mnitr the status f currently running and scheduled plans. This is where yu can execute the majrity f jbs, including slutins deplyment and retractin, cmparing tw selected ndes f the same SharePint bject level, deplying Web applicatins, Web frnt end deplyment, and Shared Services deplyment. Deplyment manager is intended fr mving custmizatins and design changes thrugh their lifecycle n SharePint. A plan represents a cmplete set f custmizatins that can be mved and deplyed tgether. We recmmend using plans t track design changes crrespnding t the mvement f business slutins, such as custm pages, wrkflws, cntent types, r ther features as ne cmplete set. Each plan can have: Entire Web applicatins Design elements such as site templates Slutins and features Service applicatins: managed metadata Lcally deplyed assemblies and reference files: IIS settings, GAC, Hive,.DLLs, etc. Fr detailed infrmatin n what exactly is deplyed fr each element, refer t: Appendix C: Supprted and Unsupprted Elements fr Web Applicatin Deplyment Appendix D: Design Elements Deplyment Appendix E: Web Frnt End Deplyment Appendix F: Slutin Deplyment Appendix G: Managed Metadata Service Deplyment Deplyment Manager has Jb Mnitr integrated s that yu can check the status f deplyed plans withut leaving the Deplyment Manager interface. Deplyment Manager Interfacee In Deplyment Manager, yu will see the fllwing areas: 1. Tabs Switch between the Deplyment Manager Hme tab, Plan Manager fr Deplyment Manager, and the Cmpare tab. 2. Ribbn Tlbar where yu can perfrm certain actins t yur mappings, and cnfigure related settings. 3. Surce Pane Here yu can navigate thrugh SharePint farm structures t find the bject yu wish t deply frm. 4. Destinatin Pane Here yu can navigate thrugh SharePint farm structures t find the desired nde t deply t. 5. Queue List f deplyment mappings awaiting executin. 6. Search bars Find the desired bject via keywrd. This is useful iff yu knw what bject yu are lking fr but are nt certain where in yur SharePint farm(s) itt lives, r if yu have many multiple large envirnments, this can save yu sme time in finding the desired bject. Online vs. Offline Deplyment Fr the bjects under Web applicatin level, Deplyment Manager allws yu t perfrm an nline deplyment. If the surce nde and the destinatin nde are able t cmmunicate with each ther, the slutins may be deplyed via nline deplyment. T perfrm an nline slutin deplyment, fllw the instructins under Creating a Deplyment Mapping. If the surce nde and the destinatin nde are unable t cmmunicate with each ther, whether due t a firewall r any ther factr, slutins and design elements may still be deplyed via ffline deplyment. Offline deplyment invlves exprting the slutin(s) frm the surce nde t an Exprt Lcatin, and then imprting the slutins r design elements frm the Exprt Lcatin t the destinatin nde. T perfrm an ffline slutin deplyment, see the Offline Slutin Deplyment sectin f this guide. Fr the infrmatin n hw t cnfigure a Lgical Device, refer t DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. 12

Deplyment Mappings A deplyment mapping is created by selecting a Surce nde and a Destinatin nde. Creating a deplyment mapping is the first step t many f the cmmn uses f Deplyment Manager. This allws yu t: Quickly and easily perfrm a singular deplyment. This may be useful fr when a new site is created, and yu just wish t add a slutin r apply a template t it. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Perfrming a Singular Deplyment sectin f this guide. Cnfigure multiple deplyments t run ne after anther. This may be useful fr if yu have multiple singular deplyments t perfrm. This way yu can create all f yur mappings during wrk hurs, and then execute the deplyments ff hurs. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Perfrming Multiple Deplyments sectin f this guide. Cnfigure multiple deplyments, and save as a plan which allws yu t repeat the deplyment in the future withut having t recreate the same mapping and recnfigure the same settings. This may be useful if yu wish t keep the Destinatin nde in sync with the Surce nde, and s wuld wish t execute the same mappings peridically. Fr example, if yu have a develpment envirnment, a testing envirnment, a QA envirnment, and/r multiple farms. Each time yu update the nde n the develpment envirnment, yu may wish t have the testing envirnment updated as well, then update the QA envirnment fr further testing. Yu may then wish t update all f yur farms nce the testing is finished. This way, rather than creating a new deplyment mapping each time, yu can just rerun the plans created fr each deplyment. