Introduction The Samsung Q1 tablet installed under the monitors at the Instructor station has been connected to the other simulator computers by means of the WiFi network. All the computers have been loaded with WideFS which was provided as part of the FSUIPC software suite from Peter Dowson. This software is needed in order to provide Inter Process Communication so that the gauge software on the Instrument computer can receive information from FSX running on the Flight computer. As a by-product of this, commands can be generated remotely and injected into the flight simulator software so that some degree of remote control can be obtained. This tablet has been configured so that when powered up, it logs in automatically and starts the Wideclient software. This displays a blank 5 x 7 grid until FSX has successfully started and initialised on the Flight computer at which point a connection is established and coloured labels will appear as part of the grid. As the tablet has a touch screen, each cell effectively becomes a button which can be pressed to effect a change in the running of some part of the simulator. For convenience, the program displaying these buttons has been titled the Simulator Keysend Injection Program (SKIP). SKIP has been designed so that it should be unnecessary to use a local keyboard or mouse connected to the various machines within the simulator architecture. For instance, if you now have a problem or want to reset the simulator, your first thought should be to Put it into the SKIP. Comet Simulator Keysend Injection Program Page 3 of 15
