Chapter 1 Installation Living Systems Process Suite comes in two editions: Cloud Edition Installation with its execution components in cloud (You do not have to set up a server with the execution resources, such as, database, application server, and the execution engine yourself). Enterprise Edition Installation with Embedded Server for testing purposes and full support for remote LSPS server connections. If you are upgrading your LSPS, make sure to migrate your and system data if applicable: refer to the Sever Deployment Guide.

Chapter 2 Cloud Edition Installation Living Systems Process Suite Cloud Edition is a business process design suite with its runtime located in a cloud. This means that you do not have to set up a server with the execution resources, such as, database, application server, and the execution engine yourself. On the other hand, it also restricts customization options. To connect and work with the cloud environment, you need to install the Process Design Suite (PDS) on your computer: In PDS, you will design and deploy your processes, and perform administration task on the cloud runtime. You can administrate the runtime also from the Management Console from your browser. To interact with the runtime as a process participant, you will access the cloud through the Application User Interface, the thin client of the runtime. Figure 2.1 Cloud Schema To acquire Living Systems Process Suite Cloud Edition, register with Whitestein: on www.whitestein.com go to LSPS Solutions LSPS Cloud Evaluation (refer to Registering and Installing). 2.1 Requirements operating systems:
4 Cloud Edition Installation Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1 (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows 10 Mac OS 10.10+ Linux: Debian, Ubuntu Java: Oracle JDK 1.7.x Oracle JDK 1.8.x web browsers (for Application User Interface and Management Console): Google Chrome 23 and newer Mozilla Firefox 17 and newer Internet Explorer 8 and newer Safari 6 and newer 2.2 Limitations The cloud edition is based on the LSPS Enterprise Edition; however, it has the following limitations: It does not contain the Embedded Server, an application server with the Execution Engine. It does not include the Runtime Suite (no command line tools). It does not include the LSPS SDK: you cannot customize the front-end application, or create custom objects that require implementation in Java, that is, custom Task types, custom Form Components, and custom Function definitions with implementation in Java (you can implement your functions in the Expression Language). The runtime connection is pre-set and cannot be changed. 2.3 Registering and Installing To acquire and set up your LSPS Cloud Edition, do the following: 1. Register with Whitestein: (a) Go to https://lspscloud.whitestein.com/account/ and register. (b) When you have received the registration email, confirm the registration from the link in the email and change your password. (c) Go to your Cloud Dashboard on https://www.whitestein.com/lspscloud-dashboard/ and download the Process Design Suite (PDS) Installer for your platform. Note that for each registration, only one LSPS cloud instance is created and your PDS is bound to this instance.
2.3 Registering and Installing 5 Figure 2.2 Downloading installer 2. Make sure you have a JDK installed. 3. Install PDS: (a) Go to the location where you saved PDS. (b) Run the Setup-LSPS-Cloud-<VERSION> installation binary and follow the installation instructions: Make sure to install PDS in an empty folder. 4. Run PDS: Do not use a workspace created by another PDS. The cloud connection is configured in your PDS but will be ready for use only after you have received the confirmation email with the data about your cloud instance. 5. Check the available front-end applications from the LSPS Dashboard.

You can create and enable further users from the Persons view of the Management perspective.

The cloud edition provides the following front-end applications: YOUR APPLICATION: Application User Interface for process executors so they can interact with artifacts produced by models, that is, to-dos and documents. MANAGEMENT CONSOLE: Management Console application for process administration DATABASE TOOL: application for database management

Chapter 3 Enterprise Edition Installation LSPS Process Design Suite is the environment for designing your models, customizing and deploying your application. It provides tools for designing, management, and development of business processes, an embedded WildFly server with the LSPS Server, and the SDK. Note: If you previously had an LSPS version installed and you are switching to a newer LSPDS version, make sure to delete the.lspsembedded directory in your workspaces to prevent problems when deploying to the LSPS Server. 3.1 Requirements operating systems: Java: Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1 (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows 10 Mac OS 10.10+ Linux: Debian, Ubuntu Oracle JDK 1.7.x Important: We recommend to run JVM with at least -Xms1024m -XX:MaxPerm Size=256m. However, the requirements of your environment might vary. Test your set up thoroughly. Oracle JDK 1.8.x Important: We recommend to run JVM with at least -Xms1024m. 12 Enterprise Edition Installation 3.2 Installing PDS Enterprise Only single-user installation is supported. computer for one specific user only. The single-user installation is what you use to set up PDS on one Before installing PDS, make sure you have JDK installed. Optionally set the JAVA_HOME environment variable (If not set, you will need to enter the path to your JDK manually). To install Living Systems Process Design Suite, do the following: 1. Run the Setup-LSPS-Enterprise-$VERSION file. 2. Select the Java PDS should use. 3. Follow the installation steps. 4. Make sure to set as the target install location an empty folder. The installation wizards installs Living Systems Process Design Suite on your computer with the Embedded server and optionally the LSPS Software Development Kit (SDK). If you install the SDK, the system installs LSPS artifacts to the selected Maven repository, and connects PDS with Maven (for details, refer to the Software Development Kit Guide). The settings provided during the installation are stored in the lsps-design-$version.ini file in the LSPS folder. 3.2.1 Setting JVM and Maven Properties To define JVM and Maven properties after you have already installed LSPS, edit the $LSPS_HOME/lsps-design.ini file (on 64-bit architectures $LSPS_HOME/lsps-design_64.ini). lsps-design.ini on 64-bit Linux -vm /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_55/bin -vmargs/ -Xms1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dmaven.repo.location=/home/user/.m2/repository If you want to use your system Java as defined by JAVA_HOME, you can delete the -vm property, since the system Java will be used automatically.
3.3 Running 13 3.3 Running To start the Process Design Suite, do the following: 1. Go to $LSPS_HOME. 2. Run the lsps-design binary for your platform: lsps-design.exe and on Windows with 32-bit architectures lsps-design_6.exe on Windows with 64-bit architectures Process Design Suite on MacIntosh lsps-design on Linux 3. In the Workspace Launcher dialog box, choose a workspace folder and click OK. If the chosen workspace folder does not exist, it will be created. A workspace is a folder, where the resources stored during the session are located. Its content is reflected in the workbench. Figure 3.1 Workspace Launcher dialog 4. If you are launching PDS in a new workspace, PDS displays the Welcome page with links to perspectives, documents, and other PDS resources.
14 Enterprise Edition Installation Figure 3.2 Welcome page You can display it at any point from the main menu Help -> Welcome item. 3.3.1 What to Do Next Refer to the Quickstart guide or if you want to customize the front-end application and develop custom components SDK Guide. 3.4 Renewing License To renew an expired license, copy the new license file into LSPS_HOME. 3.5 Uninstalling To uninstall Process Design Suite, run the uninstall file: Windows: $LSPS_HOME\uninstall.bat Linux/MacOS: $LSPS_HOME/uninstall