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Creating a Deplyment Plan sectin f this guide. Creating a Deplyment Mapping T create a deplyment mapping, fllw the instructins belw: 1. In the Surce pane, click n a farm t expand its bject tree. Cntinue clicking the relevant bjects until yu find the bject yu wish t deply frm. Select the surce bject. 2. In the Destinatin pane, click n a farm t expand its bject tree. Cntinue clicking the relevant bject until yu find the bject yu wish t deply t. Select the destinatin bject. 3. Click Add t Queue n the ribbn r n the lwer right crner f the page. The Add t Queue windw will pp up. Depending n the mapping yu are creating, sme f the fllwing settings may be cnfigured: *Nte: If the surce and destinatin have different templates, a warning message will appear t warn yu that deplyment may cause errrs. Click OK t cntinue, r click Cancel t return t the Surce and Destinatin selectin. Rerder the Slutins If there are multiple slutins being deplyed, yu may cnfigure the rder that the slutins are deplyed in by selecting the desired place in the rder clumn. 13

Cnflict Reslutin Chse Skip, Merge r Replace frm the Cntainer level cnflict reslutin drp dwn menu. Check the Check lwer bjects checkbx t cnfigure cntent level cnflict reslutin. Chse Skip, Overwrite r Overwrite by Last Mdified Time frm the Cntent level cnflict reslutin drp dwn menu. Fr detailed infrmatin n hw Deplyment Manager reslves cnflicts based n these cnfiguratins, see Appendix A: Cnflict Reslutin Web Applicatin Deplyment. Fr infrmatin n what criteria Deplyment Manager checks t determine cnflicts, see Appendix B: Cnflict Checks. Mappings If yu have previusly cnfigured mapping settings in Cntrl Panel, yu may chse t apply them t this deplyment mapping when adding this deplyment t the Queue. Fr mre infrmatin n these mapping settings, see the Advanced Settings sectin f this guide. Filter Plicy A Filter Plicy allws yu t designate specific bject r data within each SharePint level frm site cllectin dwn t item level. Surce Select a Filter Plicy yu previusly created frm the drp dwn menu t filter the surce bject r data r select New Filter Plicy t create a new ne. Fr instructins n creating a Filter Plicy, see the Filter Plicy sectin f the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. Destinatin Select a Filter Plicy yu previusly created frm the drp dwn menu t filter the destinatin bject r data r select New Filter Plicy t create a new ne. Fr instructins n creating a Filter Plicy, see the Filter Plicy sectin f the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. *Nte: A filter plicy can be selected fr the destinatin nly when yu deply the surce Site, List/library, Cntent Type Grup/Cntent type, Clumn grup/clumn t multiple destinatin sites r site cllectins, therwise the Destinatin drp dwn menu will be greyed ut. *Nte: The filter plicy in the Destinatin drp dwn menu nly filters at the site cllectin level and site level filter rules cnfigured in Filter Plicy. Lwer level bjects r data in the destinatin cannt be filtered even if the selected Filter Plicy cntains rules applicable t thse bjects. Surce Cntent Settings Select the surce cmpnents that yu want t deply t the destinatin: Include security Enable this ptin t deply user and/r grup permissins t the destinatin nde. Include user prfile Enable this ptin t deply user prfile t the destinatin nde. Make sure that the selected destinatin s Web applicatin is cnnected t the User Prfile Service Applicatin befre yu select this ptin. Include User Cntent Enable this ptin t deply the custmized cntent t the destinatin nde. Wrkflw Enable the Include wrkflw definitin ptin t als deply the definitin f existing surce wrkflws t the destinatin nde. 14

Deply t Relative Lists and Sites Enable this ptin t synchrnize the surce cntent type t the destinatin. If yu have deplyed a cntent type frm the surce t the destinatin befre, with this ptin selected, the cntent type changes will be synchrnized t the destinatin after this deplyment jb. Preserve the Null Clumn Values Chse whether r nt t preserve the null value f item clumn(s) in the surce. Sme values f the newly created clumn(s) may be null fr previus items, and this ptin allws yu t chse whether t replace the null value with the default value in the destinatin. By default, we will preserve the null value fr thse items. Web Cnfiguratin Settings This ptin appears when yu perfrm an IIS Site Files level deplyment. Chse whether r nt t include Web Cnfiguratin in the deplyment jb. By default, the fllwing parameters are included fr searching the related cnfiguratin in web.cnfig files: cnfiguratin/sharepint/peplepickerwildcards; cnfiguratin/system.web/membership/prviders; cnfiguratin/system.web/rlemanager/prviders; cnfiguratin/cnnectinstrings; Yu can custmize the parameters accrding t the XPath frmat in the left pane f the interface. Chse whether r nt t include the parent nde s prperties if the parent nde des nt exist in the destinatin by checking the checkbx. 