This document introduces the major features of Datastream Chart Studio. Chartbook: provides a unique and immediate repository of analytical content. Library: storage library of Datastream standard / user-created charts, styles and templates. Chart: interactive charting window with extended functionality such as data viewer and export. News in Charts provide a regular commentary on topical issues. CHARTBOOK The Chartbook, brought to you by Fathom Consulting, provides a unique and immediate repository of analytical content. 2

You will find a wide range of economic and financial market indicators, covering a thorough selection of advanced and emerging market economies. The countries covered account for over 95% of global GDP. The Chartbook also contains Fathom proprietary indices such as the Sovereign Fragility Index: Fathom also provide joint conditional probabilities of default for various Euro Area governments. The Chartbook is organized by country, and then type of data. You can find charts related to economic growth in the National Accounts section, or for more forward-looking indicators of economic growth, look in Surveys. As well as macroeconomic data, the Chartbook also includes a range of data on key financial market asset prices. The charts automatically update, so you can stay on top of all the latest economic and financial markets developments. You can export the charts to Office or as image files, or you can copy charts to your own Library. Click on any chart name to open it in the Chart page. Here you can amend the chart, apply your own styling and then save the changes in your own Library. In the Details View you can also copy the URL to the clipboard to share it with others. 3

CREATING CHARTS You can create charts easily by using the menus in the Chartbook page or the News in Charts page. To open Fathoms Sovereign Fragility Index for Greece in the Chart page select the Open Chart option from the Flyout to the right of Greece Sovereign Fragility Index. It loads the chart into the Chart page. To open a chart from the News in Charts page click the Edit Chart link below the chart: Alternatively, on the Chart page you can: use expert entry: type an identifier into a series field. find a new series using the Fly-out next to each line and select Find New Series to open Navigator: 4

Overview of the Chart page Here is an overview of the Chart page: Toolbar for saving & printing charts, arranging objects, correlation, saving & applying styles, arranging size, panes and dates, and exporting. Select to view data or chart Click on the Data button to view the charts underlying figures Use Fly-outs or links to customize chart objects APPLYING CURRENCY CONVERSION AND FUNCTIONS Applying Currency Conversion to all Series You can change Datatypes and currencies for each or all of the series easily with a few mouse clicks. To apply a currency conversion to multiple series, open the currency Fly-out menu by hovering over the Fly-out icon to the right of All Series On Chart. Select the required currency or click Enter Currency and type the currency code into the dialog box. Click OK or press Enter to apply the currency conversion to all series on the chart, each of which can still be edited individually by using the Fly-out menus for each line. 5

Here we have converted Japans GDP series into US Dollar: Applying Functions to Series You can apply various kinds of functions easily with a few mouse clicks. To apply a function to a single series, open the function Fly-out menu by hovering over the function icon to the left of the series name. Select the required function and, if appropriate, the time period parameter. If the required time period is not shown, click on the Enter Period option and type it in. The function will be applied to the series. You can nest functions by repeating this process. To apply a function to all series hover over the Function Fly-out next to All Lines and select the required function. Manual Modification to Series Instead of using the Fly-outs you can also use Expert Entry: just type in the identifier together with the formula and the currency conversion. You can also delete series from a chart. To delete the third series you can either use the Fly-out button to the left of the line number or just delete the code in the command box. 6

EDITING CHART SETTINGS Setting the date range To change the date range settings, select a date range from the Fly-out icon to the right of Date Range. Alternatively, select your start and end dates from the Fly-out buttons in the Dates section or type in the required relative date or absolute date. To set a date range in one click, hover your cursor over the Dates option on the toolbar and select a date range. Alternatively, you can left click and drag under the date axis to zoom in. Using Dates options on the toolbar Click and drag under the date axis to zoom in All lines editor You can use the All Lines editor to edit settings for all the lines on your chart. First, click the All Lines link available under the All Series section. The All Lines editor will open. Here you can select from various properties in the box on the left and select the required setting on the right. For example, to change the line type for each line from Line to Bar, click Line Type under Style and Colour in All Lines Editor, then select Bar from the dropdown box to the right of the line number. Then, click OK. 7

