1.0 Introduction This document provides migration guidelines to convert system designs from the Numonyx StrataFlash Embedded Memory (P30) device to the Product Name device. This application note is based upon the most current information available as of the publication date. There may be relevant specification updates that are not included. Please refer to the current specification publications of the respective device(s) before finalizing any designs while using this migration guide. 2.0 Product Comparison Overview Designs using the Numonyx StrataFlash Embedded Memory (P30) may be easily migrated to the Product Name for those systems requiring 3V Vcc. Differences between products have been minimized to provide an easy drop-in migration path allowing minimal hardware and/or software re-design. The following table illustrates the general differences between the two products. Please refer to the product specification for more detailed and up-to-date information: Table 1: List of differences between P30 and P33 Feature P30 P33 V CC (Core) 1.7V - 2.0V 2.3V - 3.6V Operating Voltage V CCQ (I/O) 1.7V - 3.6V (CMOS) 2.3V - 3.6V (CMOS) 2.4V - 3.6V (TTL) 2.4V - 3.6V (TTL) 64M CMOS 20 ua / 35 ua 35 ua / 135 ua ICCS/ICCD (typ/max) 128M CMOS 30 ua / 55 ua 45 ua / 155 ua 256M CMOS 55 ua / 115 ua 70 ua / 195 ua tvcc valid to RST# (high) tccph 60 us 90 us Vcc Lockout Voltage Vlko 1.0V 1.5V 64M (Top) 8817 881D 128M (Top) 8818 881E Device ID (Hex) 256M (Top) 8919 891F 64M (Bot) 881A 8820 128M (Bot) 881B 8821 256M (Bot) 891C 8922 Address 1Bh --17h --23h CFI Address 1Ch --20h --36h Address 116h --18h --30h EasyBGA Package Dimensions 64Mb and 128Mb 10mm X 13mm 10mm X 8mm 256Mb and 512Mb 10mm X 13mm November 2007 Application Note Order Number: 314750-03 5

3.0 Dual Design Considerations Numonyx StrataFlash Embedded Memory (P30) designs may incorporate an LDO to allow for 3V operation. The LDO will no longer be necessary when using P33 and it may be removed. Please refer to the following figure for more information about dual design considerations. Table 2: Dual Design Truth Table P30 P33 LDO populate de-populate R0 de-populate populate Figure 1: Dual Design Hardware Layout 3 V R0 0 ohm LDO 1.8 V VCC Decoupling cap Numonyx TM StrataFlash Embedded Memory 4.0 Software Considerations Device ID s and CFI table entries must be considered when migrating from the Numonyx StrataFlash Embedded Memory (P30) to P33. All other software aspects of migration will be identical with exceptions as noted in Table 1, List of differences between P30 and P33 on page 5 Application Note November 2007 6 Order Number: 314750-03