4. Click OK t add this deplyment mapping t the Queue, r click Cancel t return t selecting Surce and Destinatin ndes fr the deplyment mapping. T edit the deplyment mapping, click n the Queue Tls tab. Yu will be brught t the Queue Tls tab f Deplyment Manager. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Queue Tls sectin f this guide. Perfrming a Singular Deplyment Deplyment Manager allws yu t perfrm singular deplyments such as applying a farm slutin t a certain Web applicatin r applying ne site s template t anther site. Fr a singular deplyment, fllw the steps in Creating a Deplyment Mapping t create a mapping. The new deplyment mapping will appear in yur Queue, and is ready fr yu t execute. T execute this mapping, click Run n the ribbn r click Run at the bttm f the screen. Perfrming Multiple Deplyments Deplyment Manager allws yu t perfrm multiple deplyments by using the Queue system. This way, yu can create mappings and cnfigure each deplyment jb, then run them all tgether when yu are ready. 15

T perfrm multiple deplyments, create deplyment mappings by repeating the steps in Creating a Deplyment Mapping. Each deplyment mapping yu cnfigure will appear in the Queue. Yu can change the rder in which the deplyment mappings are executed by clicking the crrespnding drpdwn menu in the Order clumn f the Queue, then selecting the desired place in the Queue. Nte that by default, five deplyment mappings are shwn in the Queue. T change the number f deplyment mappings displayed in the Queue, click the Shw rws drp dwn menu beneath the Queue, then select the desired number f deplyment mappings t display. After a deplyment mapping is added t the Queue, the Queue Tls tab appears. Click the Queue Tls tab t make changes t any f the mappings in the Queue. Refer t the Queue Tls sectin f this guide fr mre infrmatin. When yu are finished adding deplyment mappings t the Queue, click Run n the ribbn r click Run at the bttm f the screen. Deply One Surce Object t Multiple Site Cllectins r Sites in Destinatin This allws yu t deply ne surce bject t multiple site cllectins r sites by adding ne mapping t queue. The surce supprted bjects are site, list/library, cntent type grup/cntent type, clumn grup/clumn, the destinatin supprted ndes are Web applicatin and site cllectin. Deplying t multiple site cllectins Select the surce nde, and select a destinatin Web applicatin, click Add t Queue, a pp up windw appears, yu can select t Deply t Tplevel site nly r Deply t all sites: If yu select Deply t Tp level site nly in the pp up windw, the Add t Queue windw appears, cnfigure the mapping settings and Click OK t add this deplyment mapping t the Queue. Fr the details n hw t cnfigure the mapping settings, refer t the Creating a Deplyment Mapping sectin in this guide. After the deplyment jb, the surce bject will be deplyed t all the tp level sites under the selected destinatin Web applicatin. If yu select Deply t all sites, the Add t Queue windw pps up, cnfigure the queue settings and Click OK t add this deplyment mapping t the queue. Fr the details n hw t cnfigure the mapping settings, refer t the Creating a Deplyment Mapping sectin in this guide. After the deplyment jb, the surce bject will be deplyed t all the tp level sites and sites under the selected destinatin Web applicatin. Deplying t multiple sites Select the surce nde, and select a destinatin site cllectin, click Add t Queue, a pp up windw appears, yu can select t Deply t Tp level site nly r Deply t all sites: If yu select Deply t Tp level site nly in the pp up windw, the Queue Settings cnfiguratin page appears, cnfigure the queue settings and Click OK t add this deplyment mapping t the queue. After the deplyment jb, the surce bject will be deplyed t all the tp level sites under the selected destinatin site cllectin. 16

