HP Certified Professional Supporting the HP StorageWorks Virtual Library System (VLS) HP0-944 Exam Preparation Guide Purpose of the Exam Prep Guide Audience The intent of this guide is to set expectations about the content and the context of the exam and to help candidates prepare for the exam. In this guide, you will find recommended HP training courses, reference and study material to help you achieve a successful passing score. Studies conducted by HP and Prometric show that a combination of course attendance and self-study maximizes the likelihood of passing the exam on the first attempt. This exam is for personnel who support the HP StorageWorks Virtual Library System (VLS). Examples of job roles include: HP Services field engineer, call center personnel and other field personnel who provide installation and/or operational support assistance HP Channel Partners supporting HP Storage products (for example, engineers who perform warranty and installation services) General areas of content include: Fundamental Storage Technologies Supporting VLS VLS Concepts, Systems, Components Options and Features, VLS Installation, Configuration and Upgrade Procedures VLS Troubleshooting and Repair Procedures VLS Administrative and Operational Tasks and Procedures Certification Requirements This Supporting the HP StorageWorks Virtual Library System (VLS) Exam (HP0-944) is one of the exams that satisfies the ASE StorageWorks Nearline 1

Prerequisites Exam Details (transitional), an elective for ASE HP StorageWorks [2008], and a core in the ASE Specialty in HP Secondary Storage credential. This level of certification measures competencies required for hands-on integration and support of technical solutions in complex, enterprise class environments. Given a set of customer business requirements, an individual earning this certification is expected to be able to design, support and integrate platform, operating system, nearline storage, network and option components to solve business needs. The ideal candidate is anyone who deploys complex solutions based on HP nearline technologies. Job functions include, but are not limited to: Plan, design and capacity-size solutions Install, configure, startup and upgrade solution components Performance tune and optimize solutions Troubleshoot solutions and perform removal and replacement operations Perform system administration and operational tasks Manage using HP tools and resources AIS HP StorageWorks [2008] Basic knowledge of : Tape backup technologies, tape libraries and backup software Command View TL SAN environments and basic connectivity foundations Knowledge of/completion of pre-requisite Instructor-Led and Web-based training courses specified in the Recommended Training and Study References section of this exam preparation guide At the beginning of the exam, you will be asked to answer several survey questions. The survey questions are designed to assist the exam development team in accurately profiling test results and to improve future exams.