Chart Settings Chart Settings helps you to define the Chart Title, Chart Subtitle, Axes, Rebasing, Chart Grid Lines, Background Colour, Fonts, Legend Text and Bars of a chart. The chart settings option also allows you to rebase all or some of your series. To open the Chart Settings, select Chart Settings from the View dropdown box: Click the Chart Settings link under the Chart and Legend section to add a title, subtitle and specify the font, its size and style. Alternatively, you can change chart settings for each charting object by simply clicking on the object within the chart canvas. To change the styles of your chart, click the Edit option on the Fly-out menu to the left of the line number. The line editor will open showing all the properties of the line. You can select from Line, Bar, OHLC (Open-High-Low-Close), Candlestick or Area line type. In this editor you can also set the colour, width and dash style of the lines and display the line on the left or right axis. For example, to change the line colour click on the Fly-out menu to the right of the current colour. In the popup menu, you can select from standard colour settings or define original RGB colour settings by clicking on More Colours 8

Multi-pane Charts With Datastream Chart Studio you can easily create multi-pane charts. To do this, hover your mouse over the Panes option on the toolbar in the Chart page and select a pre-formatted layout or the Custom option. For example, we will select Two Panes 2:1 to add a smaller pane in the bottom of the chart window. To add a series to pane 2 hover over the Fly-out to the right of Pane 2 Line 1 and click on Find New Series from the popup menu to open Navigator. SAVING AND MANAGING CHARTS Click the Save As button, enter a chart name and - if required a short code and a description. The Name field will default to any title you have added to the chart or, if your chart has no title, to the legend of the first line of the chart. You can overtype or edit this name. Select a destination folder from the Shared or Private section in the Folder field or click Create a New Folder and type in the new folder name. You cannot save charts directly into the Shared or Private sections, but must create a subfolder first. If you wish to lock your chart, click the Locked checkbox and click OK. Locked charts cannot be deleted, moved, renamed or edited by another user. If you save a chart using a short code you can quickly re-open the chart using the code rather than searching the Library. 9

MANAGING CHARTS You can search for saved charts in the Library page of Datastream Charting using the name and folder specified at saving. The top level of the Chart Hierarchy is divided into three sections: Datastream, Shared and Private. These three sections cannot hold any charts and contain only the folders. Under the subfolders of Shared or Private, you can open, rename, delete, lock, copy, move, print, save with a new name, export, apply/remove style, and add a new Short Code to single charts by hovering over the Fly-out to the right of the chart name and click on the menus. Opening Charts using Short Codes Go to the Chart page, and click the New Blank Chart button to refresh the Chart window or open a new tab. Type your short code, e.g. GDPCOMP1 in the Short Code command box on the top right of the window and click on the Go button. The chart saved with this short code will be automatically loaded. EXPORTING CHARTS FROM THE CANVAS Charts can be exported to Excel, Word or PowerPoint as refreshable objects. To export the current chart in the canvas, choose the Export to Excel / Export to Word / Export to PowerPoint option in the Chart page as appropriate. Note that you will be prompted to save the chart in your Chart Library if you have not already done so. The Export Settings dialog will pop up. Enter the settings and click the Export Chart button. A window will open showing you the status of the export action. For more information, see Status window. The charts are exported to Excel, Word or PowerPoint with the settings specified by the user. You can resize, drag or cut and paste the chart within Excel, Word or PowerPoint or from one of these Office applications to another. If you cut and paste to another Office application you will still be able to refresh the chart, provided you have installed the appropriate add-in. Select a chart and within the Datastream Charting Add-in go to Datastream Charting > Refresh and then Refresh Selected or simply Refresh All and you can refresh chart objects embedded into Word/Excel/PowerPoint documents. 10

Exporting data to Excel Click on either the Export Series Data to Excel (Series as Columns) icon or the Export Series Data to Excel (Series as Rows) icon as required. Make your selections in the Export Option dialog and click OK. Exporting more than one chart You can also export multiple charts in one action by selecting the charts in the Library.