If yu select Deply t all sites, the Add t Queue windw appears, cnfigure the queue settings and Click OK t add this deplyment mapping t the Queue. After the deplyment jb, the surce bject will be deplyed t all the tp level sites and sites under the selected destinatin site cllectin. Nte that when yu select a site in the surce, yu can nly select a Web applicatin in the destinatin if yu want t perfrm the batch settings. The tp level site can nly be deplyed t the destinatin tp level site. If yu select a tp level site in the surce, and select a Web applicatin r site cllectin in the destinatin, click Add t Queue, and the Deply t all sites ptin will be greyed ut. Offline Deplyment fr Objects in a Web Applicatin T perfrm an ffline deplyment fr the bjects in a Web applicatin, exprt the bjects t an exprt lcatin and then imprt the bjects t the desired destinatin nde. Make sure an exprt lcatin is cnfigured befre this ffline deplyment. Fr the details n hw t create an exprt lcatin, please refer t DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. Fllw the steps belw t exprt the bjects in a Web applicatin: 1. Click Start with Data Exprt in the left hand pane f the landing page, r click Data Exprt n the ribbn. The Data Exprt interface appears. 2. Select the desired nde in the Surce pane. Yu can select the entire Web applicatin r desired bjects within the Web applicatin. 3. In the Destinatin pane, select the exprt lcatin yu wish t exprt the bjects t frm the Exprt Lcatin drp dwn menu. 4. Click Add t Queue and cnfigure settings in the Add t Queue windw. Fr mre infrmatin n these settings, refer t the Creating a Deplyment Mapping sectin in this guide. 5. Click OK t add t the queue, r Cancel t return t the Surce and Destinatin selectin interface. If yu wish t add ther mappings, click Exit in the Destinatin pane, and the data trees will appear in the Destinatin pane nce again. 6. Once yu have finished adding mappings t the Queue, click Save As t save this Queue as a plan and fllw the instructins in Creating a Deplyment Plan. Alternatively, t execute the Queue immediately, click Run n the ribbn r click Run lcated at the bttm f the screen. Fllw the steps belw t imprt the Web applicatin level bjects: 1. Click Start with Data Imprt in the left hand pane f the landing page, r click Data Imprt n the ribbn. The Data Imprt interface appears. 2. Select the destinatin nde in the Destinatin pane. 3. In the Surce pane, select Design frm the Imprt Type drp dwn menu. The exprt lcatins where the bjects have been imprted will be laded in the Surce pane. 17

4. Click n the desired exprt lcatin, the flder named DesignManager2010 will be laded. Click n the flder, the previusly created exprted plans will appear. Yu can click the exprted plan name t expand t the exprted jb nde, and then select a nde. Click the exprted jb nde t see the exprted jb data in the data tree. 5. Click Add t Queue. The Add t Queue windw will pp up. 6. Cnfigure settings in the Add t Queue windw. Fr mre infrmatin n these settings, refer t the Creating a Deplyment Mapping sectin in this guide. 7. Click OK t add t the queue, r Cancel t return t the Surce and Destinatin selectin interface. Repeat the previus steps t add mre design elements imprt mappings t the Queue. If yu wish t add ther mappings, click Exit in the Surce pane, and the data tree will appear in the Surce pane nce again. 8. Once yu have finished adding mappings t the Queue, click Save As t save this Queue as a plan and fllw the instructins in Creating a Deplyment Plan. Alternatively, t execute the Queue immediately, click Run n the ribbn r click Run lcated at the bttm f the screen. *Nte: In the imprted jb, if yu select an exprted site cllectin nde in the surce, and select a site cllectin in the destinatin, the user slutin s cnflict reslutins are Skip, Overwrite, and Overwrite by Last Mdified Time. But in ther jbs, the user slutin s cnflict reslutins are Skip, Upgrade and Retract/Re deply. Offline Slutin Deplyment T perfrm an ffline slutin deplyment, exprt the slutin(s) t a Lgical Device and then imprt the slutin t the desired destinatin nde. Once yu have finished adding mappings t the Queue, click Save As t save this Queue as a plan and fllw the instructins in Creating a Deplyment Plan. Alternatively, t execute the Queue immediately, click Run n the ribbn r at the bttm f the screen. 18

Click n a lgical device under Slutin Stre t see the slutins the device cntains. Yu can als select the File System frm the Deply frm drp dwn menu t access the file system where the slutins yu want t imprt are. Select the desired slutins by checking the crrespnding checkbxes then click Add t Queue. The Add t Queue windw will pp up. 5. Select the desired Cnflict Reslutin methd frm the drp dwn menu. Fr details the different Cnflict Reslutin methds, refer t Appendix A: Cnflict Reslutin Web Applicatin Deplyment. Fr infrmatin n what criteria Deplyment Manager checks t determine cnflicts, see Appendix B: Cnflict Checks. 6. If mre than ne slutin is in this mapping, srt the slutins int yur desired rder. 7. Click OK t add t the queue, r Cancel t return t the Surce and Destinatin selectin interface. Repeat the previus steps t add mre slutin imprt mappings t the Queue. If yu wish t add ther mappings, click Exit in the Surce pane, and the data tree will appear in the Surce pane nce again. 8. Once yu have finished adding mappings t the Queue, click Save As t save this queue as a plan and fllw the instructins in Creating a Deplyment Plan. Deplyment Plans Deplyment mappings can be executed right away, r saved as plans t be executed at a later time. This als allws yu t repeat the same deplyment withut having t recreate all f the mappings r recnfigure all f the settings. Creating a Deplyment Plan T create a deplyment plan, create deplyment mappings by repeating the steps in Creating a Deplyment Mapping. Each deplyment mapping yu cnfigure will appear in the queue. Yu can change the rder in which the deplyment mappings are executed by clicking the crrespnding drpdwn menu in the Order clumn f the queue, then selecting the desired place in the queue. Nte that by default, five deplyment mappings are shwn in the queue. T change the number f deplyment mappings displayed in the queue, click the Shw rws drp dwn menu beneath the queue, then select the desired number f deplyment mappings t display. When yu are finished adding deplyment mappings t the queue, click Save as a Plan n the ribbn r lcated at the bttm f the screen. Yu will be brught t the Save as a Plan interface. Cnfigure the fllwing settings: Plan Name Type in a Plan Name fr this new plan. Then type in a descriptin fr future references. Backup Envirnment Befre Running Plan Enable this ptin t back up the destinatin envirnment befre running the plan. Yu must then select a strage plicy. Enabling this ptin allws yu t use the Rllback feature in Jb Mnitr. Schedule Selectin Cnfigure a schedule fr this plan: Select N Schedule t manually execute this plan. Select Start Time if yu wish t have this plan be executed at a specified time. Select the date and time yu wish this plan t be executed. If applicable, yu may change the time zne by clicking n the hyperlink t select a different time zne. Ntificatin Cnfigure the settings here t have e mail ntificatins sent fr this plan: Select Summary Reprt Recipient(s) r Detailed Reprt Recipient(s) frm the drpdwn menu. Type in the e mail address f the desired recipient(s) in the textbx, then click Add. (If yu wish t add numerus recipients fr the same reprt, it may be mre efficient t create mailing lists prir t cnfiguring ntificatin recipients.) Summary Reprt Level(s) Set when t send the summary reprt. By default, Success, Failure and Warning are all selected. After the jb cmpleted/failed/cmpleted with exceptin, a summary reprt will be sent t the recipient. 20

Detailed Reprt Level(s) Set when t send the detailed reprt. By default, Success, Failure and Warning are all selected. Managing Deplyment Plans Once a deplyment plan has been created, yu can access it by clicking n the Plan Manager tab. In the Plan Manager interface, yu will see a list f all previusly created Deplyment Plans. Yu can custmize hw these plans are displayed in a number f different ways: Search Filter the plans displayed by the keywrd yu designate; the keywrd must be cntained in a clumn value. At the tp f the viewing pane, type in the keywrd fr the plan yu wish displayed. Yu can select fr search t Search all pages r Search current page. Nte that the search functin is nt case sensitive. Yu can manage which clumns are displayed in the list s that nly infrmatin yu want t see is shwn. Click then check the checkbx next t the clumn name t have that clumn shwn in the list. Filter which item in the list is displayed. Unlike Search, yu can filter whichever item yu want, rather than search based n a keywrd. Click the f the clumn yu want t filter, then check the checkbx next t the item name t have that item shwn in the list. *Nte: Deplyment mappings in the Queue f a plan in Plan Manager display the start and finish time f the mst recent executin f this plan. This infrmatin is displayed fr yur cnvenience and the plan can still be mdified. Frm the Plan Manager interface, yu can execute the plans, edit the plans settings, edit the plans queue, and delete plans that yu n lnger need. T execute a plan, select the plan in Plan Manager, then click Run Nw n the ribbn. Yu will see the message: The jb is started, please g t Jb Mnitr if yu want t view the jb details. Queue Tls Queue tls allw yu t manage the Deplyment mappings in the Hme tab f Deplyment Manager r the plan queue f a previusly created deplyment plans. The fllwing actins can be perfrmed in the Queue Tls tab: Add New Mappings Click Add New Mappings. This brings yu back t the Hme tab t create a new deplyment mapping. Edit Edit the selected mapping. Yur selectins will appear in the Surce and Destinatin pane where yu can make changes t the mapping. Edit Mapping Settings Click Edit n the ribbn, and click Edit Mapping Settings in the drp dwn menu r click Mapping Settings n the lwer left crner f the screen. The Mapping Settings interface appears. Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin Yu can directly edit the selected mapping s surce and the destinatin when yu access t the Queue Tls interface. Or yu can edit the surce and destinatin after yu editing the mapping settings. Once yu have finished editing the selected mapping s settings, the Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin will be highlighted. Click Edit n the ribbn, and click Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin in the drp dwn menu r click Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin n the lwer left f the screen then edit the selected mapping s surce and destinatin. Delete Delete the selected mapping. A warning will pp up cnfirming the deletin. Click OK t prceed with the deletin, r click Cancel t return t the Queue Tls tab withut deleting the mapping. Disable Disable the selected mapping in the plan. Disabled mappings will be skipped when the plan is run. Enable Enable the selected mapping in the plan. Create Cntainer In the Destinatin pane, enter the name f a new cntainer in the available field then click Create Cntainer. The Create Cntainer interface appears. Select the bject type then chse the categry fr the new list r library frm the drp dwn menu. Cancel Exit the Queue Tls interface. Edit Plan Settings Click t access t the Edit Plan Settings interface. Click n the Slutin Tls tab t access the interface fr managing deplyed slutins. Fr farm slutins, yu can perfrm the fllwing actins n any selected slutin(s): Details Review detailed infrmatin abut the selected slutin(s) in a ppup windw. In the Details pane, click n the tab t display infrmatin abut the crrespnding slutin. Click Retract n the ribbn t retract the slutin. Retract Retract the slutin(s). In the Retract Slutins interface, chse the Web applicatin t retract each slutin frm. When yu have finished making yur selectins, click OK t retract the slutin(s), r Cancel t return t the Slutin Tls page withut retracting the slutin(s). Retracted slutins remain in the Slutin Stre and may be redeplyed later. Remve Remve the slutin(s) frm the Slutin Stre. Once a slutin has been remved, it cannt be redeplyed until it has been reinstalled t the Slutin Stre. Fr the user slutins, yu can perfrm the fllwing actins n any selected slutin(s): Activate Activate the slutin(s) within the lcal farm. Deactivate Deactivate the slutin(s) within the lcal farm. Upgrade Upgrade the currently active slutin t the selected versin. 28

Using Cmpare The cmpare feature allws yu t identify differences between the surce bject and the destinatin bject. This feature supprts: Web applicatin, Web frnt end, farm slutins, and shared services. By using the cmpare feature, nce the differences are identified between the surce and destinatin, yu can select bjects frm either the surce r destinatin t be deplyed t the ther side that des nt have the same bject. Perfrming a Cmpare Jb T cmpare bjects, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. In the Hme tab f Deplyment Manager, click Cmpare n the ribbn. Yu will be brught t the Cmpare interface. 2. Under the Treee tab, within the Surce pane, click thee farm name t expand its data tree, and gain access t its SharePint bjects. Expanding the data tree in the Surce pane will als expand the data tree in the Destinatin pane. Click Web applicatins, Web frnt end, r shared services t expand the dataa tree t the nde yu wish t cmpare. Farm Slutins can be directly selected fr cmparing. If there is a difference between the Surce and Destinatin ndess n a certain bject level, the bjects will be highlighted in light range, and a check bx will appear in frnt f the surce nde. T refresh an bject, right click the bject then click Refresh t refresh the bject and expand it. *Nte: Fr sites, yu can right click and select Cpy URL t cpy the URL f this nde, r click Open in brwser t pen it in the brwser directly. 3. Check the checkbx in frnt f an bject t create a deplyment mapping. *Nte: An arrw will appear between the Surce pane and the Destinatin pane after yu check the crrespnding checkbx. If there is an bject exists in the surce tree, but this kind f bject des nt exist in the destinatin, a right arrw appears. In this case, the surce bject will deply t the destinatin. If there is an bject exists in the destinatin tree, but this kind f bject des nt exist in the surce, a left arrw appears. In this case, the destinatin bject will deply t the surce. If the cmpared surce and destinatin havee the differentt bjects, a tw way arrw appears. Yu can chse t deply bjects frm the surce t the destinatin r frm the destinatin t the surce by changing thee arrw directin. 4. Click Add t Queue n the ribbn t addd this mapping t the queue. Deplyment Manager Use Cases The fllwing use cases demnstrate the use f features described in this guide in several real wrld situatins. These use cases are intended t give the user a sense f when t use certain features f Deplyment Manager, as well as hw the features wrk tgether t create a better user experience verall. Basic Plan Deplyment Use Case Je is the IT Directr f his cmpany. He wrks ut f the headquarters lcated in New Yrk. He is als the head administratr f the cmpany s IT setup which uses SharePint as their key cllabratin tl. Recently, the cmpany brught n a new Human Resurces Directr wh wants t incrprate a third party SharePint slutin t imprve their hiring prcess. As Je had used DcAve prducts t perfrm the cmpany s migratin nt SharePint, and t maintain cntent and permissins n their SharePint farms, right away he thught f leveraging Deplyment Manager fr this prject. T start ff, Je installs the slutin nt their primary farm. He then pens up DcAve and launches Deplyment Manager. T mirrr the slutin nt the tw ther farms at their branch ffices in Chicag and San Francisc, he navigates thrugh the surce farm s data tree in the Surce pane, and selects the new slutin (surce bject) t be cpied nt the ther farms. He then selects the destinatin nde in the Destinatin pane fr this slutin t be deplyed int n the destinatin farm. He clicks Add t Queue, and then custmizes the new mapping (see Creating a Deplyment Mapping). Je repeats the prcess fr the secnd destinatin farm. After setting up the deplyment plan, he clicks Run t set the mapped jbs in mtin. As the jbs run, he clicks Jb Mnitr and keeps track f the status f the jbs. After the deplyment is cmplete, Je uses the cmpare feature t make sure the tw ndes are in sync. He then set up e mail ntificatins t receive usage reprts fr the new site where the new slutin is running, which he can then frward t the relevant department leaders. Creating and Administering Advanced Mappings Use Case Mnths later, Je s cmpany is acquired by a larger firm. The new firm asks Je t integrate the existing SharePint farms f the ld cmpany with thse f the new cmpany. The integratin invlves mapping the dmain f the cntent n the existing farms t the dmain f the new cmpany, map the cntent f users n the ld farm t the users with the new dmain, and change the mirrr sites fr the Japan branch int Japanese. T perfrm this integratin, Je launches Deplyment Manager in DcAve 6, and first creates new Dmain Mappings, User Mappings and Language Mapping in the Cntrl Panel. Je makes sure t then map the Managed Metadata frm their ld SharePint envirnments t the nes f the new cmpany s that all f their recrds remain intact after the merge. After creating all the mappings, and setting up the deplyment plans, he runs the plans during ff hurs and then reviews the details in Jb Mnitr. 38

Maintenance f Deplyment Plans Use Case Nw that the merge is cmplete, Je is back t his daily administratin duties. He deplys sme new SharePint slutins new cmpany purchased t help sme f the new departments that frmed frm the merge. He first installs them nt his test envirnment, then deplys them nt the Quality Assurance farm, test run n a live farm, then deplys t all the ther farms f the different branches. Since Je creates Creating a Deplyment Plan in DcAve, he is able t repeat the prcess each time quickly while eliminating human errr. After deplying a slutin, Je selects the crrespnding SharePint bjects in the Surce and Destinatin panes in Deplyment Manager, and clicks Perfrming a Cmpare Jb t check fr discrepancies. Fr sme f these plans, Je has them set t run n a repeating schedule, with e mail ntificatins set up t alert him f when each jb runs.
